Great tips. This is coming from an isp troubleshooter. Only thing missing is to check your computer card. If it will only handle 500 and you are paying for a gig, you’re wasting your money unless you want to upgrade your computer .
You have given really good tips on how to troubleshoot your internet speed. The only thing I would add is to test the speed directly connected to the modem instead of through the router ports. Very helpful video 👍🏼
Hi Liron, I know it's a year later that I am watching this video ;), but I have subscribed to your channel a few months back, saving videos of interest to my 'watch later' list. Now that I am going through your list of videos to help with any PC issues, I can honestly say that you are awesome in the way you present, guiding the users step by step, educating with such great energy and enthusiasm! The videos I have gone through and tried by following your guidance has helped me immensely. Thank you!
I enjoy this channel and look forward to new videos. Here's something that I hope will help someone with slow wifi. My 2-yr old laptop was testing at a slow download speed on a 2.5 Gig system with little else using bandwidth. By accident, I discovered my power profile was the culprit. It was on max battery and minimum processor power. When I changed it to "high performance", my wifi speed consistently tests about 3 times as fast. ( By the way, I had changed my power profile to high performance, but found that it keeps switching back to max battery. That will be my next issue to resolve.)

It makes me sick, and ANGRY, when I see you can get 1 GB fiber for not much more than I have to pay for "up to 300Mbps" with a DATA LIMIT. This is all because regional monopolies are still legal and there is not competition here. 🤬 But I am happy for you and others who pay less.
I noticed that with Comcast if you’re using your own router instead of theirs they will limit how much data you can download (around 1TB per month) so they will throttle without you even knowing. Unfortunately even with the highest speed with your own router it will throttle. You unfortunately have to pay a extra $30 a month for unlimited. But since I did it I can actually stream in 4K through twitch without any issues with fr drop.
You should also really consider the source you download from. Your slow download speed could also relate to the fact that you are actually just connected to a server that cannot push out a certain bandwidth. Some sites will take longer than others for certain downloads. It may just be the site you are connected to.
When I was using AT&T for broadband, I was supposed to be getting 50 Mbs, but I usually was in to 35-40 Mbs range. I called them and was told, after some testing and resetting that, since I was getting 75% of what I was supposed to get, there was no issue. I asked them if it was OK if I just sent them 75% of the bill. They didn't like that. I soon switched to Spectrum, which was a much better option. My speed usually exceeds what they promise.

Not all gaming lag is caused by internet traffic. Input devices can also cause this, drivers can cause this, bad RAM can cause this, graphic card can cause this.. so many bottlenecks that have a probable cause outside of the internet. If you have a problem with lag and you think your internet connection should be ok, you need to go down the list of probable causes. Clean driver installs would be the first thing to do in any case. try different resolutions, running certain high taxing games on max settings on 4k with RTX on can cripple your machine if it can't handle it. causing more issues than just lag.. Reddit offers many checklists on almost every popular game for you to check out.
Solid information but I would only add one thing. There are dishonest techs that work for the ips's. And the service May encourage them to be that way. But first I'll say not all of them are dishonest. That being said, don't let them do like one tried to do to me. He kept insisting I was getting the 200 MBS that I was paying for because he could see it on the cable on his side of the router. I was only seeing 40 to 50 MBS on my side of the router. He thought I was stupid. They lost me as a customer and when the provider kept calling me to try to get me to come back I told him I wouldn't because I didn't like being lied to by their technicians.
Hoping you will do a vid to fix network (not internet) speeds. I am having big issue trying to get faster than 7mbps large file transfer from one computer to another on my local system. I upgraded to dual band (using 5ghz) router, usb 3.0 external adapters on both computers. Security settings?? Win10 one one machine, Win7 on other. Still the same!
Paying for gig down. Still not getting wifi over 300. 4 calls, 3 tech visits, equipment and wires replaced twice. Still am not getting the speed and they refuse to say it's their router when the same devices get better speed elsewhere and when they are hardwired. Fed up with my ISP.
Mr. Sergev, I have a new (relatively new) Linksys WRT 3200 ACM Gigabit wifi router - it's not being used. Am I able to configure it to be a range extender/signal booster for my wifi needs? If I am able to do so, how? Thank you, Sir.
Depends on the server you're downloading from. You have the bandwidth, but it doesn't necessarily mean you always download at max speed. A lot of game servers limit your speed so that you don't saturate their connection. Sometimes the servers too busy.
I just subsribed verizon 1GBps, now speed to router is 900s. device at 800s on LAN, but any sites and youtube are slow loading. wifi seems more stable. how to fix ?
I have a unique situation for you... I want better LAN distribution over my two WAN connections. I have an openwrt based load balancing duel WAN router. Even when multiple devices attempt to connect to a server the load balancer always only uses one of the internet connections at a time. It will switch back and forth between WAN's but always sending traffic down only one connection at a time. I would like to know if there is a mwan3 rule or policy which will route new connections to the "least" active WAN connection? My DSL connections are only... 5.5Mb/s and 6.5Mb/s 😞 Ao you can understand the frustration... Example: I am downloading a file using most/all the bandwidth of one connection and my daughter turns on the TV to watch Netflix and she constantly gets the pausing buffer circle because the load balancer is fixated on using only one of the connections at a time instead of routing her traffic down the other connection improving the experience for the both of us???

Hi, I subscribed for a 1Gbps broadband internet and I have tested on my mobile phone and Laptop for speedtest and I only get like 45Mbps speed even though I am paying for the 1Gbps price. I called the provider and told them that I am not really getting speed nearing to 500Mbps at all. Not even like 100Mbps...they send their engineer down and did some testing and say that my mobile is not a 5G phone and my Laptop is already a old model like 11 years ago old and outdated hence I couldn't get the desired speed that I want. And best part is they ask me to go buy a newer mobile phone which supports 5G and new Laptop. Is this true and thats why I couldn't get the speed I want...I just want to clarify whether is it true before I change to other Provider. Thanks
i have the 1000 mbps download package from xfinity and i only get 78mps on download. my upload time is a little bit faster than the package says. do you have any tips or know why it might be THIS low?
Several times Bell Canada promised a speed but did not deliver it. Each time they explained that i was too far away from them (I live 550 m away). In each case I was able to get a discount.
Question? I get 8 MB/s when I download according to "Task manager" However, the download reports it is coming down at 1 MB, I have tried every thing I can think of to recover the 7 MB loss. Why?
I have 50 Mbps connection and im using 1 Gbps ports but the problem is why my internet is not smooth? Why websites took long time to load and why youtube videos took long time to buffer ?
Hey I have 80 Mbps connection. But all the devices in my home gets only about 40 Mbps atmost on wifi. But a new device not in my home gets about 78-80Mbps in speed. I tried changing modem MTU, a different router to connect wifi devices. But it doesn't go beyond 40 Mbps. Its a wifi 4 modem only giving 2.4GHz. I tried n and b in wlan configuration. Nothing changed. Changed the channels from 1 to 13. Nope. What is the issue. I even asked to change the modem. But the same model with new firmware is placed. But no change. I have no option to change mtu through phone. I dont have a laptop to configure mtu through laptop wifi. Any idea? Sorry for the long message. Hope someone knows.
Wifi speed also depends on your router, like I was using a tp link c6 and had a 50mbps connection I used to get around 24 mbps when testing then I replaced it with a Google nest wifi and then when tested I was getting around 42 mbps
Correct, I have a 250M plan and use Netgear router modem combo. Often only get no more than 10M speed, I disabled its router and connect a new tp-link router, always get full speed at second test, first test always bad, like modem is sleeping and need to wake up at first try. I ordered a new Motorola modem, will see if it works after several days.

telecom So that's just normal because unless you get super lucky otherwise the thing you actually want to download is not gonna be in your local data center.
Operators here in Brazil are really BS because they don't explicit the suffix to your network speeds, just advertising all as "mega". Well, this just gets ridiculous since I can measure them considering as both Mbps and MBps and it's always under that range... EXCEPT I use my Ethernet cable. Diff solved and in at least one measure it usually reaches the supposed value (obviously Mbps, once the proportion for it is higher over MBps). As mobile devices don't tend to use as much immediate band I'm leaving it this way for now.
How do you fix data speed on mobile I'm going on 3 months now I'm paying for 100GB a month with my download speed around 1gb but I'm not even getting a quarter of the speed and I called twice and they couldn't even fix the problem
Helps to know what phone and router you have. Pretty hard to help with no details... Wifi is inherently slower than an ethernet connection. Are you near your router? If your phone is too old, it may not support fast speeds just as if your router is too old
Another thing alot of people don't understand is the difference between Mbps and MBps some people see 320 mbps abs say wow thats fast but it's like 30MBps when your paying for 500 MBps and 1200Mbps.
Great tips. This is coming from an isp troubleshooter. Only thing missing is to check your computer card. If it will only handle 500 and you are paying for a gig, you’re wasting your money unless you want to upgrade your computer .

A video about fixing gaming lag (not on wifi) would be great
YES!! Plz
@@mrnobody043 drivers arent the problem and i have a high end pc
he basically means packet loss
Solid information but I would only add one thing. There are dishonest techs that work for the ips's. And the service May encourage them to be that way. But first I'll say not all of them are dishonest.
That being said, don't let them do like one tried to do to me. He kept insisting I was getting the 200 MBS that I was paying for because he could see it on the cable on his side of the router. I was only seeing 40 to 50 MBS on my side of the router. He thought I was stupid. They lost me as a customer and when the provider kept calling me to try to get me to come back I told him I wouldn't because I didn't like being lied to by their technicians.
I hae problem with upload speed being 0.0 when it should be 5.0, i have reported problem, but two months later and n o fix on horizon
Thanks man you’re a genius
I pay for 300mbps and regularly get 340mbps. It’s up 99% of the time too.
nice
I'm grateful for my internet provider for giving me 50 Mbps on a 5 Mbps plan.
What if you live in a small apartment with 5 floors & 50 mbps from your isp?
Thank you, Sir.
put it on tall pole with reflectors
We’re do I find the link for this device please
I'm getting about 1gb u/d in speedtest, what I pay for. Why when I download games is the speed slow in the game launcher?
5.5Mb/s and 6.5Mb/s 😞
Ao you can understand the frustration...
@Stephen Coste ? Copper hits DSL modem which translates into a WAN connection for the built in router..
If your Wireless Wireless Lan Adapter Card will do 5GHz, confirm your Wireless Lan Adapter Card "Wireless Mode" is set to, "802.11ac or 802.11ax".
Open "Network Sharing Center/Wireless Network Connection/Activity Properties/Configure/Advanced/Wireless Mode". Select correct mode.
Always the greatest info. Thank you.
Im only having issues with Upload Speeds, I didn't have issues before this week. But downloads im getting upto 600Mbps. I have a powerful PC and i have it Wired and idk why it started messing up. I have tried a lot from contacting my internet provider too fixing a lot settings in my PC
I have 5G, been having trouble with my ipad in back of the house. I didn't know 5G has less range, switched to 2.4 , problem solved.
thank you
I have t mobile home 4G/5G hotspot how do I change it make my wifi speed faster ?
Thanks
What is the best free WiFi speed test app to use.
i dont even have a lan/ethernet cable, is that the problem?
i have the 1000 mbps download package from xfinity and i only get 78mps on download. my upload time is a little bit faster than the package says. do you have any tips or know why it might be THIS low?
How are you testing your speed? Wifi or ethernet?
@@JJFlores197 wifi. my ethernet cable wont reach to my room.
Several times Bell Canada promised a speed but did not deliver it. Each time they explained that i was too far away from them (I live 550 m away). In each case I was able to get a discount.
crazy
I tip my hat to you sir . EXCELLENT VIDEO.
Thanks for a great video! Your visual aids are amazingly entertaining!! By the way, I see we are semi-neighbors here in DFW. Regards!
Happy to help especially a neighbor 😜
Awesome Video!
I have gigabit from AT&T. I never get more than 200 up or down. Then, if I use a VPN, AT&T throttles me by 90%.
great knowledge, thank you!
really hep out with my bad connction thx for the tutorial
i have mobile internet and it doesnt say a fixed number between internet speed just says the maximum is between 30-100mbps
Brilliant video. Many thanks.
Very welcome
Question? I get 8 MB/s when I download according to "Task manager" However, the download reports it is coming down at 1 MB, I have tried every thing I can think of to recover the 7 MB loss. Why?
It's megabits not megabyte , 8 bits make one byte
This is very helpful. Thank you ❤
You're so welcome!
I have 50 Mbps connection and im using 1 Gbps ports but the problem is why my internet is not smooth? Why websites took long time to load and why youtube videos took long time to buffer ?
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you ♥
Wifi speed also depends on your router, like I was using a tp link c6 and had a 50mbps connection I used to get around 24 mbps when testing then I replaced it with a Google nest wifi and then when tested I was getting around 42 mbps
@@evanzhang445 oh how come so slow? should atleast give half the speed, is it fiber connections?

Im paing for 250Mbps+, but getting only 1-5Mbps and after all those steps i get 10-20Mbps, at leasti get some improvements. Thanks for some help
You should change the provider.
When I do a speed test I get a download of 4-8 mbps (terrible) but when I’m actually downloading something I only average around 1 mbps (even worse) download speed. Anybody know why?
telecom
So that's just normal because unless you get super lucky otherwise the thing you actually want to download is not gonna be in your local data center.
I thought we were gonna talk about the phone collecting and smashing them, seen the hammer, LOL 😂🙏
If your phone is too old, it may not support fast speeds just as if your router is too old
My internet speed 300 kb please it can be average?
Another thing alot of people don't understand is the difference between Mbps and MBps some people see 320 mbps abs say wow thats fast but it's like 30MBps when your paying for 500 MBps and 1200Mbps.
I should've watched this video rather than acting upon the thumbnail. Now my computer is in worse shape.
