Thank you to share those 1986 videos. I bought the Bit of Fry & Laurie DVD box set after I saw the sketches here (didn't know about Hugh career before) and it's a pleasure to see sketches they did before.
That glare on hugh laurie's face after stephen fry pulls out the flowers lol - it's as if he pulled that one out spontaneously on him. If so, Hugh's recovery is impressive!
You could only see his head from the side and behind. How the hell can you possibly know that he's glaring; you can't even see his face? Also, there is no way any of this is ad libbed.
That's interesting. He called himself Peter Mostyn. Hugh played a character called Mostyn for the Alliance and Leicester ads. Nerdy of me to remember that.
That's more like he was traumatised by it and developed a complex which eventually led to him accepting the role of the mad-doctor in a desperate attempt to regain control over his trauma 😂😂😂
Ha...House goes under the knife...but Hugh will always be Bertie Wooster to me, despite the fact that he always has been a very good actor, and I hope he actually gets more roles than just mad maverick doctors as his career goes on.
@@thegroovetube3247 I understand this. But this video that allows people to leave comments was uploaded 12 years ago. If we could leave text attached to television shows when they released then I would state that age. But alas, we couldn't.
He was both. 'Ran' Laurie won Olympic gold in the coxless pairs rowing in 1948. He also won the university boat race 3 times on the Cambridge team. He later qualified as a medical doctor and practised as a G.P. for 30 years. Hugh is his youngest son.
"kidneys are nature`s own dialisis machines"
just fantastic!!!
Doesn’t he say that on House somewhere?
I found the close-up on Hugh's face to be very pleasant. Very pleasant indeed.
“Surgery is very much the art of the unexpected.” Lol I love how hilariously NOT true that statement is.

House M.D. the other way around
omg, that bit of "blood" on Hugh's lip was driving me crazy!
In what way exactly?
Remind me never to eat supper in front of UA-cam again.
Never eat supper in front of UA-cam again.
Never eat supper in front of UA-cam again.
Never eat supper in front of UA-cam again.
Never eat supper in front of UA-cam again.

Am I the only one who was wincing throughout the whole sketch? I almost felt knots at the pit of my stomach!!
unijade I wouldn't usually mind but I am eating my breakfast now🙄
One word, AWESOME!!!!
So wonderfully silly.
This made me extremely uncomfortable yet I laughed

yeah I do realise that glare was quite unusual as if he was in real surprise

If anything he looks nonplussed. Like an actor waiting for the audience laughter to die down so he can deliver his line.

Holy shite...Hugh must look back on this and laugh.
Surgery: the art of the unexpected.
and then he liked it and became Dr. House.

Well, it did NOT rain on Tuesday and Gregory House most certainly did NOT die, in matter of fact he became a doctor and saved many lives.

Today is Tuesday, and it is indeed raining

@@EllaBananas what a couple rainy tuesdays we’ve been livin eh?
12 year old video and no one has mentioned Surgeon Simulator. This is how every game of Surgeon Simulator is.
12 year old video?? This series ran from 1989 - 95.

those orgnans look converningly real
When you see that stuff in movies or TV, they're usually made from rubber, wrapped with something reflective and sprayed with water.
If they were going really low budget they could have gone to a butcher. I doubt that they did, but sometimes the real thing is easier to work with
That is one large stomach xD
Took some guts not to flinch with that blood on his lip.
ba dum tss
Just like the House episode with the girl who can't feel pain and has a tape worth
Need a related video to click on QUICK! Not that it's not hilarious, but... :P
I could see House and Wilson doing this to a group of medical students...but they'll never do it as well as Hugh and Stephen.
@unijade I think he was both
Then I guess over-achievement runs in the family! Admirable...intimidating! =|
I'd rather not die
Are the bits he's pulling out from a cow?
His dad wasn't a doctor. He was an athlete, wasn't he? An Olympics medalist? Guess perfection ran in the family ;)

what did i just see?
wow they would never show that sketch on tv nowadays
The real reason he walks with a cane.
Uugh. I have to confess that I'm beginning to feel a bit queesy here. These guys are really into it, aren't they. OMG. I just can't...
That stomach must be from an ox or a an elk--it's about 20 times bigger than a human stomach!
i find it pretty funny how Hugh Laurie did a lot of medical schetches before he became House... it's like he was waiting for this his entire life...
i wonder if this pushed Hugh to work as DR HOUSE.
in my opinion the liver was to small to be from a cow. i know how large pig's livers are and think cow's livers must be at least as large...
"Military intelligence" - THAT is an oxymoron.
no its not, lol, he js did them coz they wer funny
