This is honestly brilliant. I can really see this being the start of a what could potentially be a huge smart home company. This design and mock ups are really well built. I'd recommend applying for a patent for this ASAP before someone else steals this. I see big things for you man, would love to be a part of it, look out for contact from me in the near future.
Really nice idea. Good initiative. I wouldn't buy it unless it stole power from the adjacent switch to power the tablet though. There are products that touch the screws of an 110VAC receptacle for USB charging. This wouldn't work with most switches though as they don't have a neutral. Also I'm in the Google Assistant ecosystem now, so I guess a Google budget tablet implementation would also be required for me to buy. Good luck with V2!
Fantastic idea! This is good motivation for me to get my openHAB HABpanel setup. I'm regretting that I have a Fire 8 and not the 7. I guess I just need to buy a 9th Fire device for the house. I would love to see if anyone comes up with a "safe" way to mount the wall wart inside the wall. I'm guessing those outlets with USB built in are not GFI so having them next to the sink like shown isn't up to code. Or am I wrong?
Haha habpannel is fantastic I love it! Welcome to the club I also got a lot of fire devices, they just never stop lol. I think it is up to code because it is pretty far away from the sink.

The HD 8 has twice the storage, brighter and larger screen, higher resolution, is faster and also has Show mode (Echo Show Interface) for the same $49.99 of the fire 7. I suggest you start making the mounts for the HD 8. I was thinking of buying 3 of your mounts which are great but would rather buy the HD 8 instead of the 7. I will buy 4 of the mounts as soon as you make them for the Fire HD 8.
oh man this is really really cool. Being able to fit larger gang boxes would be nice. but if you could do something like this www.snappower.com/ and just have the usb inside the housing then you don't need to worry with the plugs and it would be SUPER clean. Nice!

I like that mount a lot, but I have an 8" fire tablet 7th gen , when are you going to make one for that ?, do you have any plans of doing that ?

No Problem! Unfortunately, this does not fit the Fire HD 8, I might make one for the Fire HD 10.

This thing needs a motion sensor so the tablet can turn on when someone is around and off when theres no motion
Make a camera cover tab for bathroom mounting or you may get some inadvertent voyerism.
