Garlic Fantasy No. Cotton picking is a style where a bass rhythm is kept by hitting the bass strings with the fingers and where the treble melody is played with the thumb. Flipping the guitar upside down doesn't just make it cotton picking.
First of all, it's easy if that's the way you start playing right from the beginning. Secondly, Paul didn't play upside down.. He wast just a left-handed guitarist. The strings were correct. Hendrix on the other hand could do what you say.
Exactly. I also love that in 1975 John Lennon released the album "Rock and Roll", where he covered great songs that inspired him such as; "Stand by Me", "Be Bop a Lula", "Sweet little Sixteen" and "Peggy Sue". When the greats go back to what inspired them it's a fantastic revelation.
Paul tells how he first met John with his teenage skiffle band,The Quarrymen, on that fateful day, July 6, 1957, at Church social in Liverpool. And Paul plays 20 flight rock and how he impressed John because he knew the chords( John only knew banjo chords his mother had taught him). The very beginnings of The Beatles!
I love when Paul plays 20 Flight Rock. Playing 🎸 with his left hand. He really has a cool swagger playing this song. I think he & George Harrison had to show. John Lennon the guitar cords. They were all so young.
@@Jobobyman In fact, he didn't like it at first. I saw his interview on where he said he even complained abvout it to the director. Sam Taylor Wood. Lots of things that never happened. He didn't like the way they described Mimi at all. She was never that bad. But Sam told him it was not supposed to the truth, It was only entertainment, not a documentary. So he kind of accepted it. I didn't. I disliked that movie very much. I don't feel entertained watching lies.
Your greatgrandma was one cool COOL "chick" and part of world history bro! I think that's the best pure R&R ever written (bar none) and Paul plays & sings the sweet Jesus outta it. Another little known fact was that Rod Stewart was singing 20 Flight Rock on a train station when Long John Baldry heard him (after a Long John Baldry gig) and told him to come the following week to jam with them . The rest is history.

As a Guitarist, he is always overlooked by other's who don't know the Beatles that well. That Beatles sound is his baby, John and George helped educate the child
He is FANTASTIC : ) I know it sounds like a cliche for all the very passionate 'Beatles fans out there like myself who can relate to this, but it is sooo true : ) Even although Paul, like all the other musical geniuses are much better suited to doing their own songs and flourishing in their own unique style, I really do love Paul singing the older songs. And he was always sooo inspiring, especially for guitar playing. The Beatles - my first love in music and I will love them forever : )
Teenage John was the standout talent of his little skiffle group, with dreams of being famous and making it big. The immensely talented young teen Paul McCartney chops out and sings 20 flight Rock for John., Hell Yes you’re in the band now Paul ! 😆.., his confidence and star quality must’ve been massively apparent., just what you were looking for John ! It’s incredible to me that two of the most significant talents of modern music, of our entire planet , grew up in the same town, and met each other. My father was born in 1916, but over time grew to appreciate what they’d done, he was quite a Beatles fan in his later years. Them being from the same town ., my dad said it must’ve been written in the stars.
I wish I could have hung around the Beatles back when they started out. I wasn't born yet. And I cannot play. But to experience their evolution would have been a trip!
I am not a fan of Paul McCartney, but he is too modest about how well he plays this song. He really captures the rhythm but also, very particularly, Cochrane's unique way of pursing the words. Most people could not do that without overdoing. Paul gets the languaging down very much in Conchrane's style, very naturally, without exaggeration, as if of course that is how these words are sung---but it wasn't how anybody else could really sing, except maybe a couple of the best early rockers from the U.S. Impressive. It could not have been, as Paul says, that John was just impressed that Paul knew all the words. It must have been that John was really impressed with Paul knowing the precise style in which to deliver and sing the words. Even decades later Paul's way of doing so is SUPERB.
Nobody starts by making original music. Everyone has to be inspired by something or someone, so its nice to hear Paul play something that obviously inspired him as a young lad. It shows character, shows that they're real people. Who ever posted that he was a copy cat is a moron. Half of the "Please Please Me" album is nothing but The Beatles covering some of their favorite songs.

Ooh, well I got a girl with a record machine
When it comes to rockin' she's the queen
We love to dance on a Saturday night
All alone where I can hold her tight
But she lives on the twentieth floor uptown
The elevator's broken down
So I'll walk one, two flight, three flight, four
Five, six, seven flight, eight flight, more
Up on the twelfth I'm startin' to drag
Fifteenth floor I'm a-ready to sag
Get to the top, I'm too tired to rock
When she calls me up on the telephone
Say, come on over honey, I'm all alone
I said, baby you're mighty sweet
But I'm in bed with the achin' feet
This went on for a couple of days
But I couldn't stay away
So I'll walk one, two flight, three flight, four
Five, six, seven flight, eight flight, more
Up on the twelfth I'm startin' to drag
Fifteenth floor I'm a-ready to sag
Get to the top, I'm too tired to rock
Well, they sent to Chicago for repairs
Till it's a-fixed I'm a-usin' the stairs
Hope they hurry up before it's too late
Want my baby too much to wait
All this climbin' is a-gettin' me down
They'll find my corpse draped over a rail
But I'll climb one, two flight, three flight, four
Five, six, seven flight, eight flight, more
Up on the twelfth I'm startin' to drag
Fifteenth floor I'm a-ready to sag
Get to the top, I'm too tired to rock
