I love the throwback to TAB COLA. Well done, sir. This airbox design is a huge improvement over the 2004-2014(?) design. My 20210 Avalon is so frustrating to replace.
So love that I can do this BUT I've done it twice (ev 10,000 miles) so far and each time I do it I get a rattling from the engine on start up. Not every time i start but enough that it worried me the first time. I repeatedly check to make sure I have the right filter, the housing is on tight and tabs in, clamps locked etc... But it still reoccurs. My car (2015 Avalon) only does this after I change the engine air filter myself. Any ideas?
Those years used the 1MZFE engine. The good news is that the filter is exactly the same and the process is the same too. Though the filter housing may be in a different area under the hood.
The filter for a 2005 Avalon is different than the one shown. Also, the filter housing has three clips, versus the two shown in the video, and they are slightly different clips. The 2005 housing also does not have tabs, as this video shows starting at about the 2:25 time of the video.
I'm changing the filter on my '05 Avalon right now. O'Reilly's gave me the right shape filter (not rectangle) but the edges are thicker than the previous one. Trying to sort out if I'll be able to get it to seal properly, with the two notch-type fittings in the back. The brand of filter I bought is Wix
My 07 avalon's filter is different. Takes a lot more effort. Still not a hard job, but the lube shop my mom took it to couldn't get the airbox lid to clamp back evenly so it was sucking unfiltered air.
From what I can tell the oil is the same, but the oil filter is a different model. I am not familiar enough with the Hybrid model to answer the question 100% accurate. An oil change on any car is very standard so the steps I describe here will be almost identical to what you will find.

How do you change the other filter in the filter box?
Great videos, The oil change one was helpful as well. I sent you a couple bucks, thank you.
Thanks this video is great 👍🏽. I will change mine tomorrow on my own 😊.
So glad this was helpful.
Right to the point. Thanks!
So the 2000-2003 Avalon used a different engine then right?

Wack. Sorry to hear about that. What engine does your car have?

Is this replacement any different for a hybrid?
