The original tree house stream lost 30k viewers when they showed bakugan
Actually 70k viewers
They ended up losing all of their viewers because they put the Treehouse vid on private

I was one of them i don't care much about bakugan.
@@adam-8900 lol last i saw was 30k dislikes
It was at 46k dislike when I looked
It looks like a nice adventure game. I still preferred when the series was an RPG though
Same, I liked Super, Color Splash and I'll probably like this one but the first 2 were just better.
Yeah, it might be different from the originals, but honestly, I've still got high hopes for it. Nothing wrong with an adventure game.
I think we just have to come to terms that Paper Mario is no longer a rpg series
It looks repetitive and boring
@@bluebomber875 I've fully accepted that a long time ago. Paper Mario hasn't been a RPG for over 13 years.
"One of the *new* things here is you now have this big interconnected world, whereas in previous titles in the series you had like an overworld map." It's almost like they've completely forgotten the first few Paper Mario games ever existed.
Actually only 64 had an actual connected world
DashingIb ttyd was definitely connected
God I hate Paper Mario fans. They criticize and don’t even know what they are talking about.
Open world in an RPG bad?
@PortalWizard Okay, true, but they made it sound like all the past titles used a world map.
I can't wait to walk past every. single. enemy in this game
Is there no reason to battle?
Then you won’t have money to buy anything
@@Dmpurcell90 well no EXP
Yea it seems like money really will be important in this, all they have to do is make things thousands of coins and boom. Obviously things can be cheap like the Monty mole bargain, but spending hundreds of coins to add a second to a battle, or have the toads help, and because it gives lots of confetti, but I’m sure if you’re not trying to 100% the game, you could walk past the enemies just fine
Well the game would be much quicker if you battled.
God, the battle system seems overly confusing and too simple at the same time. I REALLY want to like this game but the more I see the more I get incredibly worried.
That ring mechanic looks nice for 4 years old kids.
Its gonna be painfull to keep spinning around that thing after getting involved in every single battle, imagine getting into 10 random battles, this is gonna slow the pace so badly of this game.

absolutely. and it was nintendos choice to just not give us what we would have loved and instead sprinkle in stuff that ranges from: "oh no not another sticker star/color splash type of mechanic". to: "well i guess its kinda fun but who asked for this". what is it with nintendo and this series? who at nintendo keeps being like: "i loved sticker star and color splash, lets do more of it". i can only imagine myamoto being the one, like it was in sticker star.
So far from what I read its basically 1/3rd good 1/3rd bad 1/3rd bakugan
Yeah, and I completely understand both sides. I’m currently leaning towards good, but the thing is we don’t know how useful coins are yet, I personally hope that if you get a lot of them (I’m saying a lot because it seems the game LOVES to give you coins) you could get a lot of cool abilities. But I’m 90% sure they have some abilities but they only cost like 2000-3000, which is sad because it seems that’s easy to get.
I can’t wait to find hundreds of toads and avoid battles. They didn’t want to keep repeating thousand year door but, keep repeating sticker stars.
EXACTLY!!
In all honesty, the coins have an actual use now. The items are crazy expensive, and you won’t be showered with them but only spend like 50 for a weapon. And it buys upgrades, gear, etc. you can even buy some stats, so I guess that’s a welcoming replacement.
@@JugularJohn But why are they doing it? Why is it so difficult to put EXP in the game?
@@mrjohnful Maybe there just trying something new I guess
@@JugularJohn People with the games are saying they get showered with coins for exploration and in the overworld in general. It seems that battling won't be necessary once again
And the award for best Paper Mario game for Nintendo Switch this year goes to... Pa- Bug Fables!

Johnathon Turner I don’t mean to take sides here but the clamoring of Paper Mario fans can only be heard with the release of a new title in the series. Like this one, while undertale fans can be heard clamoring about undertale all the time, like in this Paper Mario video.

I've played the originals and honestly I'm excited for this one. I get missing the old game's styles, but I don't mind a genre switch.
I *do* want to see a replacement mario rpg, whether they revive mario and luigi, or make another seven stars.
@@inky2412 The genre switch would be alright if it kept that same spirit that TTYD perfected. I don't think people were all that upset about SPM because it had weird lore and multi-layered characters. Wasn't really my thing, personally, but I can respect what it was going for. Sticker Star and Color Splash, though... it's hard not to see them as overall downgrades. The writing amounts to little more than wacky paper-related jokes and meta meme humor, and the battles are just an uncompelling feedback loop of resource management with the _bare minimum_ of action commands. Like yeah, they have some funny and charming lines, but the previous games had that while also featuring deep characters, stories, and progression.
@CobraKyle there's nothing weeb about the original 3 games
@CobraKyle
jeez, if you want to complain about weeb crap, go complain at fire emblem games since they’re made by intelligent systems as well
I’m so disappointed with what they’ve done to my favourite Mario franchise. Breaks my heart.
Dude this game looks great
I think it looks great, but i respect and understand your opinion :)
Me too man. You know what? It's story time.
Look, I have NEVER played 64 and TTYD, just SPM. I was, like, 7yo at that time. And man, what an experience. Super had such a good story, amazing writing, fun characters. Even the battle system was so, so much fun. Later I discovered the other two games, and I could understand that the past ones were actually turn based, which wasn't for me, but I still liked the leveling up system in Super.
Today, after playing SS and CS, and of course seeing all the footage of TOK untill now, I have a final opinion.
I was very annoyed by the TTYD fans. I had this stupid mindset that all of you were cultists, simple idiots that refused to accept any changes to formula. That's why I hate people that bash Super, just because the gameplay is different. But, well... I finally recognized it. Intelligent Systems clearly ignored the old fans and will probably keep doing it in the future. I slowly started to feel compassion for you, old PM fans. I, little by little, started to feel like a OG fan, amazed by that fantastic world of Paper Mario for 64, GC and Wii. I'm with you boys. Let's make Nintendo finally see how sad we are with this ignorance and nonsense.
@CobraKyle nice bait
@CobraKyle I hope you are trolling, because this argument have literally nothing to consider and doesn't make any sense
2:01 I can’t get over “yuh oh”
Look..to those who are giving the "dislikers" a hard time, you have to understand, this isnt the Paper Mario that we all knew and love. It's like taking a Zelda Game and turning it into a turn based RPG. Of course people aren't going to like the change because that's not the formula it was founded on. The originals were focused on story and progression and had a VERY compelling battle system. They really dumbed this series down and keep experimenting with it. People didnt like this series because it's made out of paper. They liked it because it was an adventure with a fantastic story and had fun character progression with a companion mechanic. Plain and simple.
The Old paper mario never come back, its a new thing forever :P
Paper Mario used to be about going through pages of a story.
Now it's about paper gimmicks & fighting stationary.
Okay. It’s also about fun. Isn’t that was games are about? Having fun? Having something entertaining to do? I like a paper Mario RPG just as much as the next... but I think it’s okay to let go. We have Bug Fables now!

I think the combat system is great. it's unique and everyone hating on it hasn't even played it yet. They're doing something unique and different but people are complaining. There is nothing I want less than the usual experience systems or turn-based combat. Good job Nintendo as usual!
Unique and different means nothing if it doesn’t have the player’s experience in mind. Developers add new things not because they’re improving on the gameplay, but to give the appearance of innovation and differentiation from a marketing perspective. The rotation mechanic is boring and doesn’t add much to the battles other than a basic, mindless puzzle. It’s different, but the concept lacks depth. Which makes it a gimmick as opposed to a gameplay innovation
Video Guy I like it. Is it not okay to be able to like both? I mean... I get the want for am more TTYd style, but why does it HAVE to be paper Mario? Try bug Fables! I’d say it’s far better then paper Mario because it does way more with its world and characters now that it isn’t restricted by its own Ip
Except for the fact that there is no exp in the game. Battle are excluding bosses, ARE OPTIONAL!! There are no rewards other than money. You can literally skip all the enemies and not be in any type of danger or feelings of being underprepared. I just don’t like it. The Paper Mario franchise has always been an rpg. The Battle system is unique, I like the concept, but at the same time it feels like I have no reason to battle, no level up system, no currency you can only get from battles (coins can be found in blocks and confetti repairs) and confetti can be found in the over world as well, if confetti could only be obtained through battles and you needed a certain amount to say... Fix a bridge, or solve a puzzle, or repair a door, or something like that; then it'd be an ok replacement for Experience AND I'd have a reason to battle optional battles and not just the scripted ones.

I'm glad that partners are back at all, I'm not bummed by the fact you can't control them, I'm just glad they're there... What I AM bummed by, is that none of the characters look unique like in 64, ttyd, or spm... It's just the same copy and paste toad but a different color over and over, and Toadette is apparently the ONLY female toad anymore??? At least by design that is, but like, each character, partners, NPCs, they all looked unique, and it's just boring seeing the same thing over and over with no charm or anything... Heck, the BOSSES this time around are literally stuff you'd find on your desk...
I'm not against the series aknowledging it's made of paper, ttyd literally had you turn into a paper boat and plane at times, and I'm surprised they haven't done origami sooner
Lastly, I have nothing against the series in general, I played all the games so far, but... I'm not going to get this one... Not day one at least... I'll get a used copy from GameStop or something later... All other games I had gotten day 1 tho... It feels kinda weird saying it tbh... But I wish Nintendo and intelligent systems would just... listen to the fans? If money really does speak louder than words, then yeah, I'll get a used copy later if I decide to play it later... But I'll gladly get a Remaster for 64, ttyd, and super paper Mario day 1, Even if they were all released on the same day for $60 (although I'd probably get 64 and ttyd first if I couldn't afford it)

Yeah I think many people want that, but I don't think they will ever go back to it unfortunately. Every game that does not have the classic original paper mario and TTYD mechanic are spinoffs imo.
After playing 10 hours into the game so far, what I can say is that the battle system is the thing holding it back from being one of the best paper mario games. It just gets so boring and repetitive with no feeling of reward or satisfaction. If this game had the old battle system with exp, it would for sure have been one of my favourite paper mario games

Alright. I know a lot of people are happy about this one and I’ll admit it’s a step in the right direction. But one thing is clear: this is not the Paper Mario game most of us want. And if you’re into how this is looking, that’s great! For me though this made it clear that this just isn’t a sequel to what made me fall in love with Paper Mario. I don’t understand how after all the criticism I’m still seeing generic Mario characters and battles without XP. I’m a little bit let down to be honest. The initial trailer gave hope, and if this is truly open world instead of world map based then that’s a huggggge step that I commend the team for. This just looks like a weird baby between a good paper Mario and SS/CS to me.
While that's true, I'm just happy to have a new game to add to the ones I have. This'll be a fun game to play after some fun in Dauntless.

They aren't useless. You get a bunch of coins and confetti because you need both. Yes, you run out of both quite easily. Coins can be used by the thousands to buy more accessories and confetti fills in holes, which take up a lot of confetti. There is a point to battles. They avoided them because of time.

It looks charming for what it is, but not what I’m looking for in a Paper Mario game. Guess it’s no longer the series I fell in love with.
it seems shigeru miyamoto is hellbent on doing all he can to destroy the paper mario IP lol
Miyamoto isn't actually to blame; it's the producer: Kensuke Tanabe, who has been the producer of the past three Paper Mario games, who is responsible for a lot of the changes. All Miyamoto did was _suggest_ that they stick to pre-existing Mario characters and species instead of trying to make new ones.
nope thats only part of it, miyamoto always has final say on any mario related product, even the mario rabbids game he made sure you cant platform or control mario in that game for whatever silly reason he thought was necessary, this is no exception to that situation
Matthew St. Cyr I don't know if you heard, but Miyamoto also said to change the battle system because the one from the thousand-years door is too similar to the one of Mario and Luigi. I am not kidding. He really said that.
As with every other direct/treehouse, the worst part of the video is not the gameplay, nor the commentary, but the TOXIC livestream chat.

@NINTENDO_SONYFAN SOLDIER It has nothing to do with nostalgia. They're stripping the series of everything it established, dumbing it down to the point it feels like it's for toddlers, changed genres in the process, and forcing pointless gimmicks and bad game design. CobraKyle Nice epic string of insults. Truly a credible argument.
So, there is no exp points and leveling up? 🤔
No EXP, sorta. You see, with coins you can purchase the accessories which can update your HP, attack power, and even defense. So if you think about it, coins are like the new exp!
This is my perspective, why do you get exp? To make later parts of the game easier. You get coins in battles, which you use to buy stronger attacks. But, I think with a shop system, you can only get so much at a time, which keeps the game challenging and prevents you from grinding in the late game. mariosonickirby1 I don’t think their “creative” I just think their kind of weird, if you don’t like the game that’s fine :)
Why does Nintendo think the way to make Paper Mario good, they have to make all of the gameplay super gimmicky? It makes me feel like I’m playing Mario Party, not Paper Mario, especially on the boss fights. All it takes is a good story with tons of twists, with creative original characters, and partners that you grow close to. The new Paper Mario installments all fall lackluster to the elements that made Paper Mario from okay to amazing.
Tons of plot twist could ruin a thing, remember how anime villains are usually one offs? Super paper mario had one plot that I can think of (dementio) and that was a single plot twist that was alluded to for the entire game except maybe chapter one. Look how SPM turned out. Amazing.
@@AlphaDumb I'm not saying Super Paper Mario wasn't an amazing game, but since the release of Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Paper Mario hasn't been the same. Probably mostly because of Intelligent Systems changing the entirety of the Paper Mario development team.

With the negative reactions from most paper mario games after Thousand Year Door, you'd think Nintendo would go back to what made the first two games great.
Why should they care? If he game still sells, it doesn’t matter.
Honestly I don't like the battling in this game. Not because the system doesn't seem interesting, but because there is no real reason to do it. You can get confetti and coins in the overworld too. In older games you got experience, but now battling seems like a waste of time.
Yeah it seems like they're just using the Paper Mario series to sell some type of gimmick gamestyles nowadays. They've completely given up on the true mainline path of Paper Mario, and turned it into some type of kindergarten-friendly game. The problem is all of the Paper Mario fans they need to be marketing to are older, and have played since the original releases.
I was really desperately hoping for a good game out of this, as I am a huge fan of the original three games, but everything that has been released after those (besides the Mario&Luigi crossover if that counts) all of these newer games are terrible. I'm honestly surprised Sticker Star sold well, because after an hour of playing that game you've just about done everything you can and the rest of the game is just repetition.
It's a shame what they've done with this series. Game developers aren't what they used to be.
Right keep telling yourself that
From what I've seen from leaked copies you get significantly more coins/confetti from battling, and coins are actually useful in bulk, (ex. accessories cost thousands) unlike Colour Splash. Have to wait and see if that's true though, I think people have the stigma that coins are largely useless (and rightfully so)
