Oh come on. He was warning us all of common household dangers that occur in the home. You can't expect him to bother himself with so trifling and insignificant a matter.
@Evi1M4chine Well, I can't help thinking that British people need more personal space than the Americans do. So I think it's indeed the friendship thing here.
Sometimes I'll see a particularly funny sketch from "A Bit of Fry & Laurie" and wonder what certain comedians, like Harry Enfield, were driving at in making disparaging remarks about the comedy successes of Oxbridge types. He is proof that there is and was plenty of room at the table for funny people. And to be honest, when I was F&L its lack of reliance on topical comedy, stock characters and catch phrases means that 30 years on, it stands up much better than a lot of what Harry has done in the last decade.
@@samkessel5411 Yes, but you support the poster's point by referring to a sketch that depends on the audience having seen Margaret Thatcher - topical comedy that inevitably dates.

I must not have an American POV. I can imagine Americans doing that, but I can't see how that would be funny, especially in this context. (I am, by the way, not American. Nor am I English)
