I agree with what you say to some extent but the U.K. has not completely destroyed its naval shipbuilding capability but has significantly reduced its capability due to lack of investment and making skilled shipbuilders in the past redundant because its cheaper to build elsewhere. BAE Systems and Babcock still build great naval ships in the U.K. like, the type 26/31 and don’t forget the two large aircraft carriers and Britains nuclear submarines. Highly questionable. Besides Damen shipyards hardly anything exists anymore. And even Damen does a lot of the building in Rumania. Building the new submarines in France is yet another blow to the Dutch shipbuilding capacity.
I'd like to know more about this "High Energy Laser" on the ASW Frigates. Did not know one existed that is in production. The US has a couple I think but not sure if they perform well.
It needs more than looks alone… Besides that France has enough capabilities to build amphibious ships. It is interesting to see if France chooses for smaller amphibious ships, like the UK and The Netherlands. My point of view is that diversity would be the best, with only small amphibious ships one loses capability. Big powers seem to stick to bigger amphibious ships and even smaller countries who never used to have them buy them (Egypt, Turkey).
@@marcsetmais7598 Yes of course looks isn't everything, it is just a fantasy haha. I don't think there's a need for that in the French navy, the 3 LHD handle the amphibious needs. It is a disgrace that the Dutch Navy doesn't have at least 2 (preferably 4) Hospital ships that can be deployed anywhere in the World when there are disasters or wars.
Bruh we barely have 4 seperately functioning hospitals in our country, there’s been so many budget cuts to both the healthcare sector and our defence budget that what you’re asking isn’t feasible or realistic at all at this time maybe after this fleet replacement ( but probably not we are much too small a country)
Well, I’ve got news for you: the Dutch navy already has three ships with a very serious hospital function on board: the Karel Doorman, Rotterdam and Johan de Wit. They can be deployed to give aid anywhere in the world. No navy has ships anymore that are only hospital ships, that’s not serious in this modern times. The hospital capacity is more than enough for a navy the size of the Dutch navy. There are other priorities.
We have nice boat, but i would not call it a fleet. The clowns dont even have an amphibious warship. Just a few crazy good frigates and leaky submarines.
The French submarines was chosen for a single reason: our corrupt prime minister (our worst prime minister ever, which is why the Dutch dislike him, life only got worse because of him) pressured for the French subs to get support from Macron for him to become NATO secretary general. He wants to get this post but in fact destroyed the Dutch military with huge cuts and never did abide to the NATO 2% norm. He never served in the military. It would be a shame if he gets this post. The LPD's are not that old at all and are still capable enough to be replaced. They can transport LCU's and smaller landingcraft. You can move them further out to conduct landing operations. They are also capable to transport army equipment like Leopard 2 A6, CV9035 and Pzh2000 and bring them to shore with LCU's. This gives the marines support with real firepower.

Highly questionable. Besides Damen shipyards hardly anything exists anymore. And even Damen does a lot of the building in Rumania.
Building the new submarines in France is yet another blow to the Dutch shipbuilding capacity.

As a French I would love to see Damen LSTs to improve our Amphibious capabilities in our navy, they look so fiiiiine !
