So I'm on a bit of an extended vacation, and I decided to bring the Kompak with me over the TKS and my Code of Bell X-Pod after a *lot* of internal deliberation. I was genuinely surprised at how spacious, comfortable, and usable the Kompak has been. I love the zips, the strap is stupid overbuilt and makes it feel like I'm not carrying anything at all even when it's packed out. Not a huge fan of how it picked up dust and lint and the like, and like you said, it's not quuuuite quick access in regards to the main compartment. I definitely think that that's something they ought to consider if they decide to do a 2.0. I absolutely loved, loved, loved the front phone flap, though. Even if I had the zips locked, it was so easy and simple to get to my phone. Absolutely enamored with this bag after traveling with it for almost three weeks. I don't think it's for everyone, but I never thought I'd like another crossbody/sling bag as much as my X-Pod until now. Gonna be my travel companion for future trips, methinks!
On thé Grey side, that “pen slot” is actually for a multi tool or a flashlight. There is another pen pocket in the side wall of the black section. The little black card pocket can fit a metro card or maybe a credit card? Either way, this is by far my favorite sling though because it’s great travel sling!
Love this bag. Perfect for pretty much any sort of travel for quick-grabs. Usually I store my battery, passport, any cables I may need, my wallet, headphones, phone, keys, etc. Probably the best small bag I’ve purchased from these guys. A bit of a heads-up to the pet owners out there, though - ALL of black ember’s products attract hair and dust and everything else like a powerful magnet. Good thing, though, you can just wash with water (you’ll be doing this quite a bit). A little padding around the shoulder portion of the strap would’ve been nice, but if you don’t mind feeling like you’re wearing a seatbelt all day (jk it’s not SO bad), then you’ll be fine.
@@Nomads.Nation I wish Black Ember and Peak Design would collab and just make the perfect series of each size of bag. What Black Ember doesn’t do right, Peak Design does - and vice versa. I know there are a dozen other great manufacturers out there; but these two companies stand out to me, personally, as a consumer. Anyway, what do YOU guys think? What’s your favorite daily carry sling, pack, or bag?
Cool review! Can you imagine such a sling being a removable part of a backpack? That would be ingenious. I wonder if anybody has thought of that? ;-) ;-) My opinion on this one, I feel it's too boxy to be a sling pouch. Not my style, but I guess there will be a lot of people who love it! I'm still gonna buy the Aer Sling Pouch. It just looks more "natural", if that makes sense! Cheers, Chris
Great review! I personally don't like this design (doesn't look useful), especially compared to the Bellroy venture sling 6L (which I love). BTW, I think the "card pocket" is used for an airtag :)
@@Nomads.Nation you would lay the headphones down flat and you could turn the ear cups up toward the curve of the headband so they'd be a bit more compact. I think the mx4 were still using that folding style. I know my mx3 do.

Thanks bro. 14:20 - it looks like the black ember wallet but instead of xpac it’s like a sleeker materia. One other question, between the Air Day Sling 3, Tomtoc 4L small EDC sling, and this Kompak - which would you pick? I just ordered the Kompak and Tomtoc to review both but now I’m leaning towards aer. Why is life like this lol
I like it. I like the style. I have an Eastpak The One. Which is kinda vertical cross body. So anyone with recommendations for a vertical crossbody or just crossbody bags in general? 😁 High Coast from Fjallraven looks nice.

Ipad mini fits in back pocket, BUT ONLY if not using a case. These days ipad cases are essential / basic protection, so one would expect to have it on the device at all times. This bag does not allow that. To me this is a dealbreaker. Other comments I have is that the material, while very durable, is a dust magnet. Regarding the access to the "black side" of the bag, I'm still struggling to get accustomed to it. So far it's a humbug to get to stuff stored in there. So I ended up not using the bag as much as I would, despite it is very comfortable to wear. I'm even thinking of selling it soon :(
Funny, mine just arrived today and I also was like "why is there a credit card slot?" But, overall this for me is a great tech bag to go in my Boundary Supply Errant Pro when I travel. Battery packs, Nreal Air glasses, cables, notebook/pen storage, and PSP Go or RG353M. I'm happy with it. 2 thumbs up.
@@Nomads.Nation I know the quality of the materials of this bag are top notch but many cheap no brand Chinese bags look and design just the same as this bag

never seen any review this detail about a sling bag. Super duper informative ❤

Awesome stuff as usual Aaron ! Are you gonna do Dex as well soon ? Seems much more usable to me than forge tbh. Keep up the good work man !

Thanks for the review. This bag looks totally impractical at least as sling. Last thing I want is things falling when the zip is open while wearing.
Glad to help! But I don’t think your things will fall out - it’s very stable and well organized

I wish Sony still had the mechanism that folds the one ear cup up toward the stop strap; would be even more room!
Not sure what that is but sounds cool!

I can imagine the card slot being made for hotel keycards? Or something similar of that matter, maybe even the tesla keycard. Who knows
All good guesses and you’re probably right, although it’s still a strange pocket lol
Is that slot meant for a transit card?
Yea I guess that makes sense… some card for sure it just seemed random to me
