Remember: they had to make EVERY one of those puppets, including the transition ones. So there’s a puppet of Iwata with bunny ears somewhere in Nintendo’s offices.

The Wii U era...
So many memories
Most are bad
i dont think so it was rly good ^^
Wolwerock :3 Um you do realize they brought the games over to the switch because the Wii U itself flopped right
I can say this, I did have some good times with my Wii U, but looking back on it, I also remember a lot of problems in that era and how Nintendo was slowly dying at the end of the Wii U’s life. Now I have my Switch and I have been having mostly nothing but good memories with it, even with the lackluster year that was 2018. I am having way more fun with Switch than I ever had with Wii U, though I will always remember the Wii U for all the good memories it brought me and all of the struggles that came along with it 😅
I mean the Wii u was still a good console though....I didn’t mind the tablet as I likes the idea. It was also a big upgrade from the Wii so I’m happy to still have it

Kin Thegamer I LOVE MR. IWATA!
I will forever love the opening to this. Its hilarious. I dont feel as strongly about Star Fox Zero however.
me neither, i would love to finally have a new adventure in star fox, and i mean a really new one
Star Fox Zero was bad; not terrible, just not good. I bought it for the Wii U and beat the game, so I know from personal experience. For me tho the game was more disappointing than anything else. But the worst part about it all, is that Nintendo will see the poor sales and critical reception of the game as indication that the fans don't want another Star Fox game. No, we want a GREAT & ORIGINAL Star Fox game, not a mediocre remake of Star Fox 64 (which, let's be honest, is what Star Fox 64 is).
@@ThaTrueEgyptino92 eh, Nintendo doesn't really listens to fan's opinions, Reggie said it, neither sales. I mean yeah they're company people but Star Fox has never been a hit to begin with, it seems to be Miyamoto who just won't give up on it, however Platinum Games may be our chance to see an evolution to the franchise now that Ubisoft's Starlink showed wether you liked it or not what the concept of that would be, they just need creative and production freedom wether it is with Miyamoto involved or not. about Star Fox Zero? see I don't usually base my game choices on reviews although I search for it. However SFZ has been another whole case where I don't know if I should approach it or not, it seems to be a case of you either love it or hate it, and by watching The Completionist's interviews with Miyamoto it seemed to be developed with passion on refining gameplay, expanding a little bit the dialogue and actually trying to make the controls feel good, I recommend checking that one out. So I tried the demo and all was feeling pretty good and I toyed with getting different records for a while, but the little robot which sucked, might see if I like the full game later.
I'm the weirdo who loves star fox zero i guess

It's sadder now
These E3 events will always be about the games the most, unquestionably. But MAN, the Muppet segments were absolutely incredible.
Though it's not unreasonable to assume this was done for the sake of Iwata's failing health, it's also worth noting Star Fox, whose Wii U game was the star of this E3 showcase, is a franchise heavily inspired by televised puppetry like Thunderbirds. I'm betting Nintendo wanted a way to feature Iwata without him physically being at E3, so it was decided to have Muppet hosts to pay homage to Star Fox's roots.
It was done for that exact reason iwata was in too bad of a shape to film at the time Nintendo did this to help iwata rest as he was close to dying at the time
37:36 Damn, this feels so nostalgic. I got this when i was 10 and im still a huge fan to this day, having played 4 on Switch.

"Nintendo is in a state of transformation"

A lot of people complained how lackluster this Nintendo Digital Event was(including myself), but in all fairness they only showed games that were coming out SOON. Unlike Last Gaurdian and Kingdom Hearts 3 which won't come out for at least another 1,000 years.
+MarutoFighter Probably the worst part was no Zelda U. The game got delayed before we even got a real title.
So true
+MarutoFighter People are still excited for those games none the less. And let's not pretend that Nintendo has never shown off games that didn't come out SOON.
I feel like if they had just shown SOME footage of the next Zelda, people's opinion of this event would be totally different.
+MarutoFighter considering none of the big titles coming soon had impressive new things to show, they should have shown Zelda U.
You can Kinda hear that Iwata was happy but was trying to sound as happy as he can be. Maybe it's just me but yeah. Nintendo will live on but he will be remembered as the Man who made Nintendo Different from every other system but awesome at the same time even when you'd question it. He'll be remembered as the Man who made Nintendo how it is today. We'll miss him. But no more Moping. He left us with Super Mario Maker. A Game where WE can make levels of our own. Where WE can be the Designer. He wanted us to be Happy so lets be Happy with the Game that he and many other Designers Gave to us. Good Bye My Friend.

This E3 was a sad time among good times. That intro is just fantastic. I miss the trio. The Wii U era will always be my favourite era of Nintendo history.
Despite the Wii U being active over the Nintendo Switch, I think that 2013-2015 were amazing years in terms of Nintendo's new activity, I get a ton of nostalgia from it. It's sad that Satoru Iwata didn't live past that last year, but I'm greatful that he lived long enough to give us a wide variety of Nintendo video-games to play in history! I loved this Event! It was amazing from beginning to end.
Ohh. I remember this. This was from the E3 that killed the WiiU.
The point of no return...🤣
The Wii U was dead on arrival, this conference just put the final nail in the coffin for the Wii U
It was already dead when it released Nintendo just didn’t know it yet but it was this very E3 when it all caught up to them and they realized they needed to do something which is the main reason why they were so lazy in 2016 because they just wanted the Wii U to just die so they could get out of the dark place they were in at the time
The Wii U wasn't the only thing that this E3 killed..
*JUST STOP IT’S ALREADY DEAD!*
Oh man, right in the feelings. May Mr. Iwata rest in peace forever :'(
I miss stuff like this
Even if the starfox wii u game wasn't great, we shall all remember this puppet presentation.
Amo ese intro, es de lo más hermoso que haya visto, cuánta falta haces Iwata.
Interesting to see Nintendo re-upload this to their channel. The dislike to like ratio is drastically different than the first time this was uploaded I can imagine due to Iwata's death. R.I.P. That and the fact most have had more time to digest the content. Still doesn't change this was an overall poor showing.

Hello OBE1plays
Rewatching this in 2020 made me feel happy to remember the work and sheer effort Iwata and Reggie strived for. I’m glad they were in their respective positions and Nintendo wouldn’t have be as great as it would ever have been without them.
(Yes, I also love the rest of the staff there, but Reggie’s left and Iwata sadly passed away. I’m just putting this comment here in respect of both of them).

2020 and this still my favorite direct
You know what, I never thought about it until people brought it up. The fact they used puppets, so we don't get to see how ill Iwata was. I always thought that they wanted to try something new. I heard that the man was I'll, but I never thought they would do this specifically.
