It's called investing in yourself, you have a choice to pay it or not. I've chose not to (so far) but I don't resent someone trying to make money for themselves using their knowledge.
Ignorant comment, do you think he should spend ages making a course to help people and sell it for £10 in a market that maybe has only a few hundred potential customers per year. Save your money either way, as I don't think you have a realistic enough outlook to handle the swings.
