I was in phuket last year and was terribly disappointed. Because of the booked hotel I couldn't go back earlier, however I really regretted not staying a few more days in Krabi than I did on Phuket. I was on Kamala, I thought it would be quieter, but it still didn't live up to my expectations. Terribly crowded, getting around quite difficult due to long distances and traffic jams. it was the First long trip, it was easier to follow what was widely recommended and most suggested, however Thailand is so beautiful, for me it was a waste of time to stay on Phuket. it's good to know that there are idyllic places there too, but you can certainly find them not only there.
Kamala beach one of the worst places to stay on the island after patong..phuket is one of the best connected islands to the surrounding islands, that's what gives it the biggest advantage..u can jump on a boat and explore all the islands around it..
Paddy this is so bizarre , I am watching this in our rented Villa between Rawai and Nai Harn. We haven't been here for 8 years. I agree that Phuket gets a deserved reputation for being too busy and too much in certain areas. However the Rawai/Nai Harn/Promthep area is so cool and relaxed but with some really cool places to enjoy the sunset with a drink and some fantastic food, especially Thai Seafood if that's what you like, as we live in the UK this is a very special treat for us. I first came to Kata and visited Promthep Cape in 1996, it's very different now, but still good. I also came here 15 years ago for our Honeymoon. We are here now with our Children and some of my Wife's Thai Family. We absolutely love this area. Oh and we looked at the cocktail menu in Rock Salt this morning and are going to go there for a drink at Happy Hour...... Many Thanks and Best Regards Ivan
I stayed in Rawai post covid and absolutely fell in love with the place. Went back in Feb this year and whilst the places are still nice, its just so busy now. Hopefully when things return to some levels of normality elsewhere in the world, Rawai will return to the quiet, peaceful part of Phuket that made it special.
I honestly do not think it will. Phuket did really well post Covid, people have found out there is so much more than just Patong. Samui has done the opposite, it's gone down hill massively since Covid (8k-10k flights do not help!).
I went to Phuket for the first time 12 years ago and loved everything about it. Then I went back about 5 years ago and it was not what it used to be. Prices for everything tripled and I felt like I needed to learn Russian to fit in. I’m talking specifically about Karon and Kata though. Not sure how other places are nowadays.
I live in Kata, learning Russian is absolutely not required. Prices are pretty similar to most other big cities and tourist hotspots in Thailand, but certainly higher than rural areas, which shouldn't be surprising.
Well 120 Baht for a Pad Thai in a random restaurant is pretty steep and it doesn’t even cost that in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Kata Noi beach packed full of Russian tourists must’ve been in an alternate reality then 😂
@@TomHK330 You can definitely find Pad Thai for less than 120 baht in Kata. I know a food cart who does excellent Pad Thai for 80 baht. I know a cafe that does a good Pad Thai for 99 baht. I mean, that difference is generally 20-40 baht max. Though I do find that people tend to compare the cheapest places they can find in other areas, to some of the more expensive places in Phuket, but an extra dollar or so ought not be breaking the bank, I wouldn't describe 40 baht as being outrageously overpriced.
I do agree that 30-40baht difference is not a lot for us and I’m not trying to bash Phuket. I just pointed out that it changed compared to the first time I went there and I didn’t enjoy it as much anymore. I guess that’s just part of tourism as most touristy places adapt and change constantly. Of course that’s my personal opinion and I’m sure there are still a lot of people that don’t agree with me which is completely fine.
Hi Paddy, love the video! Your “Fan Palm” is likely a Travellers Palm 😁 I love this plant too and always notice it in parks and gardens. They get really big! Another great one is the Giant Bird of Paradise, it can look very similar but will have spikey whitish flowers and sometimes grows multiple trunks in a bunch. Thanks for highlighting some local plant life in your video. I like plants haha. Greetings from Brisbane 💚☀️🌴
Loved this peaceful retreat you shared with us. I'd love to stay there so I'm definitely going to check it out. I enjoy the crowds and bustling markets from time to time. But I was born and raised in an island beach town so my heart is forever tied to turquoise waters & watching the sunsets.

Thank you Paddy for taking the effort making videos after videos introducing places that both hidden and most visited by tourists. I’ve watched your Vietnam vlogs many times as I’m heading to Sapa tomorrow! Plus, I’ll be joining Mt Kinabalu climbing in this coming August as well. Your interesting video of conquering the mountain previously has been helping me to prepare myself a lot especially mentally. Thanks once again and do keep up the good work! Cheers!😊
This brought back memories of the party video at the end of your provinces series. Nice to revisit places and meet the people who run them. Nice cinematography.
I am glad you enjoy Phuket. It is the island with, by far, the most history, culture, and authenticity, not to mention stunningly beautiful beaches, water, and landscapes, but so many people absolutely slate it and write it off.
Also, I used to live in Rawai, and wouldn't recommend it these days. It's become VERY pretentious, and insanely overpriced (this makes sense, as the restaurants know they are catering to wealthy expats and not Thais or tourists), and the traffic there is bad. Happy where I am in Kata. That said, Phuket is a very diverse island, and has something for everyone. Just such a shame that some people come, stay in places like Patong, and then think that the entire island is just as Patong is. Definitely has to be the best overall island in Thailand, as it has everything on offer, and, the reality is, in this age of social media and influencers and all of that, tourists aren't going to be able to escape crowds anywhere they go, as everything has pretty much been discovered. Not really such a thing as a hidden gem anymore.
I stumbled upon this beach yesterday at sunset. I think I’ll go down there again for a little bit today. Such an awesome beach. Got to see hermit crabs too!
Hiya Paddy. Loved this. Gorgeous who would not want to visit. Beach house. Wow. That was huge. Sorry for the lack of comments. Been blessed with two grandbabies this year. The beach. Wow. Gorgeous. Paradise. Walking on the beach. Gorgeous views and all those fur babies. Best breakfast around. R and M. Great to hear you did not film much. And soaked in your environment. Very envious. Have a great week.
Paddy - hello from Brisbane 🇦🇺 Love your energy and vids mate when I get a chance to watch. Travel is the best thing for one’s souls and YOU mate, have the ability to turn it into a business….. congrats and thank you . We (wife and I ) cannot wait to get there to Thailand 🇹🇭 to explore for a couple of months! Cheers mate👍🏼
Beautiful house, on this semi-private beach not so complicated to find on Google Maps 😀 This tree is a traveller's tree or Ravenala madagascariensis: It's called a "traveller's tree" because the sheaths of the stems hold rainwater, which supposedly could be used as an emergency drinking supply for needy travellers.
Travellers Palm. The shape of the sheats holds water after raining for a short time in the axel. After that the sheats does have little do no water in the tissue. In emergency you have to cut the stem in pieces witch holds a lot of water.
This airbnb listing has been reorted by several people for having fake reviews. Even the google maps pin has fake reviews on it. One of the airbnb reviews was even removed after reporting!!! They recieved a bad review and somehow got it removed
I am selling my beach house after 40years there....what they never tell you is the unrelenting maintenance due to the winds and the sea salt ...I will definitely be looking at weekenders like this to just enjoy the coast.
Hi bruv yes it is a fantastic place to visit and will be back in August again for our 19 th Phuket trip, wish you would of been there, my wife and I would of loved to meet you, our sense of Thailand seems to be the same, anyway thanks for the vlog it just makes me more excited to be coming back again soon. Cheers
Awesome, i Love ❤Thailand, happy Songkran Paddy, stay happy😊best regards and enjoy the feast time 💦cheers and chock dee pi mai !🎉🍀🙏 .....but i think you should come to Europe, its spring and soon summer - perfect to explore f.ex. Paddy this such a fantastic video, thank you! I’ve been to lots of different places in Thailand as a backpacker many years ago, but now have a 3 year old and I’m looking at the idea of Phuket for a few weeks over Feb/March 2025. I’ve never been to Phuket before but like the idea of the Kata Beach area. Would you recommend this area for children? Thanks so much!
I've lived in Rawai since the Covid/Phuket Sandbox days. I wish it was still as quiet and cheap as it was back then! I still love it but it's so busy now. And I can't believe I used to live really close to that secret beach and I didn't even know it was there.
Dogs on the beach ...my kinda place. I am seeing a recurring theme of you settling into a home style property recently. Maybe time to do just that and write a book my friend. Oh the tales we can't tell😂😂😂
300 euros a night is pretty steep, even for a very cozy and secluded place like this. But renting for a month is waaay waay out of my league i'm afraid.
i must say for the price the house is way to expensive. It's incredible how Phuket prices increased over the years, but 330 Euros a night do also rent a luxurious beach villa in Phuket, if it's not the high season
10,000B a night for a 3 bed with that location is a great deal. You can't get a luxury villa in Phuket on the coast, similar location for less than $1000 a night.
Agreed, it does appear so, but as Paddy didn’t disclose anything, we simply don’t know. A simple note saying ‘this is my favourite apartment, but I paid for it’ or ‘I was given a free 2 night stay in exchange for a video - BUT this is an unbiased review’ would clarify things. Maybe I’m spoiled by J Kenji Lopez or Adam Ragusea, who are very transparent about any perceived financial gain from their content. A few years ago, another Thailand based UA-camr had several videos promoting a stunning property on an island. It looked amazing, Paddy even visited once for a party. Thankfully Paddy mentioned in that video that the other UA-camr had shares/financial interest in the property. This was never disclosed by the UA-camr who had shares in the property, throughout his many videos. In other recent videos, this same UA-camr was promoting his Thailand travel app (which is not a good app btw) and doesn’t mention he owes the app. I am of the opinion that transparency and disclosures of financial interests, are good for both viewers and creators.
We actually reported this Airbnb host for leaving themselves fake reviews. One review was actually removed. A few days later they actually had one of their negative reviews removed. There is lots of local airbnb owners very annoyed about it!!!
Phuket???? Seeing that Taylor Swift concert softened you up.... :) hope things are well. I'm in Samui now, Pattaya this Wednesday for a week, then Bangkok for 3 days.
When you call it The Beach House, and it is named The Beach House, it is then no secret. Took 3 seconds to find it. So the guy owning The Beach house charges 10 baht for people to access the beach yet, Beaches along Thailand's coastal provinces -- except areas situated in national parks -- are public spaces accessible by any individuals, but it has become a near normal practice that hotels and some private residences try to restrict the public's use of beaches. So I personally would not support this owner. Let them fail.
They also got reported by locals for leaving themselves fake reviews on Airbnb, one review was removed. They also left fake reviews on the google maps link, many local airbnb owners are talking about it. They had a very negative review removed somehow too
Hey Paddy thanks for your wonderful videos. You have helped me plan many of my destinations as I travel a lot as well. I have lived in Kamala for ten years. If your up this way let me know. Happy to buy you lunch and discuss travel or whatever. I leave for Bali on Wednesday. Leave a message here if your interested and I’ll give you contact information. Cheers!
The cinematography and music in the opening scene are just cheff's kiss👌. Loving the vibe Paddy!!

Paddy Doyle, I subscribed because your videos are super cool!
I love this video. Phuket always gets so much hate, but the island has A LOT to offer-arguably, much more than most other Thai islands.

good to know that theres this side of phuket
Good to see you wandering around Thailand again. You do this very well, will be following again.
I am gonna be honest, scenic beauty of Thailand is unmatchable with your camera Paddy ! I get a lot of wallpapers free 😅

Went to Phuket 2015 & 2016..was not so busy then.

Hello Paddy! Greetings from Da Nang 🇻🇳

normal all thailand hotell and abartement, beds have too hard not can sleep
I am curious Paddy, How did they pay you for the video. I may need a video like this for my resort. Great job.
Looks like a very nice and quiet place. ... I'll take it ! Ha ha. I wish.
Congratulations
Wasn't that carl cox old house ?
Thank you for your time and posting. I did the exchange rate. So, that house is US$33 a day? Thanks again.
I love Rawai!
Rawai was nice pre 2010. Far too busy now with far too much traffic and too much development and too many people...
Best places in Phuket...Rawai, Nai Harn, Yanui Beach !
I would love to be there right now❣ 😎🍸

Rent that for a month and I would have to go back to work. Vlogs getting a bit fancy Dan.
Was there
Have you and Sean king met?it seems he has a lot of admiration for you.( vlogging a dead horse)
Its sad to see those dogs without owners and they are digging up the sand looking for turtle eggs....which is so sad too.
