He’s always been the “6th” Stone. Mick, Keith, Brian all knew they wouldn’t be The Stones without Stu but Andrew Oldham had a vision and Stu’s old man face didn’t fit that. But the great thing is he knew it too and said F that who cares I’m playing with The Stones! Rock solid boogie woogie blues piano! ❤️🎹
@@edf9682 exactly, Oldham "kicked" him out of the band, but he always was the 6th Stone and their piano player for the '60s, '70s and early '80s; played in every damn tour
You have the Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin and Montrose all playing this song. Mr Cochran's contribution to Rock 'n Roll as we know it, might just be a little under-rated.
You pay a small fortune, take hours to get inside and get relaxed, Then out comes the Stones and Mick! And the songs in A flat? Micks singing it in C major. Ahhh, those were the days...
I do believe that was Ian "Stu" Stewart on keyboards, who co-founded the Rolling Stones with Brian Jones, and died about 4 years after this concert at the age of 47. RIP!
You're right, and I've been a die hard Stones fan for over 40 years. They rush right through this song whereas Cochran made it I to a story. I have a recording of the Stones doing the same thing to Hound Dog in Memphis in 1978, which they did as tribute to Elvis. Just blew right through it to get it over with.
@@sweetassugar2076 Mick and his mates are true legends of their own milieu. There are however, “Rock n Roll Originals” all others mere copiers of the genre.
Ian Stewart saved this one with some very tasty boogie piano. Jagger sings nearly every song the same way. Doesn't matter if it's blues, pop, or rockabilly. Here, his voice is all over the map - No match for Eddie Cochran.
People love this band. Get over it. They will be around as long as they want to. They don't need to promote their "empire", they just need to pitch up and play wonderful shows, which they do on a very regular basis. Have you seen them live lately-or ever?
The first gig I saw was on April 22, 1979. It was the Keith concert for the blind in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada after he got busted. I've seen them several times at least 15 gigs. Always hoping that they'd get it together. They were spot on at times, but not most of the time. That's all. I don't need a stranger to tell me to "get over it". I had a relationship with that corporation at one point. I know what they're all about. Enjoy them if you do.
And I don't need a stranger to tell me this is a "glorified bar band" of "posers". I suspect you harbour some grudge against the "corporation" but I've simply enjoyed them for 55 years in all their various incarnations. While never unaware of some of their shortcomings in various facets, they've brought me a lot; so to see your childish and unfair criticism (this from a veteran of 28 shows from '76-18) was deserving of rebuke.
Unbelievable greatness- I have listened to this hundreds of times, and over 40 years later I am not stopping!
Never heard this and I'm a fanatic. These guys can play anything.
IT's on STILL LIFE CD..
Ian Stewart will always be missed..listen to him rock that piano!!!
I didn't know that he passed away.

Love the way the Stones pay their due to their musicals influences.

It s underrated ,he is a forgetten pioneer
At least they got paid (Eddie Cochran and co-writer Ned (short for Nelda) Fairchild, that is).
Has Jimmy paid for this yet? Otherwise please disregard this 50 year collecton invoice. Thank you Led Zeppelin. Oh yeah what album?

Stones up at the Top.. on their own, always true, always fresh... Ronnie rocks the Telecaster...in true Stones rock'n'rolling mastering..
Marcou minha adolescência.

You are correct sir.
Lovely!!Ian Stewart,king of boogie-woogie!!!
That band rocks!
Maybe they should make a record lol
Te queremos, Rolling Stones. Merecen una oportunidad. Saludos desde Chincolco.
I was there! 17 years old, December 1981. I was hoarse for two days.
i was hoarse after seeing them in boston 1994, GREAT TIME!!!
Stu! Incredible Stu!
Never saw the Stones live. Too many band back then. Couldn't see them all.
Now Charlie "the Jazzman" met up with "boogie Man" Ian Stewart and multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones. RIP Charlie!
Y asi... mick jagger entro a los beatles v:
Great, offbeat choice, fun to play at home.
Great! Stone's version of this song is different from Paul's one.
Nice, remember Eddie..
Keef in the guitar...
The song Sir Paul did to join the band
Anyone ever asks me what rock and roll is I’ll show them thos
Check out the videos of Paul McCartney, too.
Sir Jeagger are 🥵
Listen to Eddie Cochrans version . He would blow them away pure and simple . He was something else !!
Bravooo🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹, it's true

Hmmm...Eddie Cochran's recorded version of 20 Flight Rock is 1:45...and Hound Dog is a few seconds over 2 minutes.
Very clever pun probably over everybody else's head. (And your reference was my favourite Eddie Cochran track).
Its just fact that some covers are better than the originals, f.e. some Bob Dylan songs..dont beat me for this ;-)
Ian Stewart 🎹 ❤️
This is how the Stones would have been if they never had made it ,and played at The Moose lodge on Saturday night .
More like the Beatles. Stones would be Muddy and Chuck covers.
🎩
Great punk number!👍
It's not punk, it's rockabilly.
@@anthonydeluco8846 Yes, far from punk!
Ian Stewart was a piano master. I don't care for Chuck Leavell.
Chuck is somewhere between Ian and Nicky, good one.

Ian Stewart, and the solo of Ronnie Wood. The song is too short for me .
The song that got Mick into the Band. LOL
You mean the pussy Beatles.
@@steveconn you re so gay
No it was the song that got Paul into The Beatles.

When Mick Jagger sings "Brown Sugar," I must make African love

Sorry, not a patch on Eddie’s original so don’t give up the day job Mick.

Strange, Jagger sing like Jagger, good covers rules.
That sucks Mick! Eddie was the greatest rocker ever!
Bravo, bravo exactly😕👍👍👍👍😁😁😁
Dreadful version..As was Bill Wyman who persuaded the band do take this song on..
This song doesn't suit Mick at all. Also sounds as if he needs to sing it in a higher key.
This is a mess.
That sounded like shit
Eddie version IS better i hâte the stones i prefer the Beatles
What are you doing here, you're lost.
What a dreadful version.
Yikes. The Beatles did this song about a thousand times better
Beatles never played it, except Paul's audition song for the Quarrymen.
@@steveconn “Never” might be a bit strong.
Not a fan of Mick's singing here. Characterless.
Glorified bar band. Posers. Not rebels.
Really? How many bar bands you're acquainted with wrote the likes of Gimme Shelter and fill 60,000-seat shows in their mid-70s? Idiot. Not smart.
How many people promoted their empire? Idiot. Less than smart not to notice.
