I think some of this is a little mixed up. HPV is human papilloma virus not herpes and HSV is herpes simplex virus. but you're talking about herpes on the HPV (warts) section.

The info in this lecture and PowerPoint is incorrect.
HPV is Human Papilloma Virus. Warts. There are over 200 variants of the virus that causes warts. There are typically 9 that can cause cancerous lesions in the genital area, nose, throat, mouth. The HPV vaccine may serve some protection against development of cancer if given at any age.
HSV-1, and HSV-2 are herpes Simplex virus’ that may cause lesions in and around the mouth or in the genital area. There is no cure for either of these however there is treatment with antiviral medications that help to reduce viral load, and there are creams such as Docosanol (Abreva) that can help to reduce lesion size and length of time they are present.
I think it’s important to differentiate between these two types of infections (HPV vs HSV) But they are alike in that neither has a cure and often reoccur throughout one’s life.
