No, Josh won. He played to people’s faces which is a high risk high reward strategy, and he called Paul out which was great to give him favour in the jury.
josh's reaction to that guy going from crying to smiling and that girl threatening to kill families is a normal person's reaction like that's psycho behavior and i'm glad his emotional bear won LOL
The fact Cody was the deciding vote is so perfect like. Cody hated both of them? but ofcourse, he had to vote for someone. so Cody's vote was a complete mystery. however he did mention in the jury how he preferred the fact that josh was upfront and wasn't the puppet master like Paul.
I think it makes sense, Cody hated the most - cowards. Josh was a lot of thing, but if he had an issue with you he told you, I think Cody truly dislikes the playstyle of manipulation and putting targets in front of yourself as he sees it as - hiding.
I think Cody saying Josh might cry about it later but at least he had enough of a spine to directly confront him is the funniest jury vote justification I've ever heard.
@@phoenixxx2796 it was by no means a great season, as it was pretty predictable and occasionally tough to watch that horrible cast, but it’s not the worst season like many ppl like to say. Paul’s gameplay was pretty fun to watch at times, and Josh’s win is an awesome ending. Still a bottom tier season tho
@@phoenixxx2796 great how? It was the most toxic season in the entire series. Not to mention how horny the entire cast was with each other. Yes paul was a great manipulator but he was also a huge bully to anyone that he wasn't alined with. Same with his minions. I couldnt even finish watching it, it was extremely painful and cringy to watch.
You could tell Josh was a super fan by his goodbyes which is also what got him the win over Paul. He explained why he did what he did and what was going on. Paul just continuously lied. If Paul used the goodbyes to tell the truth and why or how each one was eliminated I think Paul would have definitely won
I loved Josh. I kept telling my mom and my sister he was going to win, but they're huge Paul fans, and refused to listen to me. I just kept singing, "bitter juries are a thing!" Josh straight up weaponized the goodbye messages. As soon as he caught in to Paul's gameplay, I knew he had won the season.
Everyone is confused why reality shows always want Josh back and it’s clearly because he creates dramas on the show and conversations off the show that production loves
I met Josh at Hearts of Reality and he’s always been very nice and a fun person to drink with. While his chaotic gameplay doesn’t translate well in any other season, you hit the nail on the head as to why he won over Paul. Josh’s use of the goodbye messages is arguably the second best use of them I’ve ever seen. In fact, the best use of them was by Andy, and the Jason eviction reminds me a lot of Amanda’s. Both winners eventually used the goodbye messages to win the person they’d just blindsided over. People forget how important goodbye messages are, and Paul never used them properly, instead feigning ignorance. While Paul was an excellent player, they never accounted for the jury comparing notes.
I’ve genuinely only ever heard great things from people who meet Josh outside the show, glad to hear another good recount! And to what you were saying, I never thought about the similarities to the Amanda blindside. Andy used his goodbye message perfectly and him owning up to his sneakiness 100% saved him from a potential bitter juror in Amanda, who may have been a bit more hurt had Andy lied about it in the way that Paul tried to do with Jason
I see paul's goodbye message to Jason as another trick to keep his hands clean by saying I am also blindsided. Even inside the house, with josh, he orchestrated that he was blindsided by josh and Christine so that he can have allegiance intact with Alex. What paul failed to account for is josh's smartness. He was underplaying since day 1. He knows Paul is using him to do his dirty work. He diffused paul by coming clean in every goodbye message thus every juror looked at paul as a backstabber and completely foolish person. He did use a strategy to outsmart paul and in my eyes, he definitely deserves to win BB19.
Also the fact is even though Cody hated Josh, he respected him in a way he couldn’t respect Paul. Paul was a stab you from behind type of person. While Josh was a to your face type of person and Cody respected Josh’s tactics more.
The best bit of foreshadowing is that Josh destroyed Paul in the final part of the final HOH in a competition about knowing things about people in the jury. Knowing the jury leads into knowing what they need in order to vote for you to win, and Paul clearly wasn't correct on either
I hope you know I have never watched Big Brother, but your analysis videos are so good you have me tuned in. I’ve binged so many of your videos only in 2 days.
Josh gets so much hate, so it's always refreshing to hear from someone else who is a bit of a Josh fan, like myself. I just wanted to mention one other nuance of Josh's BB19 game that doesn't get mentioned her in the video. When he was on the block with Ramses, he knew he was staying. He acted all week so down and depressed to keep Jessica comfortable enough that she didn't use the veto on Ramses. That takes some good acting, to be able to pull that off enough, until the very end, even acting shocked that he wasn't evicted.
@@sic12052 you can think whatever you want, but I watched it on the big brother live feeds. He was most definitely acting, no question about it. He would actively walk around the house looking depressed. Then he would walk into a room by himself and laugh into the cameras and say exactly what he was doing. Whenever he was in a room with one of his alliance that he knew he had the votes, he would act completely normal and happy. Then when he was around anyone else he would be moping around acting like he was leaving.
I lovee Josh, he was so funny and had such positive energy. And it was cute how dedicated he was to his family. he was so entertaining and one of my favorite HG of all time
Josh made an underrated move by targeting Jessica instead of Cody cus if Cody was pre jury and Jessica was in jury she said she would of voted for Paul so that was a good move

This season was like some kind of commentary on toxic masculinity. Just these guys getting raged up, fighting, and then crying in the DR afterwards. And Josh is crowned their King.

For someone who watched this season on the feeds and disliked Paul and Josh, I forgot how awesome it was to see everyone get misted by Paul and josh slowly cracked the code and figured out Paul’s game
There is a missing layer here. Part of emotional people, is that they're sometimes very honest. So yeah, Josh will blow up at people, while it's genuine, it is also fleeting. They get over it quickly just by releasing it. The setup from the house, where Josh frequently had to apologize for his reactions I think was something he recognized paralleled his gameplay. The goodbye messages are of course strategic, but I think if you demanded Josh to deliver a goodbye, he would never be able to do it without admitting to his faults or reasoning. Ultimately that won him the game. He recognized the full situation whereas Paul wanted to play with the truth and portray it in his own way. The fact that so many of the jury members were on the receiving end of Josh's outbursts helped show them he was the honest one.
There’s something noble about Josh. He’s a lot and kinda all over the place but extremely loyal and trustworthy. I grown to love him on The Challenge. He’s also a lot more intelligent than given credit.
I love how what I thought was a throwaway line from your last video became a video on its own. If you're looking for winner's games that might need explaining, a modern exemple of one I'm still a but puzzled by is Mickey in BB21. Keep up the great work!
Michie's game has always been so confusing because I never know how to feel. He has a few major ups to his game and a few MAJOR downs, plus going on a ridiculous comp run doesn't help because now I don't know how he would have managed those weeks without safety. I'm not against that video idea though
In the end Josh took advantage of the goodbye messages and finale questions way better than Paul did. Paul literally played a flawless game up until the final the end where Josh got the best of him in those important categories.
You answered my question for sure cause god knows I'm not going to watch that season. His antics are not my cup of tea AT ALL but it's respectable that he caught onto what Paul was doing and outsmarted them. He definitely planted the right seeds to earn that at the end. Idk if it works in any other season tbh, but who cares cause it worked when it mattered.
I agree that I don't think it works on any other season, Josh needed to be sitting next to someone at the end who the jury just couldn't respect, and he did a good job helping himself by informing the players of Paul's antics the second they were evicted and on their way to the jury house. Josh had the perfect combination of the right jury members who were willing to be bitter, and the right person sitting next to him at the end, which resulted in him edging out the victory
I think this would have worked with any bitter jury, most of BB seasons if the jury is bitter they just don t wanna vote for sb who lied to them...and honestly...Josh may be a lot of thing but never a liar, which I think some juries d respect a LOT. Also I think Josh in most seasons d make it far as he is loyal, truthful AND a shield - so any good player d try to do exactly what Paul did...drag Josh with him as his number, as already said in most cases Josh d at best get 50k, but int those 1/5 seasons where we get a really pissed of jury - we d get Josh as the winner. Also while not the same to me Josh within the circle of winners is closes to Rachel as a person.
i didn’t like josh when bb19 first aired, but looking back i honestly feel bad for him in a lot of ways. i think cody definitely made a lot of comments to him that were extremely disgusting and disrespectful.
@@knifekinkI don’t think anything he did was that bad. Also yeah, he was in an alliance with Paul. Why wouldn’t he do what he says. Honestly outside of the show I’ve heard a lot of good things about him.
I both love and hate BB19. I do hate how ugly some of the fights are and how Paul kinda steamrolls the season, but I also love how dynamic the conflict was and how Paul’s steamroll eventually hit a brick wall at the end 😝 In all seriousness, Paul was a masterful player, but to an almost infuriating degree. And Josh might’ve seemed like a loudmouth idiot, but there is something respectful about how outspoken he was overall. And his Goodbye Messages are one of the best Small Moves I’ve seen of any winner.
I love this video because it shows Josh be strategic and actually respects his game when people think he had no reason to win, yeah Paul played a better game but Josh made it seem that he didn’t play much and then at the end he showed the jury why he could win and he did
Dude youre a king. As someone who is non-binary i really appreciate finding people in the community who respect Paul, bc indirectly, it means yall respect us :)
Ever since I watched Josh's preseasonn interview with Ika, I was team Josh. He was the only person from that entire season who knew who Ika was, so I was rooting for him based purely on the fact that he knew her lol. Needless to say as the season went on and everyone became unlikeable, I stuck by rooting for Josh because he was entertaining and emotional, regardless of his flaws. I was actually on the edge of my seat during the vote read and it made the entire season of hell worth it to me.
Josh has so many iconic lines I’m shocked there isn’t a compilation of him Josh was the most real person on that season and he deserves the praise for being real to everyone else
I had just started college around the time when I was watching the BB19 finale too! I was ECSTATIC when Josh beat Paul because I was really hoping to see Paul lose after single-handedly screwing everyone over. The whole cast bullying Cody & Jessica really was the only reason I got hooked on Big Brother in the first place, because I was hoping that they'd be able to get the other houseguests out. Which clearly that didn't happen, but during that time I really grew to like Josh during that season. Even though Josh always cried after starting shit with other people, and the pots & pans annoyed the hell out of me (it WAS admittedly pretty entertaining though), Josh obviously has a lot of heart and he showed his care and empathy for people like Jason, Alex, and Christmas when it came down to having to stab them in the back. He just came across as a very genuine person who didn't hide who he was on the show and wanted to win the prize for his family. I forgot that Josh did eventually realize that Paul was playing the whole house like a fiddle but that's probably another reason I grew to like him as well. Great video analyzing his game Ethanimale!
These breakdowns of contestant tactics and skills is so interesting. I’ve never actually watched big brother I’m more of Drag Race fan myself but this is so fascinating! After watching all this, to relate it back to DR, Josh feels an awful lot like Kandy Muse from season 14 and AS8: confrontational, polarizing to the fan base, upfront and emotionally honest. I just find the comparison interesting. Wonderful video I’m definitely gonna be watching more to learn about the intricacies of the show
It’s insane, BB19 was my first season. I’ve been getting into the show lately and was surprised at how much hate the season got! It definitely isn’t the best compared to others but it certainly got me hooked
I love that it all came down to Cody. I was so shocked. I thought staying true to his word meant they didn’t take paul out and he coasted like he said he would.
I loved Josh on his season. He brought a lot of humor that no one else brought. Also I didn’t like Paul at all in either of their seasons so Josh winning made me happy.
"I've seen alot of people who haven't BB question, how did Josh win a strategic and socially driven game like BB?" From your intro, I can confirm you made this video for me 😆
What a great video! You explained this so well. I was definitely one of the people who was furious that Josh won at the time but have definitely come down off of that because jury management is a part of the game.
Season 19 of big brother is my absolute favorite season of the entire show, I can watch this season over and over and not get tired of it I love his funny self with the meatball he is.
Considering how abysmal the whole season was, Josh was a bright spot for me.. he's the kinda character I wish we got more of, a little conflict and clownish antics can be good TV. It was also nice to see ANYONE recognize how dominant Paul was actually playin'.
I first saw Josh on the challenge and didn't like him because he was loud and fighting with everyone. Then I watched him on the Big Brother and actually liked him. He brings a lot of entertainment to that show. He's grown on me and I hope people stop sending so much hate to him.
I was so shocked that Paul didn’t win because how it felt like everyone was so in love with him & it was so uncomfortable. Going back and binging the season really changed my mind. It made sense, Josh played how Evil Dick played. He was straight forward, he lied when he needed to and then owned up to it when he needed to. He was smart, he was an ass and he did deserve this win.
I have to admit... I did NOT respect Josh's game like most fans during his season, but this video kind of changed my mind. On another note: I started watching The Challenge when I found out Kayce was on, and then was also shocked to find out Josh was on the same show. I keep waiting for someone on the Challenge to throw some pots and pans out on him one day, but no one clearly saw Josh's season on Big Brother!
That’s both cool and hilarious that you stopped watching it 😂 I’m sure that Josh doesn’t get recognized too often from people that don’t realize he won Big Brother
Paul is such a cool player to me because he's one of the best players ever at every aspect of big brother other than the one factor that makes the difference between 2nd place and a win
It's so interesting so see this season being framed as "this is how josh worked his way to the top", as opposed to "this is how paul fumbled his way to second place again". ...Even though I believe that the latter is more correct lol
What I find ironic was Alex revealed in a backyard interview that Josh would’ve won in a landslide if he took Christmas because the Jury didn’t like how Christmas fell under Paul’s spell 😂 and yet thinking back I can see Cody, Mark, Elaina, Jason, Raven, and Alex probably would’ve been the ones who wouldn’t have voted for her because Cody didn’t like her, she was HOH when Mark and Jason were evicted, and Raven felt betrayed that Christmas didn’t want to go into a final 4 with her. Plus Josh would’ve got a lot more respect if he was the one who took Paul out
I feel like Josh is over-hated by the fandom. He might have been annoying early on but he showed he was funny and emotional. I am glad he was the winner and not bullies like Cody or Jessica.
I loved Josh in BB and I still love him in the challenge. I'm hoping he's in more future seasons of the challenge and possibly an All Stars season for BB.
I feel like I'm in the minority of people who liked Paul's 2 seasons solely because of Paul's chaos, was their tactics a little sketchy? Yes, but that's what made these seasons so fun-
The only reason Josh won is because the jury hated Paul so much, cody and Jess had the last laugh by winning The Amazing Race and the million dollar prize!
I know it’s unpopular, but I loved BB19. Yes the twists were excessive & yes the houseguests blindly following Paul was annoying at times, but this season was ENTERTAINING week after week, and that counts for something!
@@SatoshiMochidaTheKing I knew this comment was coming :) I totally understand if the season (especially the feeds) turned some people off, but I enjoyed the season week over week. I thought it was wildly entertaining. Have a good day!
While I agree with the video overall and if anyone deserved anything out of this season other than Jason and maybe Alex it was probably Josh, I think it's a bit disappointing that you didn't spend any real time acknowledging the huge black mark of the out of control cruel harassment that went on in this season, and how much that Josh was a part of it. Did love your episode on Steve though, severely underrated season.
I d say Josh has pretty good people skills, which is why he won and why we see him make endgame in the Challenge almost contantly evne tho that game is far less socially oriented. Yióu could also say that if you fight with people, you get to know them much better, and just based of that Josh probs had more inputs on everyone, coz he literalyl fought with almost everyone on that season. Also weird thing, but sometimes I remember Cody calling Josh fat, and can t help it but wonder if he knows how fit Josh has gotten since.
Omg I swear I just asked that about Josh... I missed his and Kaycee's season of big brother But I never miss a chance to watch the challenge until they brought Da'vonne on the challenge and I started watching big brother again and I am a huge fan !!! Thank you for explaining that million dollar question lol what's really funny is I quit watching big brother after Paul's first season
At the time I was thinking that
Josh didn’t win big brother, Paul lost big brother.
And that's a strategy
No, Josh won. He played to people’s faces which is a high risk high reward strategy, and he called Paul out which was great to give him favour in the jury.

I both love and hate BB19. I do hate how ugly some of the fights are and how Paul kinda steamrolls the season, but I also love how dynamic the conflict was and how Paul’s steamroll eventually hit a brick wall at the end 😝
In all seriousness, Paul was a masterful player, but to an almost infuriating degree.
This really means a lot to me for you to say that, I’m happy to have you as part of the community :)
@@smittybadcall Of course BB Twitter and Reddit don’t! That is literally the most toxic community I’ve ever encountered on the Internet
@cookieboy 14 No one cares about your ignorance :)
maybe they respect josh game more then paul he should won bb18
i had no idea until now paul was non binary
Ever since I watched Josh's preseasonn interview with Ika, I was team Josh. He was the only person from that entire season who knew who Ika was, so I was rooting for him based purely on the fact that he knew her lol. Needless to say as the season went on and everyone became unlikeable, I stuck by rooting for Josh because he was entertaining and emotional, regardless of his flaws. I was actually on the edge of my seat during the vote read and it made the entire season of hell worth it to me.
it was the first and only time that my "preseason fav/pick" actually won. (If Josh or Betty win bbcan10 that will be my second correct pick!!)
Josh has so many iconic lines I’m shocked there isn’t a compilation of him
Josh was the most real person on that season and he deserves the praise for being real to everyone else
After watching this video, I've gained so much more respect for Josh's game. Truly a meatball king.
Wonderful video I’m definitely gonna be watching more to learn about the intricacies of the show
Edit I meant Season 13, not 14. Thanks for the heart!
I totally agree with what you said in your "Twists" video - Josh won this season largely because of how he handled the "twist" that was Paul's return
It’s insane, BB19 was my first season. I’ve been getting into the show lately and was surprised at how much hate the season got! It definitely isn’t the best compared to others but it certainly got me hooked
was it because it was alot of drama?
I love that it all came down to Cody. I was so shocked. I thought staying true to his word meant they didn’t take paul out and he coasted like he said he would.
I was such a huuuuuuuge fan of Paul but I appreciate Josh’s win after this video
I loved how you sound genuinely excited to talk about Josh, its obvious your more of a fan of him then you let on!
Also Josh is the first Hispanic male and POC male to win. Let alone the fact that he is actually the first black winner since he is a AfroLatino
Will you ever do this for other seasons? I think it'd be interesting discussing other people's games and how they won.
I'm definitely thinking about it! If I do, I'll probably throw out a poll of four winners and let the viewers decide between them
Josh should have said his biggest game move was only having to play Paul while he let Paul play the rest of the entire house
Josh is my favorite player of BB and the reason why I started watching The Challenge. He makes for good tv
This video has given me a greater appreciation for Josh, so thanks!
This was good because Josh really did play a smart game!!! I’m impressed! And I’ve met him and he really is a sweetheart!
AS a longtime challenge watcher thank you for this excellent deep dive into Josh's win on BB. Really crazy
id be lying if i said i dont live for josh and codys petty fights , i miss drama filled szns that made the show so interesting
I keep waiting for someone on the Challenge to throw some pots and pans out on him one day, but no one clearly saw Josh's season on Big Brother!
i loved this season i grew up watching this omg the memories love josh so happy he won
I fucking love Josh. I hope you do a Challenge documentary on him after this next season
He’s my neighbor! We love BB & ofc this is this one season I fell off of watching. The first time I saw him I didn’t even realize he won 🤦🏾♀️ haha
That’s both cool and hilarious that you stopped watching it 😂 I’m sure that Josh doesn’t get recognized too often from people that don’t realize he won Big Brother
@@Ethanimale in my defense I first noticed him after seeing him on BB 😆
@@briannajazmin7144 that makes so much more sense lol
Paul is such a cool player to me because he's one of the best players ever at every aspect of big brother other than the one factor that makes the difference between 2nd place and a win
It's so interesting so see this season being framed as "this is how josh worked his way to the top", as opposed to "this is how paul fumbled his way to second place again".
...Even though I believe that the latter is more correct lol
17:24 even Paul looked shocked at what Christmas said
What I find ironic was Alex revealed in a backyard interview that Josh would’ve won in a landslide if he took Christmas because the Jury didn’t like how Christmas fell under Paul’s spell 😂 and yet thinking back I can see Cody, Mark, Elaina, Jason, Raven, and Alex probably would’ve been the ones who wouldn’t have voted for her because Cody didn’t like her, she was HOH when Mark and Jason were evicted, and Raven felt betrayed that Christmas didn’t want to go into a final 4 with her. Plus Josh would’ve got a lot more respect if he was the one who took Paul out
The Josh face when Paul went from crying to laughing was hilarious
As someone who loves the challenge but doesn't watch BB you explained it great. Because I can not stand Josh but see how he won now
Season 19 is my favorite season and there is no competition in my mind
Whether or not you respect Josh's strategy of making the evicted houseguests bitter towards Paul, you can't argue with results
Has anyone realized paul is wearing the same clothes from both Finale nights
Oh my gosh PLEASE do a video analyzing how Jackson Michie won big brother!!
I feel like Josh is over-hated by the fandom. He might have been annoying early on but he showed he was funny and emotional. I am glad he was the winner and not bullies like Cody or Jessica.
I loved Josh,he had me laughing threw the whole show
same
I loved Josh in BB and I still love him in the challenge. I'm hoping he's in more future seasons of the challenge and possibly an All Stars season for BB.
You said you would do it and you did. respect
Josh won due to Paul taking him to final two , but Paul forgot Cody would never vote for him to win. It came down to Cody's vote.
But josh took Paul to the final 2, not vice versa
Bb19 was my first season and it was awesome
Great video as always.
i met josh in august in arlington, very nice
I disliked josh but seeing him win at the end of this video was really emotional for me 🥲
I feel like I'm in the minority of people who liked Paul's 2 seasons solely because of Paul's chaos, was their tactics a little sketchy? Yes, but that's what made these seasons so fun-
Yeah I can’t believe the consensus of people not liking Paul or this season he was a great player and these fans are so lame
The only reason Josh won is because the jury hated Paul so much, cody and Jess had the last laugh by winning The Amazing Race and the million dollar prize!
challenge fan and not a fan of josh but this video really did make me respect his gameplay
"you played yourself you big linguini" is one of my fav goodbye messages ever
Please do more videos like this
I'm definitely thinking about doing some more videos of "How ___ Won Big Brother"
I know it’s unpopular, but I loved BB19. Yes the twists were excessive & yes the houseguests blindly following Paul was annoying at times, but this season was ENTERTAINING week after week, and that counts for something!
if you find toxicity and bullying entertaining then it sure was
@@SatoshiMochidaTheKing I knew this comment was coming :) I totally understand if the season (especially the feeds) turned some people off, but I enjoyed the season week over week. I thought it was wildly entertaining. Have a good day!
@@coreylawson8825 you didnt deny my comment but ya your right everyone has different tastes :) have a good day as well!
You madman you actually did it 😂
Imagine what would have played out if Paul was never in this season...
The look in Cody’s eyes is fantastic everytime he speaks to Josh
I wish you would show the final jury questions in these videos, otherwise the videos are perfect
This was my first BB I watched in real time 😂 I loved Josh
Unpopular opinion: bb 19 is a top 10 season because of the way Paul played and the cast was great
Great video!! I just cannot handle josh though 😭🤚🏽
Thank you! And like I said, I understand that Josh is not everyone's cup of tea and that's totally okay lol
@@Ethanimale also thanks for being so respectful regarding Paul’s pronouns!!
Josh is one of my fav winners simply bc of his reaction 😭
This was amazing you should do Nicole next
Omg I swear I just asked that about Josh... I missed his and Kaycee's season of big brother But I never miss a chance to watch the challenge until they brought Da'vonne on the challenge and I started watching big brother again and I am a huge fan !!! Thank you for explaining that million dollar question lol what's really funny is I quit watching big brother after Paul's first season
Glad I could answer the question for you!
