@mrchewy I have accepted many Sabres fans opinions for a long time but there is so much groupthink and negativity now that I think it should be challenged. Franchises can actually become destroyed by negativity. Watch the Vice documentary on the 90s and 2000s Cleveland Browns.

@@bjarczyk so if I hear you correctly you’re saying that it is Possible that the Sabres Organization could be destroyed by Fans opinions? And … that you have taken on this challenge to help us uneducated Sabres Fans in saving the Organization? So having the worst NHL Playoff drought doesn’t give us “The Fans” any opportunity to voice our opinion? Especially since the King of this Organization “Pegula “ stated he won’t raise ticket prices…he’ll just dig a new well…I believe as a Sabres Fan since. Their inception And probably have paid thousands of $$ for entertainment I have more than enough of a right to be negative now. Change something and get into the playoffs and I’ll be more positive.

100%, our fans entitlement to be angry, whine and complain with no purpose, and the inability to see the bigger picture can absolutely lead to collapse. The Browns continuously fired coaches, GMs, drafted divas, the fans ran Bill Bellichek out of town, gave up on multiple rebuilds and it led to a nonstop vicious cycle of hell. It’s delusional of our fans to not see the current groundwork that has been set. Never in Sabres history have we seen a rebuild all the way through. A big part of why we’ve never won a cup.

@@bjarczyk well I’d like to take this moment and Thank You your most holy one. I never knew that being normal and having my right to voice my opinion had such a major impact on an entire organization. I will beg for your forgiveness and run any complaints I may have in the future through you prior to posting. To think I actually tried to voice my opinion is unbelievable. How is this comment??
I am so grateful for the last 14 years of mediocrity and non playoff seasons. I know that this organization is doing wonderful under the business acumen of any and all Pegula hires. It was brilliant to hire multiple GMs without any experience and don’t forget the magical move to employ a Soccer coach as our Hockey Coach. But hey at least I can take out a Second Mortgage for future tickets and we can appreciate the kindest hockey team in the league.

    Wayne - love the channel.
The future looks bright for this team. If Quinn played the majority of games last year, they would have been a playoff team. His improvement is evident. With all the pieces and role players they've selected, combined with their developing core, they are poised to be contenders. Quinn, Peterka, Tage, Tuch, and Cozens all have the potential to score 30+ goals. With added speed and toughness, this team will be feared and respected.

You are bang on. We got him because he addresses several things Adams mentioned on the last seasons exit interviews. He wanted defensive minded players, this guy is that in spades. He has the speed to make the defense slip up on offence and his speed is what got him the 97% defensive prowess. I'm sure Ruff had input in all the signings/trades.

  • @KetoFitChef
    @KetoFitChef Місяць тому +3

Just remember that the 2006-2007 team that went on to win the Presidents Trophy was coached by Ruff and was built on Speed and toughness.
Not saying this team will do more than make the playoffs and make some noise, but I and seeing a lot of similarities now that some of these players have been brought it.
If UPL and Levi can combine for what Miller did that year, we should be in great shape.

A “what if” lineup… Think of the Centers ahead of McLeod, in Edmonton. Yet he still got 15 a night. Do we know how good he really is? What his ceiling really is?
    Peterka - McLeod - Thompson
    Quinn - Cozens - Tuch
    Zucker - Benson - Greenway
    Malenstyn - Lafferty - Aube-Kubel
    Byram - Dahlin
    Power - Jokijarju
    Samuelsson - Clifton
    UPL

IMO Edmonton screwed themselves by resigning the old guys , Henrique & Perry and letting Fogele and Macleod leave. Their loss is our gain😊
Adams needed a third line centre who is fast ,can kill penalties and is good on faceoffs and Macleod perfectly fits that bill! I love how Adams has rebuilt the Sabres bottom 6 this summer , as well as the addition of Calgary D man Dennis Gilbert who also brings some grit & toughness! The bottom 6 forward group is now FAST& TOUGH instead of SLOW & SOFT! And yes I definitely think the Sabres will easily make the playoffs next spring. Thanks for the video Wayne, hope your back feels better soon .

Savoie is a top prospect indeed, but still not a Sabres regular liner.
I dont think we should keep banking on prospect to much longer. We need to make some moves that improve our roster matching our strategy and game plan right now on this moment!
We still have some good prospects and talents in our pool but i feel its time to step up now with more experience, toughness and overall balance between our lines.
Still i would love to see him stay as a full Sabre and skate a full season with us.
    Thanx for the video Wayne!
    A pleasure as always :)
Keep up the great work and lots of happiness, health and luck with the upcoming powerforward!

We traded potential offense for guaranteed defense. McCleod is an elite defensive forward. We already have a guy similar to Savoie on the team. Benson is a similar skillset. He outplayed Savoie when they played together in juniors and Benson is a more physical player. I'm really liking the way this roster is shaping up. Coming out of the lockout the Sabres were projected to be a bottom feeder team. We saw what Lindy did then. I don't think this team is built too different from that team.

Savoie is much like Benson, not huge but plays bigger than his physical stature. He will do well in oil town, good luck to him. McLeod makes 2.1 million, if he doesn’t work out who cares, we can just call up Rosen, Kulich or someone else. Guys act like we just traded for a guy with 8-10 mill cap hit. I tend to agree.. Adams does draft well, but they are all skilled guys. Other teams get physical guys in later rounds but we still seem to find quality skilled players there to. That's good in a way, but we need the balance too. Adams is still learning and there are things in the last year that he's been guilty of that he's showing that he's learned.. 1 the need for physical players and 2. We are loaded with skilled forwards in our prospect pool that we will never have room for all of them.. and 3. His achilles heel up until this year... he's gotten to attached to some of the players.. laster years UFA resigns showed that.. Okposo should have been left to walk last year... His move of Middlestadt mid-season(great trade) all he talked about was that Casey being a good friend... GM's can't get tied up in being a Friend or having favorites.. got back to watching the movie Little Big League... the kid owned the team and as was pointed out to him... you can't afford to be a fan when in management... Kevin has been guilty of being friends with the commodities of his sport. He's breaking that and the moves of Casey, Kyle and now Matt show he's finally broken that. the only problem now is... I can't wait for the season to start (in part because our temps until about opening day will be in the triple digits... gotta love Phoenix) to see this team he's put together and added back in Lindy...

If you listen to Adams’ press conferences from last season and the season before that his whole rebuild philosophy was giving ice time and chances for certain types of players to see what we have and if it would continue to work out. That meant letting Krebbs develop in his role, giving Jost and Olofsson a shot. For all we knew then that could’ve worked out. It was worth a try for a young team in a rebuild. I think they’ve also been training in phases and the physicality and grit is finally a goal this year.

Hate to rain on everyone’s parade, but Edmonton fans and most neutrals are scratching their heads at this trade. I think we are valuing McLeod WAY more than anyone else.
Let us also mention that the player Adams traded a second for immediately filed gor salary arbitration. You think that might have come up in the trade negotiations, “Oh, by the way, he is looking for X$, which we will not pay so good luck with that. Thanks for the Second.”

They need to make playoffs first. Expecting a Stanley cup anytime soon is greatly exceeding expectations and unrealistic. Savoie reminds me of the next Tyler Ennis. Small, fast and skilled but his lack of size never allowed him to be any better than a middle-six forward. He had a very nice career overall, but he wasn't a star by any stretch of the imagination. I see the same future as a best-case scenario for Savoie.

    • @gootvansquid
      @gootvansquid Місяць тому +2

Savoie is already bigger than Ennis ever was lol. People keep saying he's small; he's 5'10" ~180 now, and i'm sure he won't get smaller. People are now reaching to talk down on the kid as an argument to people saying they don't like the trade. good lord. He's closer to Danny Briere and he's bigger than Danny Briere was as well.

@@gootvansquid Dear Goof: Laugh's on you, Jackass. Ennis listed at 5'9" and 176 lbs. Briere listed at 5'9" and 174 lbs. Damn, you're a fuckin' genius. I inch and 4 pounds bigger than Ennis and 1 lnch and 6 pounds bigger than Briere. Savoie's an absolute MONSTER compared to those two. I mean, there's bigger and then there's...BIGGER. We're not talking BIGGER here, we're talking bigger in little tiny letters. Then there's Connor Bedard, listed at 5'10" and 184 lbs. who was run at constantly last year and did get his jaw broken...and lookie here...he's the "biggest" of the 4 players mentioned here. What fun must be in store for Matty? So, keep on believing the snake oil you're peddling and in the kid you're white knighting for. Only time will tell what becomes of Savoie but all he needs is one more good hit on his ALREADY surgically repaired and twice reinjured shoulder and he'll be playing beer league hockey with one arm. So, nice (but very lame) try. He's some advice from someone who's watched...and played (beer league!) hockey for much longer than you've been on the planet...don't give up your day job for that spot on the debate team.

Darcy would have got better value. Trade needed to be made, absolutely, but Savoie is a hell of a hockey player. The entire league is laughing at us for giving up a Top 10 pick, a future stud, for a 3rd liner. It's as bad as any Tim Murray trade imo.

It’s too simplistic and one dimensional to say future stud for 3C. McLeod’s defensive stats are incredible. This alone makes up for loss in goal scoring by keeping pucks out of our net. It’s like trading a young running back for an elite cornerback.

He’s not here for physical play, although he could be coached to hit more. He is 97th percentile in defense and unbelievable on the PK. Not to mention his face off stats. Our team got so much better defensively. With Lindy coaching situational hockey and lineup matches, this could be the small adjustments we needed to become a playoff team.
