I am a Canadian and not a huge monarchist, But this wonderful lady carried out her duties with dedication, dignity and class. May she rest in peace. Condolences to all British subjects.
All Canadians were her subjects too. Thanks to British troops winning the War of 1812-1815.

I don’t know if it is true, but I would bet, that due to Her Majesty’s commitment to her lifetime duty, she refused to depart from this world, without first finishing her daily red box - she always put country and duty first!

To see her shaking hands with the new Prime Minister just two days before she died. Standing there, dressed for the occasion, with that purse on her arm. It is a very moving moment. 70 years of devotion to her country. She was all about duty and service.

I feel a bit overwhelmed now because England's Queen Elizabeth II made me change my mind about what a monarch is from manifestly negative to positive. I am not a citizen of the UK but I believe we'll never see a more thoughtful, erudite, and genuine human being in the position she held in my lifetime.

During the war she also went against her father and joined the women’s land army, driving lorries and ambulances. She has always been an inspiration of a woman.

Wow...... I'm not British, and I never really cared for the monarchy, but I truly did admire Queen Elizabeth. When I was stationed at the U.S. Embassy as a Marine Security Guard back in 1986, we Marines were invited for a private tour of Buckingham palace. We were surprised when she came out to meet us. She actually spent about 15 minutes speaking with us. She was of course reserved, but she was very, very nice and somewhat personable. And she also had a very good sense of humor. We Marines felt very honored indeed !!!. I truly respected her because she served her country uniform in WW 2, and endured the Blitz with her fellow English men and women. She was always a class act, and was able to rise above most of the political turmoil. This truly is sad news. My most sincere and deepest sympathy to the people of Britain....

You also got to remember the UK armed forces pledge their allegiance to the King and Country.
Meaning the armed forces protect the King first and politicians last.
Its all checks and balances the armed forces can take orders directly from the King, just in case politicians get a little out of hand.

In my Wales in the Aberfan disaster she showed her heart..love or hate the monarchy...she tried in a ever changing world it must have been so hard. She was a mother, wife, grandmother and above all Queen..we will never see another monarch who was so Great...RIP with love and respect.

The majority of Brits never met her. Didn't know her as a person. Perhaps some of us even didn't agree with the institution but she was the constant in everybody's life and for that we should be grateful.

The queen loved Balmoral in Scotland. It is comforting to know she was in a place she loved when she died. And just two days before her death she was still functioning in her official duties as the queen.

As an American and historical nut, I am deeply saddened by the death of (in my opinion) the greatest monarch ever to ascend to the throne. I have spent much of my life marveling at how she has ruled over 70 years and still can be so respected by all people! Truly an immeasurable loss for the British realm and the royal family…. Their pain and loss is shared by more people than they know.
