Making My Friend Guessing Fate Servants 5

- It's been a year since we've seen our friend trying to guess the identities of Fate servants, and in that time, Lostbelt 6, 6.5, and many events have come and gone. Let's see how he does this time!
Another fun thing about Red Hare: he is the only Fate female-to-male genderbend to date.
In defense of the Scheherezade design...it's actually pretty accurate to her lore. People seem to forget she was quite literally one of the king's harlots. So for that reason I can't really call it orientalism.
She was literally there to satiate an ass of a king.
@@Taygon45 Exactly. And she'd do ANYTHING to keep herself alive...including using her body
She is literally the one servant you can't complain about over-sexualization with.
@@casteanpreswyn7528her and Mata Hari
@@spencergreen9415 true.
12:49 correction here Jacques story isn't that he/she wasn't loyal to the church but that because he was accused of satanic activities became this because of innocent monster probably also tha foreign god contracted with him changed him from a ge to she
both male and female jaques are the same person basically
A thing to remember is that the character designs are affected by their legends and how people think of them in their mind. So a historical person can be twisted and warped into a caricature version of themselves. Be it turning into a monster, looking sexier, or anything else. The game even acknowledged when certain characters aren't supposed to look like how they currently are. And the Servants don't necessarily have a definitive look, as depend on each summon, they may possess different traits, circumstances, or having some other characters or aspects mixed in, different points in their life, different weapon/class, or alternate what-if timelines. Hell, sometimes the characters themselves just brute force it and change their look because they want to (like Da Vinci sex change from a man into the Mona Lisa), and that's good for them.
Like, a lot of the servants we summon aren’t even at their strongest point, Lu Bu is much stronger as a rider, Hercules as an Archer, and albeit they’re their most powerful class but summoned incorrectly but there’s also Romulus but we do summon him at full strength with Romulus-Quinius because Romulus can only exhibit his full strength as a grand lancer.
Regarding Galatea, despite the image kinda evoking the idea of her being half-carved, those giant pants are actually a pair of her husband Pygmalion's pants - big poofy pants to keep the dust off when sculpting. The "wheel hand" is an illusion - it's just the sleeve obscuring most of one of the sculpting tools she's holding.
Incidentally, in Fate, Pygmalion taught Galatea how to be a sculptor after they got married, hence the tools.
As for Nemo, he's merged with the god Triton. His ability to subdivide his personality to make a crew is actually the result of having been originally summoned by an alchemist who constantly makes use of Memory Partitioning to literally multitask her thought processes. There's also an older Nemo design in use in FGO Arcade, by the way.
For Oberon... IIRC it isn't so much that Nasu rewrote Lostbelt 6 to add Oberon, but to give him more emphasis. Similarly, Morgan's role was changed and expanded a lot because her art design ended up far less malicious than the original concept expected, so instead of rejecting the art, the plot was adjusted to give Morgan more depth.
Yeah, if you aren't a big anime fan the Romulus=Quirinius armour wouldn't look as great. But the fact that it's a Saint Seya reference is what a lot of people love about it.
To defend Jacques de Molay. The Lovecraftian diety that possessed her in this form was the Mother goddess Shub-Niggurath, mother of monsters. So in a sense, she could only possess the female version. The female one that created an era of sexual debauchery in the Knights Templar. And the male version upheld poverty (donating everything they own to the church) chastity and obedience. A Lovecraftian outer god isn't going to want to possess that. Especially an outer god of sexual hedonism.
Quick fun fact about Red Hare.
It's the super rare Female to Male genderbend.
Red Hare in Three Kingdoms was specifically a female horse.
1:09:31 it’s based on a phrase of “Among men, Lu Bu. Among horses, Red Hare.” Because of this Red Hare is under the delusion that he himself is also Lu Bu because they are never apart so he must also be Lu Bu as well.
The Lovecraftian entity known as the Black goat of the wood mother of 1000 young (SHUB ) took over his Saint graph due to the fact he made Baphomet it was how they worked her into it. Honestly I love the design in the sense it stays true to the Lovecraftian deity and uses someone with a historical footnote to do it.
"If fate was allowed to" oh my sweet summer child, fate started as it
I love that don quixote level up have him being less powerfull instead of more powerfull since is true power is actually is imagination. And his final noble phantasm is basically cutting out all nonsense and going back to reality
I absolutely adore the "horns" of Mary Anning.
Thing about tham is that they are ammonite fossils and ammonite got called "ammonite" after the Egyptian god Amon who had head/horns of the ram, because those fossils were ressembling ram's horns. Using those fossils as fake horns is quite nice of a reference to the etymology of the word and a way to show the connection to the field of paleontology in not "in your face" way. Also, in the 3rd ascension when Jurassic sea is coming to life in the background (which is a refence to irl art from the period depicting Jurassic sea ) the "horns" ammonite fossils are coming to life too.
I do want more of these.
Marry Anning not only has ammonites as hair ornaments that come to life in the 3rd ascension, her second ascension (including the outfit and arrangement of the picture [cliffs of Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast and all] is taken directly from her most famous portrait (painted posthumously) whereas her 3rd ascension has her in the outfit of the only sketch made of her during her life lifetime and the background - including the old fashioned reconstruction of the pterosaurs and aquatic reptiles and their arrangement - is based of the first paleoart painting depicting a prehistoric landscape and it's life called "Duria Antiquior" (A more ancient Dorset) based on her finding which was sold in print copies for her financial benefit [one of the few situations where she actually got acknowledgement from some people in the scientific establishment of her time]. The bread-loaf shape of her dog , Tray, is a nod to the original art style of the manga she was introduced in (FGO Learning with Manga). Riyo did really great work with the servant art I think.
Do more this stuff, your friend Is hilarious 😂
Return of the King
The Jacques rant hahahahahaa
Nemo was merged with Triton
Welp, the Don Quixote post hahaha
"Hey Galatea wanna put on another layer? Yeah I got another piece of floss"
Fate ascensions perfectly summerized.
one thing that you mised on Galatea's first image is that the weapon looks like a carving piece, also others mentioned that the baggy pants are part of a sculptor's attire
kinda weird how you guys bitch about the sexualization of the female characters while completely ignoring all the perfectly build guys even when they're half naked. always gotta love hypocrisy like that.
lmao
34:54 actually Arthur predates artoria if my understanding is right since he was from the Fate Prototype work which was developed before Stay Night but never published.
Also, not so fun fact, Rama looks the way he does for the same reason we will never get Sita...the curse made him so sad he'd never see her again he took on her appearance.
Chiron's design gives it away causs even in human form he has a tail.
40:52 if memory serves their are 17 Nemo’s. The main body captain Nemo, a baker, an engineer, a scientist, a doctor, and 12 crewmen who are all identical that make up the general workforce.
Try guess FGO servants with their NP as a change.
31:33 I think you are thinking of shiva not Rama. Even if he was one of shiva’s avatars (I think off the top of my head) Rama was still human.
11:43 it because of elder god is a female so it changes his gender into it liking so that’s the reason there
Also how come you guys are always quick to point out sexualization of the female characters, but never mention it for the male characters?
Several reasons:
1. Often, it's not as egregious as the female servants. Typically, male servants at most are shirtless with some muscle. If they had, for say, a bulge, we would almost certainly be calling it out too. Heck, we did talk about how wild Spartacus' clothes are, explicitly pointing it out as "Metal BDSM gear".
2. Oftentimes, it fits with the character's portrayal in other media. Leonidas from a previous Servant Guess is a prime example, as he is basically lifted from the movie, 300, and his design is just fitting with the standard of what people imagine "Leonidas" to look like.
3. Sometimes we do. We both ribbed Super Orion's design in a previous video for being absolutely wild and out there.
@@pierredrouillon Okay fair enough, but my issue with not finding any issue with showing off their muscles and being shirtless is this: For me that is absolutely their way of sexualizing male characters. If you want to say a woman having a large bust is sexualization, when there's nothing inherently sexual about breasts, then you can't say a design with a shirtless dude with unreal amount of muscles isn't sexualization as well. FGO sexualizes both men and women a lot, but when people only take issue with it for the females it pisses me off... So sorry for basically accusing you guys of being one of those types of people.
I always lik the fact that your friend is able to guess the characters through image and I like the fact that he analyses them as well
40:40
"A hundred of these little things running around"
Hot.
22:40 was I the only one who thought he could have been Sir Kay especially during the FGO opening that shows him fighting with the protagonist against Kirei and muramasa?
"She gives off like very butch lesbian"
Ya know a lot of fate characters do give off those vibes. Probably a consequence of all the genderbending. Maybe one day we'll get something out of that. Fingers crossed for Mordred.
Honestly I could see mordred in a polyamorous relationship with Fran and Jekyll just to one up her father whose own relationship issues led to the fall of Britain.
Absolutely love this type of stuff as a small whale of FGO
45:27 well said, i would have said the same XD
29:30 when Fate gets historical characters correct
27:43 to be more specific his human form is suppose to be him after he shedded his divinity so he could properly die.
But strategically the human form is to help chiron conceal his identity so he wouldn’t be identified the moment he set foot anywhere.
love these vids
Ah here we go again
