Those repairs are nice, quick and simple.
Your right, we get so used to yanking on the rope that the spring bottoms out and snaps! These easy starts are a life saver for people like me that have knackered their shoulder, just a gentle pull is all that's needed!

I've now had a think, and the difference between those springs is because the engines run in opposite directions.

Wasn’t the kinda spring I was expecting to see, no chance of doing a quick fix on that in the field. Never worked on a easy start, now I can. Ta muchly Sir Mick

I would say anything is possible but remember if you block or restrict the flow the strimmer will not work properly..
I got one of those easy starts on my Echo SRM-210 weedeater I don't like it
I hate the ergo/easy start mechanism I'm forever being pestered by people with with the easy start on the stihl hand held leaf blowers
