  • Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96 on Thursday, reaction, tributes and fond memories of Her Majesty poured in from world leaders and celebrities all around the globe.
Musician Elton John, who was knighted by the Queen in 1998, paid tribute during his show in Toronto, Ont. on Thursday evening.
“I feel very sad that she won't be there with me anymore but I'm glad she's at peace, I'm glad she's at rest. And she deserves it. She's worked bloody hard…her spirit lives on and we celebrate her life tonight with music,” he said before playing the piano.
Others, like former British prime minister Theresa May, shared personal stories as she recalled dropping cheese in front of the queen during a picnic at Balmoral Castle.
"I picked up the cheese, put it on the plate, and put it on the table. And I turned around to see that my every move had been watched very carefully by Her Majesty the queen."
"I looked at her, she looked at me, and she just smiled," May said.
"And the cheese remained on the table."

My father was born 4 months after the Queen was crowned. He is now 70 years old. Absolutely remarkable how long her reign was. We won't see another like it in the lifetimes of everyone alive today. She was witness to some of the most significant events of the last 70+ years of world history and the changes that came with it. It truly does feel like a chapter in world history has closed. Farewell, Queen Elizabeth II. A life well lived.

i'm just sorrowed how many people speak ill at her death when she didn't take anything from any of them. you pay taxes to your country and you're country is not assertive to Great Britain, so 100% of your taxes go to your country not to Britain . why the hate? • @Parabol76

Elizabeth II's death should remind us: since the 1700s, the British monarchy has been a huge, tangible power for peace in the world. This achievement should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics. England, Wales, and Scotland have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, or illegal dictatorship.
The great value of the monarchy is to provide unity and stability in a way politicians can’t. Canada & Australia were given self-government under the British crown, and they have avoided secession and civil war (so far). Both abolished slavery without civil war; both were helpful to defeating the aggressors in the two world wars. That was partly because they had the same head of state as Britain.
There will always be political violence and problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy and the stability it brings. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.

It is said that the late qieen had a dry / wicked sense of humor . The one item that i'v heard is the story that about 2-3 years ago a group of tourist were visiting her Scotish estate at Belmoral castle and they hapened to run into her along with her head of security . The amazing fact is that they didn't recognize her . She wore no makeup .. wore pants and along with a plaid shirt with a heavy coat / with head scarf . She was asked what she was doing there , to which she replied , iam here on holiday , been doing it since i was little . They then asked her if she had ever met the queen ? Without missong a beat she replied " no , but he has " ( noddng towards her head of security ) He was asked " what is she like " ? Her chief security ( who had been with her for a long time ) knowing that he could " pull her leg" describe her as a mean boss . Well the tourist then aked for photos with her and her gaurd and they left . It is reported that
the queeen said something about wanting to b a little fly on the wall when the photos were shown back at their homes .
And their famiies recognize her .

No matter WHAT happend polticaly across countries be it france , or other far afield ones ...the Queen obv wasnt allowed to get involved OR express her personal views as a constutional Monarch (even though at times i bet she realy wanted too such as the Falklands war in the 80s in which her son sereved ..even though he was kept out of harms way) BUT AS our monarch in the UK she was WELL RESPECTED ACROSS all nations NOT just comonwealth coutries or EX comonwealth ..... she was prob the 1st and last monarch of the uk and her last outlying posts across the world (Inherated from her great great grandmother queen victoria whe she had a british empire back in the day) to STILL command that respect and i very much doubt with king charles the 3rd that respect will carry on sadly in this day and age ......i think when prince Willam assends to the throne that may change a litle bit BUT we will NEVER see the likes of Queen Elizabeth the second for a long long time and the impact she had on so many people and countries ..she was beloved by everyone !

After everything HE did? It is the "tradition" in the monarchy, that Royals marry Royals - Diana was not of Royal lineage so her purpose was to be a "brood mare" ONLY. Chucky only had eyes for Camila>I mean when you compare LOOKS - Diana was a hotty. But her mentality was she would relate to the common people>something the Royals never did. Camila(who was of a royal lineage BUT she was too old to bear children. Then again as there is so much "inbreeding" was she MIGHT BE related somehow. Diana was new blood and the family knew they needed new blood otherwise the "royal blood disease"(anemia) was most likely NOT to happen with a new blood line injection. There was a need for male heirs to carry on the monarchy.
. Diana had to be erased from any "claim" to the crown. Even Diana knew this had to happen sort of...Getting in a car crash in a tunnel that had no camera's seems too convenient. She was not allowed to continuing existing even with "someone else"? Another prince in this case. That is even worse. They both died in the car crash. Super convenient. I am of the belief that the entire Royal household (meaning Elizabeth knew and her mother knew -- what HAD to go down. It is just that way of thinking(which is totally NORMAL FOR THEM).
. I base this off of watching Y T King Henry the VIII(8th) and I watched the whole 6(or 8) part series to arrive at this conclusion. Watch it yourself and draw your own conclusions.
. Royalty is a twisted mindset to normal average people. IMHO
