Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. The game is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S on February 2, 2024.
Kill the Justice League is the fifth main installment in the Batman: Arkham series, taking place five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, and the first not to feature Batman as the main protagonist, though the character still appears, posthumously voiced by Kevin Conroy in his final performance as Batman. Based on the DC Comics supervillain/anti-hero team the Suicide Squad, the game revolves around the titular team of super-criminals, who are assembled by Amanda Waller and sent to Metropolis to stop the alien invader Brainiac and save the members of the Justice League brainwashed by him.

They didn't strip out lootboxes because they were soo egregious, they stripped them out at the end of the game's life-cycle when the well ran dry and gave the phoney explanation that only now they realised it was egregious.

@@ChaseBuck There was the unseal backlash and complaints like from Jim Sterling but it's as @sanidhyadevgupta6452, it was removed after the fact, still I'm sure the backlash at least dented the sales to a extent.
They removed the lootboxes 2 years after launch
I didn't play that game because of the Intrusion of lootboxes/GaaS elements. I got it a couple years later on a steep discount (might have even been for PS+) because I heard they were removed, but it's been tough to get myself to play it because of what they did.
Insta-banning for asking about the battlepass is a HUGE red flag. I could understand the streamer or a mod being like "The battlepass is not the focus of this stream" but such a strong fisted reaction to just ASKING will only make people assume the worst. Makes me wonder how much of the sponsership money was for actually playing the game and how much was "do not discuss or show X, Y or Z for any reason"

It definitely has the same enemy issue as Avengers did. One enemy type. So you're effectively going to be fighting Brainiac's purple dudes until the game dies instead of ending that story beat and introducing new enemy factions which is crazy.
I liked the combat in avengers quite a bit. I wish the game up around that combat had been more engaging though.

One thing I like about Destiny is that there are multiple enemy types, each with different stories and different sects within. They can have different visuals, and you kinda have to play differently (at least slightly) against the various enemies. They've also add enemies and stuff...

People say to not judge a book by it's cover but everytime that someone judge a bad game/series/movie by a trailer it always end it up being that bad.
I see too many people defending this, saying to try before judging. Why would you purchase something impulsively with the chance of not touching it again if it is horrible? Some people are so attached to a game that they cannot just wait and spend their money responsibly. Even for a game u am supremely excited for, I wait, I never preorder, and I purchase if people are happy with it generally.
I mean to be fair, we aren't just seeing trailers. We are seeing the content for ourselves and judging it.

@@carlosmartinez3020 I saw the gameplay and chose to not buy it. I made that choice before watching any videos apart from those given to the world by WB/Rocksteady. Aside from that, $70 is not easy money, so people may wish to spend it on something that is a safe bet.

Movement kinda reminds me of Prototype or Infamous in a way.
It plays like Sunset Overdrive, so might as well get that instead of this game, at least that game can be played offline. Not sure you can still play Suicide Squad when WB eventually pulls the plug on the servers.

Lupo, Tarik, and Shroud are consummate professionals who are going to deliver excellent commentary and gameplay and sell the product well no matter what, but if you're trying to create real enthusiasm for something like this, bringing in sizable creators who already have invested interest in the game, the former Marvel's Avengers guys for example, or Arkham fans, who are going to geek out over the DC lore and looter mechanics - these are the people you want for an event like this to help create a real sense of energy and excitement around the showcase.

It's just to funny how he stops breaking down the interesting parts of the stream and talks marketing when he could talk about how gear works with villain synergies, how the game has a clan system, how you can add and share characters to your squad and earn gear resources when offline, how there's PvEvP system with endgame, how there's no loading screens when going into elseworlds, how there's no gear score, how you can customize your skin to a legnth which non of these other live service games let you do, how you can thoroughly costumize the UI, or how you can replay seasonal content at anytime and get its gear exclusive gear, or the 50 diffrent difficulty levels associated with seasonal content or the paragon board or the fact that there's a horde mode like COD Zombies but NO BRO IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE BATTLEPASS AND MICROTRANSACTONS, when you can earn skins through gameplay and riddler trophies BUT GO OFF SIS!!! Talk about the marketing and how you are unsure about the game for the 40th time!!! 😂😂😂

This game sounds like it could have been AWESOME if it was just a single player(maybe co-op) superhero game with a linear story. Explore big city, fight the Justice League with your chosen character, get one of various endings, actual endings to the story. Cool.
But no generic rinse and repeat live service they think we'll want to play forever when it's already such a tired dead concept.
This multiverse endgame thing just confirmed that the leaks were true. Also kinda funny how they went with the Wasteland as the endgame; as if they needed EVEN MORE Avengers comparisons lol
The leaks have been shown to be many false and made with bad intentions. It is true that the multiverse is a reality in this game but that does not mean that all the leaks are true, rather many are false.
@@giancarlo5945they really haven't been. People have just said they were false, but every reveal further indicates their truth. We still have braniac voice lines from that, even a mention of joker from him, we got the first images of joker himself which are confirmed, the entire multiverse aspect confirmed, and much more. Literally everything has been vindicated, really what this shows is that claims of the leaks being false are themselves false, lies.

He already said that they are false, and the person who leaked the story himself said that he was wrong.

I’m fairly certain that these are *other* Brainiacs, from realities where he won. If the Squad managed to kill one Brainiac, why not send them out to kill the others, especially since they could invade our reality at any time?
But the multi-verse is infinite. That means there are infinite universe where Braniac won. They'll never be able to kill all the others because there will always be another Braniac to defeat. It's a pointless and exhausting thing to try and do.

From all that I played in the closed alpha, I really want to love this game. There's all the right elements in it for me to really enjoy it, but the creative decision to make non-gun characters into gun characters really just left a sour spot where it should have been completely sweet. Unfortunately, there aren't really too many upcoming releases that have my attention for that similar mindset of sour elements spoiling the sweetness, but at least Unicorn Overlord seems like it could be nothing short of excellent, so that arriving in March will make up for it.
It's unfortunate that Shadow of War's legacy is still brought around. I loved that game more than the first game: in my opinion, it makes Shadow of Mordor all but obsolete outside of hearing Liam O'Brien's masterful Gollum impression from the start. And even the endgame was one I wholly enjoyed, on Normal mode, without ever buying into the MTX. But all anyone's going to remember from that game was the aforementioned MTX.
Maybe the endgame is one of those situations where after you beat it, you return to the mission right before the ending of the game.

On the subject of the endgame, the developer in the livestream confirmed that there are also bosses that you can fight.
A live service game requiring an overarching narrative to go on forever should make you wonder if the main campaign will be satisfying.
I remember Marvel's Avengers having a "To Be Continued" vibe. In the end of the main campaign, AIM isn't really beaten, we don't know if the Avengers have been reaccepted by the people again, the manipulator of the main villain is still at large, and there are multiple clones of that manipulator being made so we could hypothetically fight them forever. The last thing that players got as content was basically fighting the main villain one more time, and then the narrative died with a whimper.
Rocksteady fans deserve better than that. Each Batman Arkham game could generally be played on its own as an intense Batman adventure, and each one FINISHED on a strong note. I don't like the thought of the Suicide Squad going through the potential highest stakes they've ever been in, in a nigh-apocalyptic scenario, and then "PSYCH, you didn't really do JACK SHIT! The rest of what happens comes in six months!"
About "Social Squad" I think it means that you can play as your friends characters in any game mode while they are offline. I don't think you can make their loadouts bad only get more good gear for them and xan equip them. That is what I think.
It means you can make the AI have your friends load outs- and then your friend get the loot (maybe exp?) From you playing.

@@CriticalxMiss So if a friend's King Shark is good and they are offline, you can play as them and get more gear/loot/XP for them? Offer them a helping hand if you will? Example, a streamer is not online on the game, if you find that streamer you can choose any of their characters and earn gear, loot, and XP for them. When the streamer/player returns to the game, they will have all the loot that other person have earned? This is how I have understood it. Yes. It is a cool system that more live service games should use.
@@matthewmcghee8832no.. as the previous comment explained (and so does Luke), it’s simply that your AI companions can equip the gear/spec of your friends from your friend list to keep your play sessions consistent when playing solo. You can’t play as your friend’s loadouts, nor unlock stuff for them.
What if I really like green beans? What if they're selling me a green bean for full retail, but are adding stuff to make it a green bean casserole post-launch for free, but offering pretty plates, cups, and utensils for an additional charge?
In all seriousness, your video makes some very good points. Even though I'm hyped for the game because I love Rocksteady, DC, and really enjoyed the closed alpha, I was honestly bored with that sponsored stream because they were just doing the same thing over and over with very little energy.
I'm interested to see/hear if your stance on the game has changed at all with the talk of post-launch content earlier today with Joker and other characters on their way.

It's a multi-player shooter that the devs want you to play for multiple seasons.
The "story" is just window dressing for the number of seasons they mapped out for this game.
Similar to how Fortnite's events and seasons sort of add up to a "story", but not really.
Currently, in the leaks there was a Destiny-like Gambit PvPvE mode mentioned however we have yet to see anything on it. Insider 3: Elseworlds comes out tomorrow which hopefully mentions something like that. However it will also go over many of the live-service elements that are in this game so, Luke is really gonna beat the dead horse tomorrow for sure.
Your allowed to hate the game and your allowed to love it but in the end it’s your own opinion don’t rely on reviews as the reviewers have their own opinion on different games as well

Hmmm I see what you are saying and while it is mostly true you are almost asking people to ignore reviews which isn't right either. If a new game is reviewing badly and that causes you concern on your potential purchase you should DELAY until other forms of information becomes available and use that to confirm if the game is for you or not. For example the game comes out and it is a boring piece of junk that is just a money grab (what we are basically seeing here) if that is not for you and reviews are saying that is what it is you should double check and then make your call.

Watching this video made it clear to me that bro has already made his mind up about the game. Like picking a theme and building your narrative around it, he'd mention that youtubers weren't talking about the game when you search for the games name on youtube you would find you a ton of content creators talking about the stream, and the one's that spoke positively about the game he dismissed their opinions by calling them Avengers lovers with no proof, bro said there was no one watching stream when Shroud maintained a consistent 14k viewers with Tarik and Dr Lupo pulling around the same numbers, he throws shade at the game because of the way loot is dipensed, writing his own headcanon that there was supposed to be lootboxes in the game. Im sitting here scratching my head, asking how does he know that? he conviniently forgets that the game has been in development for over a long period of time and that the game evolved as industry approach to micro transactions changed, but won't bring that point because Hey guys! loot box bad!!! He dosen't talk about the loot or villain synergies or the content potential of elseworlds, he just talks about how the map in the elseworld is the same as the tutorial, completely forgeting that the tutorial is narratively a flash foward. And of course, they'll implement new areas for end-game content, so his doomerizing makes no sense.
Every single point he brings up is to build this narrative that the game is bad and the game isn't even out yet!!! When actual review time comes out, expect the outcome coming out of his mouth. "The game is bad because the game isn't my type of game and something like wait for a sale to experience the story" and this outcome is if the game turns out to be adequate, he's already primed his audience to hate this game, there is no objectivity to luke stephens reviews. Long day for the peeps at rocksteady. 💀 He says nothing of substance and might as well scream. I hate the game at the start of the video. He is just a grifter, grifiting on the hate train.
It's just to funny how he stops breaking down the interesting parts of the stream, like how gear works with synergies, how the game has a clan system, how you can add and share characters to your squad and earn gear resources when offline, how there's PvEvP system with endgame, how there's no loading screens when going into elseworlds, how there's no gear score, how you can customize your skin to a legnth which non of these other live service games let you do, how you can thoroughly costuming the UI, or how you can replay seasonal content at anytime and get its gear exclusive gear, or the 50 diffrent difficulty levels associated with seasonal content or the paragon board or the fact that there's a horde mode like COD Zombies but NO BRO IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE BATTLEPASS AND MICROTRANSACTONS, when you can earn skins through gameplay and riddler trophies BUT GO OFF SIS!!! Talk about the marketing and how you are unsure about the game for the 40th time!!! 😂😂😂
Fr dude, a lot of folks that hate on Suicide Squad are just like this. I’ve heard some “concerns” from some people with good explanations such as post launch content, but they obviously have plans for post launch content and it’s bigger than we all expected.
We also have folks like this that just layout all of the little things THEY don’t like and just hammer it and unfortunately, because of the way we work as humans, most of us are gonna follow along. They openly express that they want the game to fail. This attitude benefits nobody and it’s frustrating af. The developers put a lot of work into the game and a lot of us really want to play and get a lot out of this game.

I have never p[layed the Arkham games, and I recently got the trilogy on sale for Playstation, I think I'll just play those games instead, I've played Shadow of Mordor/War and Mad Max, so I know how the combat will feel, just was never super into Batman, but this made me want to appreciate their older titles more.
I bought the same collection on that sale.Absolute steal especially if you've never played them before like us.

I don’t understand how some people like what they see here but good for them I guess. As someone who played all the main Arkham games (origins too) it’s just disappointing. My guess is people that like what they see haven’t played the Arkham games? Idk lol. The story is the only interesting part of the game
The people that like what see simply like the kind of games. The Arkham trilogy was revolutionary in gaming. I played and loved them all but I also love looter shooters and GOOD gotta emphasize GOOD live service games because that means potentially endless content.
This game looks good for what it is and the devs seem to have big plans for post launch content.
I wanna believe that this whole live-service approach only became a thing once David Zaslv became CEO cuz I don’t buy that THIS is what Rocksteady has been working on for the past 9 years.
I actually thought that streamers playing SSKTJL was enjoying it. The level of play by the players are not a problem as that shows how we would go into the game. How hard it is to play etc. The skill cap of traversal. The streamer did ask question that some people might have had (excluding the battle pass) I only saw 3 bugs in the stream. (Boomerang stuck in place, Harley going under the ground, Ivy not being seen by anyone) It was on PC. Also, it is a live service and there is room for a day 1 patch. So for me, the sponsored stream was a success in my opinion.
Yeah it looked like they enjoyed the game. Luke makes a good point about a sponsored steamer should have energy for this sort of thing to win people over but I think that would come across as “staged”.
Also we got a look at endgame, we got answers for some questions the community might’ve still had, and we got some high skill level gameplay. I think it served its purpose.

The storyline will be interesting with how they handle it. Narrative with live service games are tough and I'm concerned just fighting Brainiac every season will become extremely tedious. This game is just one I can't put my finger on. I feel like it will have a cool story playthrough but the endgame just doesn't look compelling with the live service elements. Like are there gonna be big set pieces after the story or is it just gonna be generic live service looter shooter farming? I'll give Rocksteady a chance but I just don't see this game working as a live service long term

After cyberpunk’s release and avengers, I’m very cautious with purchases. Avengers also totally turned me off to live service games and now it’s a red flag for me

Midnight Suns biggest problem are obvious freaking lootboxes & the game trying to be some kind of party RPG but it has zero interesting story & interactive system for said party. It also practically alienating & denying their own long time core fans/ core target market (XCOM fans) to have fun, exactly what Rocksteady doing right now with Arkham fans. It was even worse with Marvel fans mostly are quick action bombastic players, not a tactical strategy players. Basically their target audiences are all over the place & from technical business POVs. It's a recipe for disaster. This not even including with problematic DENUVO DRM & some other technical problems on release.

Okay, one thing I gotta point out is the enemies you fought in the alpha are not the same ones they fought here. Maybe in basic enemy design sure, but a lot of these enemies in the stream are infused with the Justice League and take on specific moves/characteristics of their respective leaguer.
And there will be a boss mode. There are a few more modes that they didn’t reveal in this stream and they mention it multiple times in the full stream. There’s an insider episode tomorrow that will go into more depth about the endgame.

This is a Warner Brothers property so it would not be too surprising to see them make extensive use of cross-overs from other WB IPs in upcoming seasons/DLC. Perhaps there will be an Iron Giant themed boss at some point or Wildstorm or Charlton Comics characters as bosses or playable characters.

While there's a lot to be justifiably sceptical about when it comes to this game, I actually find the revelation that Brainiac is not only still around, but apparently *guiding* the Squad after the story more intriguing. That he's been introduced as the instigator of the conflict in the main game would make his defeat in the main plot kinda obvious, so that not happening makes me interested to know how the plot ultimately plays out.
Not interested enough that I'll invest in this dross (certainly not from the off), but it's far from an eye-rolling, "Well what's the point?" revelation.
I'd go so far as to say it's the first thing they've revealed in this entire mess that has in any way piqued my interest.

i think the best way to look at it, isnt really a live service game, just play the main story with friends, then come back months later(since there is no fomo on seasons) and do the free dlc story content
