Until you get like what happened in 1929 when the stock market crashed and prices didn't get back to that level until 1953. Alot people jumping from windows in the early 30s
Mathematically, the probability of winning the lottery jackpot is about the same whether you buy a ticket or not. I still do it though, from time to time!
It's a good ETF to invest in long term say 10 yrs plus. There's always the chance of a crash. We haven't had a proper crash for over a decade so it's overdue! If you're thinking of retiring in the near future I would be cautious.

What happened in 2020 then ?
I wouldn't call that a proper crash, it was caused by a very rare event being COVID but it very quickly recovered. The last proper crash was 2008
