I think UPL can take us to the play-offs next season and mayb even surprise us here and there making an unexpected run. So i will be happy to sign and reward him.
But i realy feel that it is Devon Levi that eventualy will be our nr. 1 netminder for long term and become a true beast in the NHL.
So having both for the next 4 years i think is a solid investment cause you got your goalie tandem covert!
I think Adam's should look at the Skinner contract as a cautionary tale. Don't throw insane money at people who haven't proven anything. Toronto did this and had players sit out critical playoff games with Tummy aches and a headache. The ghost of Tim Horton must be screwing.
Sign them to solid but not bonkers money/term. Let them earn there retirement fund on the ice. 🤔
UPL I feel is sort of in the same boat as a Tage Thompson and Cozens. GREAT YEAR but can he follow it up with an at least matching year. Where Cozens and Thompson had a very very off year following their big deal signings.
I can see Lindy wanting to keep a player like Brett Murray out of training camp. Why give Krebs a roster spot and not this guy?
I think you are pretty much spot on with these players. Especially with Jokiharju. He was one of their better players this season and received way more criticism than he deserved.
With more and more players inching towards the $8-10 mil. mark. Signing future all-stars, (JJ, UPL, Quinn) to 4 mil. contracts would be a steal.

When you mentioned Olofsson, I know he decided to test FA, I don't think Buffalo was gonna give him a qualifying offer (think part of the reason he wanted to go FA knowing he was not gonna see games in Buffalo). Krebs should (imo) be used in conjunction with the 11th pick as trade bait. Its not that I don't think Krebs won't have some great years ahead, but I think we need someone who is ready now. UPL a def extension...and I think a bridge deal is the way to go. We do have Levi in the wings so I would bridge UPL and if we get to the playoffs...we can use that as leverage (or he can use it if he rips the playoffs). Either way...If he is the next Hellbuyck, pay the man. I think Jokiharu could be good trade bait also (if teams request he be part of it) but he is still a solid 2ish to 3rd string pairing, so if we sign him, keep him in bridge deals. Now with all the other D men and Forwards, unless we can't get replacements in the offseason, we may need to sign some of them for another year. I am gonna put this out there, but I don't know why we don't have Jeremy Davies in the NHL. He plays exactly how the Sabres should play, he plays like he is 6'5" and is offensive minded but is always the first D man back. I've been a fan of Davies for a while now...he deserves a good shot.
Victor olofsson will be at the worlds. I expect him to rack up the points, this is a tryout for him to join another team
Adams was on the Buffalo radio a few days ago and he said he wants a physical and different bottom 6 which got me very excited bc Ik we will play Florida in the playoffs soon and I want a team that stands up to them
Yeah you may know what you want but getting what you want is difficult esp for a team nobody wants to come to.
@@andrewzy yes but they have trade capital to do it and it’s not a ton of things we played horrible and still had 84 pts I would think Lindy is automatic 10 points and yes we may not attract the superstars but we just need bottom 6 players
If Adams wants to move Skinner who has a NMC its easy . Adams says to Skinner , you will be a third line winger here in Buffalo or on the 1st line in Anahiem San Jose or Chicago with Bedard. Hard part is trying to convince one of those teams to take Skinner and his contract 😊😊
Cap is going up every year its not hard we will just have to eat a percentage or find a third team to take some cap as well. Peterka earned his spot on the first line. Cozens and Quinn deserve a better linemate so i wouldnt want Jeff with them and Benson looked good on that line at the end if the season. I dont want a 3rd liner making 9$million its asinine.
I agree we need to lock in both the goalies. UPL has shown a lot of growth and we can’t let him go, so $4 million per season doesn’t sound unreasonable.
I think we should trade krebs Granato gave him a lot of opportunities and he didn’t show anything

Levi signing for any higher than 3 over 3 years would be a mistake. If not a mistake a very large gamble. Hopefully it will pay off but I'm hesitant after the fall off Tage and Cozens after their big deals. Give Levi something to prove, we will pay you more when you earn it.
With Ruff’s coaching style, I could easily see him making an effort to get Adams to sign Girgensons and keep Robinson around to put on a 4th line with Greenway. I don’t like the idea, but there is a little bit of speed, size and grit that could come from that line if coached right.
Again, bad idea, but it’s hard to get a read on what Ruff is thinking.
I agree with everything except to give 3.5 with a two or three year deal for UPL and I would extend Greenway now. He is our banger/tough guy who can put up some points as well. Levi is a no brainer on a bridge deal , but at the right price, gotta hang on to Quinn and Peterka. It's going to be interesting to see who can break through from Rochester, Savoie, Rousek, Rosen, Biro, Kulich, Johnson, Davies all have a shot next year.
Look at the number of hits and blocked shots the Canucks had tonight.
This will be an experimental year for everyone to see what Lindy can do with them. Girgs, Jost, Victor have to go.

Dont ban me Wayne😂😂 as I know how you feel about John Tavares, but heres an idea...Tavares is playing for team Canada at the World Championships now with 3 Sabres. Leafs want to move him, he has a NMC , maybe he accepts a trade to Buffalo. Would be a decent 3rd line centre , you would get him cheap because of his contract even with the leafs eating 20% for the remaining year. There arent a lot of centres available in free agency or trade wise. Sorry I cant see CBJ trading Boone Jenner and remember Adams said he wants to add a veteran centre in the season end presser.
Turn offs to trading for Tavares would be 9 million or so price tag for next season and theres no guarantee that he will resign for say 3 million next summer.

If you want to extend / sign Joker, I would do a 2-year deal at most. Ideally he won't be taking up a roster spot in 2 years. This all depends if Sammy can stay healthy?
Hopefully Ryan Johnson gets a roster spot on the team next year.
Levi could be offered a 6 or 7 year extension at $5mil to $5.5mil per if you believe he is a top goalie.
If none of the UFA's came back next year.. I would not be crying though I do agree, I'd like to see Robinson return... The RFA's, I'm sure Adams will get them done... for the guys this year.. Quinn and Peterka... Both have showed that when they are on the ICE, they are very good... Quinn has spent most of this year spectating and convalecing.. Clague and Bryson... goodbye.. Ryan Johnson is much better but didn't get the playing time under Granato..(Right or wrong) and when he did, he looked good. I'm hoping that Byrum, Power, RJ and the rest blossom under Lindy.. Lindy has coached winners and gone deep in the playoffs... Granato is a great developmental coach... problem is.. the NHL is not for development. He was beyond a doubt better than Krueger... (who wasn't)... but I was so happy to hear Lindy is coming home.
Peterka would have had 40 goals if he played more than 10 minutes, so many games Granto had him on the bench 6-9 minutes.
I'd like to sweep a few out - Olofsson, Girgs, Jost, Clague & Comrie. Robinson can stay if he wants. Trade Krebs, Jokiharju & Bryson. And buy out Skinner - he will not thrive on 3rd-4th lines. Why kill the team to save a few bucks?

Quinn will probably want to wait till after the season but a 3 year contract at $2.5mil per should be offered to him.
Greenway I am not so sure. Waiting to see how he fits under Ruff might be the smartest move.
We should sign Quinn now, too a decent contract for 7-8 years…….before he also blows up next season with 30 goals

Will Skinner's deal up in 3 years you could wait on Quinn. Plus with Byram needing a extension you might be better off waiting to see your cap situation within those 3 seasons. Byram might cost you between Power & Dahlin on a extension.
How many shifts would our Skinner last in the playoffs? YIKES!
He cant even last an entire year on the 1st line. This isnt the first time either. He needs to go he hasnr helped this team get anywhere in over 5 years. He needs to lift his NMC and go somewhere else. His time needs to be over.

Krebs has to go 100%. I’d rather keep Jost!!!! We need to make up for Mittelstadt. Krebs is not good enough to fill that spot. Lars Ehlers would be a nice addition on wing… but Krebs is not 3rd line center material. If we keep him I’d have him on line 4 as a winger/center floater.

I agree resign Krebs as the 4th line centre and resign Robinson for a spare forward spot with Rousek. Im hoping they will go after Dakota Josuha Van or Ryan Lomberg FLA to add some much needed grit to the 4th line with Krebs &Greenway .
I hope they trade Jokiharju and bring in a right shot D man via free agency( Pesce, Brown, Tanev, or Hakanpaa ) to partner Power ,but i think they are planning on pairing Sammuelsson and Power and have him play the right side . 3rd pair would be Clifton and Ryan Johnson with Jokiharju as 7th D .
Agree say good bye to Girgenson, Olofsson Sweden bound, Jost , Comrie Bryson and they wait a year to buyout Skinner . Resign- extend Krebs, Robinson, Quinn, Peterkka and UPL . Im waiting to extend Levi. I wanna see how he does full time with the Sabres this season . Question is Jokiharju, who being a right shot D man would be a valuable trade asset for a centre. But if you trade him then you have to replace him as the Sabres would only have 1 right shot D man , Clifton.

I don't have a lot of faith in Buffalo's prospects making the team next year. Watching the Amerks' games and seeing how poorly the callups did during the season, it doesn't look promising. I think many of the 'top' prospects will never make it big in the NHL. I question the Sabre's success in drafting under Adams
The only real miss i can see was Wyatt Johnson and people had him ranked middle of second round where Rosen was ranked 20ish, how could you know without hindsight?
That Power contract looks so bad atm. I hope he figures it out.
UPL 3x12 4 mill AAV. Find a vet fot UPL keep Devon in Rochester for another year there is no rush there let him get a legit full season in there before he makes rhe jump. UPL even said he doesnt play well when there is competition in net with him which makes me weary to sign him long term. Levi another 3 year deal as well. Hes gotta prove he can step up and UPL needs to prove he cant be consistent and back up what he did last year for actually a full year and be consistent

Krebs , JOKIHARJU , ROBINSON , BRYSON , SHOULD ALL BE EX SABRES .( need to change the make up of this roster ) ZEMGUS i would agree to move on from him if it’s for a more aggressive player . LEVY ( would not extent him , not as confident as you are on his talent . Too small for my liking) I would extend PETERKA, QUINN ( don’t care on any of the AHL players ( none are NHL difference makers ) UPL deserves extension (4 years 20mil) OLOFSSON , definitely on NHL player ( got a bad deal with GRANATO , SHATTERED his confidence , has value for trade)
WAYNE , with your train of thought we are going to have the same soft team we have had . We need the infusion of real NHL caliber players ( physically and mentally) 0 confidence that the GM has what it takes to assemble a real NHL team . As far as the new coach ,we are going back to the Stone Age . My guess is that in two years we will be looking for a new GM AND COACH. ( really would love to be wrong) . Everyone thinks we have all this talent in the AHL and juniors, Europe , the fact of the matter is that we have same soft barely NHL caliber players at All levels) need different types of players. One question : what to do with SKINNER? ( unless he is on the top line he is useless) . My thinking is that you need another goalie besides UPL , one minimum physically tough DEFENDER, ONE FIRST line winger , one second line center , three fourth line players ( total 7 new players ) .
Same, with all due respect I disagree and it's basically because of all the prospects. In two years from now the team should just be taking off with players entering their prime and young players on cheap contracts coming up. Look at Toronto signing Tavares as some kind of savior was a mistake, you just need a tweek here and there so when the kids come up they're playing with talented veterans not backpacking fourth line scrubs.

Ryan Johnson was soft as mink fur in AHL playoffs, the guy has zero offensive talent, can’t shoot or pass, never hits but he looks good in the uniform…Robinson never takes penalties, we need more grit than him.
He's a kid. Needs to develop, he's got a good ceiling
