Short answer: ego, cockiness and misogyny Long answer: part of the reason why he was in a great spot in the early game was because he wanted the same people that everyone else wanted out, minus Brontë but obviously that mattered little in the end. But then Paulie had to choose between his boys and his showmance and he handled it in the worst way possible. The problem with Paulie is that when he did not get his way his true awfulness came out, but it took Zakiyah being on the block for people to see that, and when Paulie realized Zakiyah was being voted out he sunk his game even further.
Simple answer....he got too cocky after every eviction went his way and decided to openly act like he was calling every single shot, which caused most of his alliance members to jump ship when they clearly saw that Paulie was only in it for himself, not to mention that he apparently thought he was the only one capable of using the showmance strategy to get his way, so it came as a complete shock to him when he saw that Natalie was perfectly capable of doing the exact same thing to James in order to get him to flip on the guys and go with the Natalie/Michelle/Bridgette alliance

@@Ethanimale That's great advice. I know many UA-camrs who started out the same way. Would you be open to an analysis of the knockout comps throughout history? It's always been my least favourite competition - oftentimes conflating to having the "Coconut Chop" survivor challenge as an HOH challenge *every season* - I was thinking about it especially after being so bummed getting it on the double this season as it not only 100% confirmed Jared was going on the block but basically forced Meme to pick sides publicly or lose numbers with no contest.
Oh see I feel the total opposite. I love the knockout comp because watching the thought process play out live as a houseguest that has been playing the middle is forced to choose a side typically leads to entertaining results. But good players can still find ways around that in order to hide their loyalties (like, they can just throw the competition and not have to choose who faces off). I also don't think it's nearly as lopsided as the Coconut Chop survivor challenge because all you need to do in this one is get a few questions right and you can win the comp (think Rachel in BB12), wheras that survivor challenge is pretty much impossible to win if you're in the minority.
If you do that video though, you HAVE to include the one where every cookout member were the only people left in the competition. But, no one could say anything about it without getting CRUCIFIED!! It should’ve been what completely ousted the Cookout. I don’t think anyone would be able to talk accurately about that one online…
I think it's interesting that all of these fancy moves that backfired were made by male players. I'm sure there have been some bad fancy moves made by female players throughout 25 seasons, but they may have been less splashy, and that's why I can't think of any off the top of my head!
I know you’ve spoken about it but how was Danielle taking Dan off the block not #1. She basically lost being in second place cuz she wasn’t going to win over (Shane or Dan).
I think a fancy move that backfired was Derek X waiting another week to use his BB Bucks to play the Coin of Destiny rather than try to win safety the week he was in danger. He got backdoored that week.
The funny thing about Will making it to Final 3, though, is that it makes it almost impossible for them to actually make the final 2 together. With Erika over will at the final three, Boogie is right that both girls have to take him. But I think Janelle is smart enough to not take Will to final 2 because it's so obvious that she'll lose. In those 3 comps? No chance Will beats Janelle in those, so the only outcome that ends up with chilltown victory is if Boogie wins HOH. That's a 1/3 chance, where as Boogie on his own is GUARANTEED to win it all. I don't think Will cared that much about winning it all seeing how protective he was of Boogie during the season when Will would have probably done better without Mike anyways. Interesting thing to think about.
The bumbling duo of Daniel & Nicole - but particularly Nicole, the one-time undercover cop during Monte's HoH and the awful Festie Bestie twist. After Daniel & Kyle win PoV, it looked like Kyle was going to lose Alyssa, but supposedly after talking to Monte in the HoH room, both Daniel and Nicole, more so Nicole (via her DR confessional) that she "KNEW" Monte was lying to them and that if Daniel & Kyle took down India & Alyssa, Nicole was volunteering herself as a pawn, because they both were 100% sure that the entire house still wanted Taylor out. How they both strutted around the house between the PoV being played on Saturday afternoon & the PoV meeting on Monday afternoon. They were so proud of themselves that they had not only Monte, but the entire house figured out but had they listened to Monte and not used the PoV, they would have been safe for at least that week, but as fate would have it (and you can tell by what I'm holding in my thumbnail photo), the Queen of ALl comebacks Taylor had a trick up her sleeve and when she said "Girl, you've never looked so dumb!" I actually had tears coming down my face, that's how hard I was laughing and then to see Daniel sulk before his eventual eviction (they're all clowns!!) the next week that I celebrated even more than Nicole's.
I still think Sidney putting Neda in BBCan 5 was great TV, but was the absolute worse move she could have made. She had no other alliance other then Ika who used her to perfection and was immedietly evicted. Such an awful game move its hilarious.
Your channel is amazing because of the thought and quality behind your content. I agree that Lawon's was the craziest because it was completely his idea. I don't understand why contestants on BB don't watch all the seasons. If he knew the game he would know when players return to the game, it's usually through a battleback or player vote. If this was season 1 of the show, maybe his actions wouldn't be so crazy but this was BB13. Come on man, that's not how BB works.
I think a video concept that would be interesting is analyzing the average placements of returning players and see if their great averages are because they are great at the game, or due to luck/being in a supermajority. Or, vice versa, players who are considered greats who have poor average placements because of, say, bad luck in a second outing. Take maybe the top 5/10 best and maybe 5 worst placements and see where they fall? The top 5 is fairly understood as it’s Dan/Cody at an average of 1.5, Paul at an average of 2, and then Will/Jordan/Enzo at an average of 2.5. It’s pretty expected there, but then you have Erika, Christmas, and Memphis close by with averages of 3, 3.5, and 3.5. Nicole Franzel averages 3.66 (thanks to placing 7th on her original season). Where it gets funky is when we get further down because you have players like Chicken George having a better average than people like James Rhine and Jeff Schroeder. It’s very fascinating stuff.
Can you do a video comparing the gameplay of houseguests who share the same names? Which name is the most common? My guess without looking it up would be Natalie
If Paulie didn't force Paul to backdoor Da'Vonne the previous week (backdooring her was ridiculous anyways, due to sucking at comps), she would have been a vote to keep Zakiyah over Michelle (Zakiyah was booted in a 6-1), and Bridgette isn't around to boot Zakiyah. Zakiyah staying means it gives Paulie more numbers.
@@NYChica23James cancelled Paul and Corey’s votes. Paul knew about this since they were in on the flip. The five people voting were James, Natalie, Bridgette, Nicole, and Paulie. He ended up cancelling one vote for each so the true split was 4-3. I do agree that Da’Vonne would’ve been a vote for Zakiyah to stay, but presuming James still gets the power all he had to do was cancel Nicole or Paulie’s vote (assuming he doesn’t cancel Da’Vonne’s because they were in an alliance).
If Rachel was evicted instead of Lawton, she’d come back anyway. Brendon still gets the public’s vote, but he’ll gladly go home to give her another chance
Don't you know? Paulie didn't use the veto on Zakiyah is because he's gay. He doesn't care about Zakiyah. He just want Paul. He just came out. Update yourself.
bb18 when James threw the wall comp to Nicole was a huge mistake too. if he had won Paul or Victor would have gone home and he still would have had Michelle and Natalie working with him and they both would be a target over him with Nicole and Corey.
So in BBCan4, Nick and Phil, the HOH (they were playing as a duo as part of a twist), asked to nominate themselves as the veto winner used the veto despite promising not to use it. Luckily their ally Kelsey convinced them not to do that but they were close. They felt so betrayed that they were tempted to give up their games, which is pretty stupid but it made for some fun drama during what would have been a standard double eviction!
i will never understand why some ppl think Will is the GOAT. If you got two ppl in your corner, you don't need to tell them they're in Chilltown which is a name that should've been kept between Will and Boogie. Too cocky. Overplayed their hand leading to them playing themselves. Dan who is often compared to Will would've thought it through. Idc if Will would've won. HE DIDN'T! He wasn't even the best player in the season he won. Dan, Derrick, Cody, Andy, Taylor, Hayden, Maggie, Jun, Nicole (BB18) and debatably Adam and Drew were
Maybe not so much a bad move, considering the outcome wasn't too bad for the person, but BBCan5's Final 5, Where Kevin used the Veto on Ika and put up Dillon was nearly game ending. He wanted Demetres out and knowing that Dillon and Karen were going to vote out Ika over Demetres, him using the veto was seemingly a great move however he put up the wrong person on the block in Dillon considering that Dillon's closest ally, Karen voted him out at the end of the week, just to spite Kevin. Had Kevin just put up Karen, Demetres leaves that week since Dillon would've stayed loyal. Then Kevin has a much easier road to victory competing against Dillon, Karen and Ika.
Unfortunately that’s impossible in a vacuum since Janelle won the HOH, and Erika won the POV, forcing her to nominate one of ChillTown. This was the Fast Forward week too (aka modern double eviction), so Will didn’t have time to play long-form, which is where he thrives. Chicken George also was a nominee the last two evictions, and was HOH the eviction prior. Bringing George to 3rd was definitely their best move but I don’t know a world where that happens.
@@BigMattXXL absolutely. I think had Janelle not put up Marcellas, Erika would have been evicted. There also was an opportunity on Chicken George’s HOH, but I do think Howie was the right person to evict at that point (also, if he put up Janelle like the house wanted, that changes the outcome of the season entirely and I think it leads to a Danielle win).
At first I wished you'd included Dustin going up as a pawn in BB8, but I'm glad you didn't, as that was so heavily pushed by production (and the public vote).
I remember when he walked out of the house, he looked like he was walking out to his death not like he won $500K. He deserved to win but he also deserved all the backlash he got.
@@janejones7638I would argue Holly would have made a more deserving winner since she was more of a strategist and didn’t need to win comps to make it far, plus she had a better social game.unfortunately, the jury despite not liking Jackson’s behaviors still voted for him for his comp success 🙄 Jack and Nick I get why they voted for him, but Tommy and Cliff should have voted for Holly based on their jury questions at the end!

Some people think you have to have fancy cameras, lighting, and microphones etc. But it's the quality of the content which is important. Ethan's content honestly made me love BB again. I wish you luck lastday. If you make a channel let us know.
I don’t think anyone would be able to talk accurately about that one online…
your channel has become one of my favorites recently, been binging your old bb videos. thanks for enabling my big brother obsession 🙏
Lawon's goofy choice of requesting to be evicted had me dying of laughter.
There is no Easter Bunny, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no special power!
I hope i don’t end up on one of these lists after I win BB31
How old are you? I just ask this because BB is a game that's usually won by the youth. I wonder how old the oldest winner is.
@@janejones7638that would be Evel Dick at 44 years old. Funny enough, Daniele was also the youngest person ever to make it to final 2 at the time.
@@janejones7638 I’m 19 at the moment, I plan to start applying once i get my masters
@@janejones7638evel dick, won at 44
@@janejones7638Dick is the oldest winner. He was 45 when he won BB8.
You should do a video on best/worst examples of jury management
I think it's interesting that all of these fancy moves that backfired were made by male players. I'm sure there have been some bad fancy moves made by female players throughout 25 seasons, but they may have been less splashy, and that's why I can't think of any off the top of my head!
I think there are certainly a couple. Like Becky trying to backdoor Vanessa or Natalie in BB11 lying about her age (for really no reason).
I know you’ve spoken about it but how was Danielle taking Dan off the block not #1. She basically lost being in second place cuz she wasn’t going to win over (Shane or Dan).
Will was such a genius. He even knew when he was doomed.
How is Daniel using the veto and getting his ally Nicole nominated because he thought HoH Monty was using reverse psychology, not on here lol
I love you for always including BBCAN! (The superior BB USA show)
Oh producers deffff got in Lawans head!!!!
Special Powers!
What is the best season to watch entirely?
(Drama/Big moves/Story)
that chilltown bit is really funny lol
How about Cody trying to backdoor Paul in week 1, a huge move. Only for the move to fail leaving Cody as public enemy for the remainder of his game.
Okay that’s just stupid don’t EVER offer to be on the block, I don’t care how safe you are.
20:58 it was at that moment he knew, he fu*ked up
7:46 WAIT A DAMN MINUTE
Will said on live feeds that he came up with the move for us the feeders
Godfreys speech in bbcan was iconic! Jordan and Zach were way too over confident! 😅
It would be fun to see you stream or make funny video of you trying to win in big brother roblox game
BB21 is why I have anger management issues
Marty and the gummy bears getting Geno evicted in BBCAN has to be on there lol
Great Video!
You can make a video about players job and which job has the most sucess in the show
Homie nominating James and Sarah. It basically ended the game for that entire side of the house
I still think Sidney putting Neda in BBCan 5 was great TV, but was the absolute worse move she could have made. She had no other alliance other then Ika who used her to perfection and was immedietly evicted. Such an awful game move its hilarious.
Nothing better than waking up to a new Ethanimale video 🫡
Godfrey was the man! That Jordan blindside was awesome
Can we do a Video on trading comp punishments that felt more like excuses then punishments?
I'm sorry but BB18 that house was always filthy. All the Paulie clips gave me second hand embarrassment.
Should've mentioned Faysal targeting Scottie during his HoH and then getting evicted the next week
That's not even a fancy move. That was just a bad move lol
Hey did you know that Cam only voted for two people this season.
Lol two minutes without Will, Boogie throws a 500k competition
Can you do a video comparing the gameplay of houseguests who share the same names? Which name is the most common? My guess without looking it up would be Natalie
paulies sideburns get me SOOOOO angry
If Paulie didn't force Paul to backdoor Da'Vonne the previous week (backdooring her was ridiculous anyways, due to sucking at comps), she would have been a vote to keep Zakiyah over Michelle (Zakiyah was booted in a 6-1), and Bridgette isn't around to boot Zakiyah. Zakiyah staying means it gives Paulie more numbers.
Actually, Zakiyah got booted in a 3-2 due to James having the power to cancel two votes, one of which was either Corey's or Paulie's
I mean in bb 24 daniel tricked himself into putting up his allie and it ended up sending her home
If Rachel was evicted instead of Lawton, she’d come back anyway. Brendon still gets the public’s vote, but he’ll gladly go home to give her another chance
but wouldnt win the season
Don't you know? Paulie didn't use the veto on Zakiyah is because he's gay. He doesn't care about Zakiyah. He just want Paul. He just came out. Update yourself.
bb18 when James threw the wall comp to Nicole was a huge mistake too. if he had won Paul or Victor would have gone home and he still would have had Michelle and Natalie working with him and they both would be a target over him with Nicole and Corey.
Paulie tried so hard to be the better califore brother and failed so bad. He was just unbearable all season
I'm new to BB for this season, so I never saw it, but apparently an HOH put themself on the block, that sounds like a big backfire to me.
I know Lawon did it to himself but he still deserved better
i will never understand why some ppl think Will is the GOAT. Dan, Derrick, Cody, Andy, Taylor, Hayden, Maggie, Jun, Nicole (BB18) and debatably Adam and Drew were
Will kisses Janelle, he is a 2x winner 😂
Then Kevin has a much easier road to victory competing against Dillon, Karen and Ika.
.. TYPICAL .. JERSEY .. GIRL
Did Paul really just callout Paulie character??? Pot meet kettle
Lawan was an idiot. I don't think it took any convincing from anyone in the DR.
Jedson using veto on beth then going home bbcan9
PP ALWAYS PULLS THROUGH
Lawon & Marcellus epic
I still think Chilltown should have found a way to keep George until the Final 3
@@craigresendes2403 They could have probably evicted Erica a lot sooner
@@BigMattXXL absolutely. I think had Janelle not put up Marcellas, Erika would have been evicted. There also was an opportunity on Chicken George’s HOH, but I do think Howie was the right person to evict at that point (also, if he put up Janelle like the house wanted, that changes the outcome of the season entirely and I think it leads to a Danielle win).
Only Dan Had The Moves
At first I wished you'd included Dustin going up as a pawn in BB8, but I'm glad you didn't, as that was so heavily pushed by production (and the public vote).
god Jackson in BB21 bothered me so much. roid rage much
I remember when he walked out of the house, he looked like he was walking out to his death not like he won $500K. He deserved to win but he also deserved all the backlash he got.
@@janejones7638I would argue Holly would have made a more deserving winner since she was more of a strategist and didn’t need to win comps to make it far, plus she had a better social game.unfortunately, the jury despite not liking Jackson’s behaviors still voted for him for his comp success 🙄
Jack and Nick I get why they voted for him, but Tommy and Cliff should have voted for Holly based on their jury questions at the end!
Kailas hoh will go down as the worst hoh ever! All due to intimidation by freaking Jeff 🙄
