I loved the original 1960 version. When searching for it - I found it, but I also found this vastly superior version. I have listened to this one many, many times. It is a compelling melody in any form, but this version is the zenith!

The echo on the guitar has been softened; the double picking segments are perfect. So smooth and unpretentious. I see it's in the basement or studio and not a live gig. IS this one of the String Alongs? I didn't pick up on that. Wheels is iconic; a great sample of one type of 60's sound, although The Ventures' cover is too slick. They usually nailed covers. Wheels as a stand-alone song would not have survived without those transitions. I smiled because I did something similar for a few years. Recording bass, drums, horns, and background vocals. Playing them back on Mini DIsc and performing live. Great fun. Fans from back then occasionally want a recording with the vocals in. So I have to add to them. Thanks for this memory.
