Bear in mind that some hotels might also have captive portal logins, which might make it a bit more of a hassle to connect a device like this.
Yeah that's what I was hoping to learn. How do you use this method with a captive portal?
@@One.Zero.One101yes, you can connect these to captive portals. It just takes an extra step when setting up the device
What if the hotel requires a 2 step login?
Very useful. Going to use this for a cruise to use the one person WiFi on multiple devices as it is expensive.
What about the captive portal in the hotel?
What if the motel room is no where near the wifi box..how am I suppose to connect it..
Is there a way to be hardwired in a hotel room if there’s no Ethernet plug in?
I want to know what hack I can use to fix the bad hotel wifi but, I clicked this vid using a hotels wifi and it won't load.
Ah right ok thank you so much for the advice . Much appreciated .
The one you are advertising is 27.99 in uk and the WR902AC is 34.99 so only a few quid difference .
might be worth looking at. Just compare them to make sure you are getting more and not less (sometimes that happens with a new version where they take away something they didn't think was important)
Question: what about when the hotel’s log on page requires your last name and room number? Where do I enter this information?
Hi Liron, thank you for this video - and I've been really enjoying your UA-cam podcasts, too! Well done. :-)
About the TP-Link: I need to increase the signal and speed of free public Wi-Fi signals because I travel and work in a camper van. Would the TP-Link AC750 Wireless Wi-Fi Travel Router (TL-WR902AC) help with that, do you think? It's the newer version of the one in your video (you have the TP-Link N300 Portable Nano Travel Router).
is there anyway to just plug something into a wall outlet to improve the wifi on a cell phone or must i travel with a laptop to do this ?
And what if the hotel doesn’t have hardline connect in the room …?
My old tplink router doesn't seem to have access point mode. I tried playing around with WDS bridging but can't seem to get it to work.
Heads up your audio is stronger on one side over the other. On all my devices. XD
What if the hotel has a crazy low download and upload speed and you need to boost those numbers so you can at least game a little bit in your hotel room. My hotel doesn't have an Ethernet port in wall but does have spotty wifi. What can I do?
I’m currently having issues bc I game on pc and I also travel for work. I’ve been looking at the 5g home Wi-Fi devices. Have you had any luck?
Could you help me understand if this router has the capability to connect to an Open Wifi Connection that has a login via the captive portal.
If not, would you know a router that supports it. I am looking at a method to share an open wifi with multiple devices. I have the captive portal login for this network which is limited to one device if directly connected.
It should but I didnt test that. This one is also a great option as you can use your phone to give it connectivity too: ua-cam.com/video/kuoi8qffWps/v-deo.html (and I THINK this one would allow you to login - but again, no travel at the moment so I couldnt test that)
What if your hotel room does not have an Ethernet cord? Not many rooms I stay in have a router in the room.
Excellent, but what if there is no ethernet port in the hotel room?
@@LironSegev Thx for the reply....but if I can't plug the router into ethernet. How do I turn it into a hotspot?
my hotel does not have a hard link wired
ethernet port
Can i use this device in a hotel that has a login portal that require you to fill in a form (like your names and address etc) before giving you the internet access?
I have the same question, did you found if the tp link works in this case? Thanks
My question is if this will also isolate your devices from people not within your private network (ie. can the firewall on the wireless ap/router also give you an extra layer of protection against outsiders or even other users on the hotel wifi? This TP Link router I think is what I've been looking for, mainly for security reasons as I've connected to a few hotel wi-fi's where they had client isolation turned off and in some case, you could see other clients on the network..
There is another model tp link TL WR902AC that looks good too . Have you ever used this one ? I'm wondering if this is a newer model from this one you are advertising ?
I havent, but if its a newer version, it worth comparing the specs to see. Also whats the cost difference?
I've tried similar products when on the move before! I think the specs will have massively improved since I last tried though.
Probs a bit of a noob question but anyway: so when you plug the tp link nano router using the network cable in the hotel room, are you siphoning (legally) hotel wifi in conjunction with tp link wifi? Or are you kind of extending the hotel wifi range? I'm intrigued about how it all works.
Anyway, deffo gonna have to invest on one of these for travelling about.
P.s. grand vid again, you're smashing it with wifi topics! 😁
great question and not a noob one at all 😂 - when you plug in the cable, you are creating your own hot spot in your room so that you no longer need to use the hotel's WiFi but are using your own. This is so effective and all your devices can connect without having to stand in that one corner that gets WiFi 😜
@@LironSegev what if the hotels ipad and download are crazy low and spotty will this strengthen and solidify the connection? If so what mode should it be in.
Great video, what about hotels that require the username and password? Or is it just the password?
I believe you can get to a splash screen and log on with that too. I just don't have it with me right now to test it.
Just use your phone as a hotspot, does the same, is free and should be fast enough.
I have been unsuccessful getting a Reolink E1 Pro to connect to wifi in a nursing home facility using their guest password. Could this "mini router" or something like it be a possible solution in my mother's apartment? Thx
is there a way to connect this device with a phone that is used as a hotspot (for more devices) BY CABLE ?
I'm asking because the phone i use for hotspot frequently disconnects from devices that are connected to it through wifi/wirelessly, BUT not from the devices that are connected to it through USB tethering... so i think, if there is a way to bypass using hotspot phone as a wireless router, but only as a USB tethering point/mobile data, and to use this TP link device as a wireless router, that could be a solution.
Or maybe you have any other suggestion?
What if the hotel room has not got a wired Ethernet port in the room ? Can I still use this ?
Yip! I use it to amplify the signal in room and some hotel limit it to 2 devices so this gets around that too.
Hi! Im trying to use my TP-link, I have a WR102N. Im trying to connect my devices to my router. I have a internet card, to connect one device, I want the router to use this internet connection to share the connection. Im paying for one device but wanna use the tplink to connect one or two devices with the same internet card. Can you please help figure out how I can do it?
what if hotel room has no hard wire connection available ?
no problem - you can use the device as a repeater! Also check this one out as an option: ua-cam.com/video/kuoi8qffWps/v-deo.html
Liron, is there a way to connect these to enterprise WiFi networks, or networks that require a username and password?
Can connect my phone via usb hotspot and then use a Ethernet cable to my console?
On Amazon I see CAT 6, 7, and 8 ethernet cables. Does it matter which one you use? Will the hotel necessarily provide the cable or should you carry your own?
if you don't going to reach more than 1000MB then just buy a cat 5e cable
I dont think that the hotel will provide you an internet cable
Hate the posers that intercept your connection and try to load malware. Need to stop open wifi.
what if your hotel has no Ether connection only a bad slow Wifi, can it boost the Wifi signal
@@LironSegev
I sent you a reply about this issue in a different video. I clicked on the link and it says page now found?
So it just the same as using your iPhone as a hotspot for all your devices
Typically you will get much faster bandwidth from the hotel Lan cable. But yes you can always use your phone. Don't forget when you travel internationally, data is slow and expensive so this will work for that too.
Great questions! And thanks for the message and watching!
Liron Segev thank you for the reply and yes I’ve Hurd it’s extremely expensive internet service in different country’s if I ever do leave the UK 🇬🇧 I will look out for something like this for sure or in the UK as it expensive in place here to like Butlins a UK holiday place it’s £15 pounds per person for 4 days use so something like this might be good 🌺👍🌺
So it only works if you bring a laptop with you to the hotel as you need to access the router management page in order to set up the internet while inside the hotel room. Is that correct?
My Stuff Keep Saying Connected Without Internet Everytime Even After Following This Correctly
This was hard to watch with the internet connection
What if your hotel WiFi had no password
Is it possible to somehow use these routers to connect to hotel wifi that donot have passwords are require loging in or connecting through a webpage?Probably same as what others termed as captive portal and two step logins. Anyone hknows the way around to this? Thanks
Hey, my internet is really bad when I’m on my PS4 playing fortnite, im on a base 30-20 ping but it keeps constantly bumping up to 100-1000 a lot of the time, I watched your PS4 dns video, and it didn’t really help much, do you have any other pointers that could help out?
what DNS are you using? what is your ISP? how much speed are you paying for? Wired or Wireless? lots of factors go into this
I am using 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.1.1 my internet service provider is TPG and I’m using wireless because my lan cable won’t connect for some reason
THis happens to me too but im stayin in a hotel rn and it happens everytime i play fortnite i need to know hlw to fix this
Somehow it made my connection even worse
Question does the hotel have to have an ethernet port for this to work or can it work entirely wireless
can work with wireless too - I use it to make my own hotspot inside the room connected to the hotel's wifi
@@LironSegev actually I got the new model it increased speed a little bit but how do I increase speed from 4.7 to say like 25 mbps?
👍👍
What if hotel doesn’t have hard wired to plug TP up with?
you just use the WiFi and create your own hot spot. This logs onto the hotel's wifi and you are good to go.
I travel a lot, and I can't remember the last time I seen a hotel still using a wired LAN.
Some of the high-end hotels do still use wired, but I never connect to them. You don't know what you're connecting into exactly, or more importantly, if other clients on the hard-wired connection can see your device(s) or not.
Holiday inns have them in most of the rooms I've stayed in
