I love that i get to come back after the Mahomes Super bowl and watch this.
Me too
Lmaooooo fantastic
I just had this recommended this morning and had never previously seen this clip. At least these guys weren't clowning the Chief's and Mahomes like Chris Carter was. Chris Carter made it sound like the big 12 is trash, mahomes is trash and the Chiefs are stupid; then never even retracted all of his statements to be like "You know what, I was wrong".
These guys were just head scratching wondering why they took him. Alex Smith was playing pretty well, it was a fact mahomes did have poor foot work so I suppose it was a valid question.
but he will never win one... why did the chiefs draft him? they were so close without him lol
Yessss me too 😆😆💪💪💪🔥💯
This is a certified classic

Elite Chiefs defense in 2017, lol, the defense was awful.
Even more certified in 2025
They didn’t let the woman talk and she was making the most sense
That bothered me so much. The dude in the plaid shirt could not stop talking
The lady only one that would qualify as being a NFL scout! The first guy is a bum!

That's usually the way it goes lol
Yeah , I wish she said , stfu guys and let me speak!

See you next year.

I’ve never thought I’d see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl now I can’t decide which one of them is my favorite … crazy
Here 2026 it's his 4th in a row 😮😮😮😮
This aged wonderfully 😅
😂 where are these jokers now
@anurag123B, They must be still debating why did the Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes..🤷♂️
Now you know why they drafted Patrick mahomes
To be fair it's easy to say that now
Antbeast23 When they drafted him I started looking at his film. So many ‘football guys’ are archaic thinkers. “His footwork’s bad, he throws off platform” That would be a problem if the throws weren’t accurate. When you watch his games, it’s pretty obvious that he was making multiple reads, killing plays & making the correct throws. When you learn what a hard worker he is, it was a no-brainer pick.
His ability to throw off-platform is a big advantage over 99% of the QB's in the league. And now everyone in the league will start looking for QB's with a baseball background (shortstop/pitcher) to make similar throws.
Antbeast23 .... Mahomes didn’t play the quarterback position until his junior year of high school.... and in college broke the all time NCAA record for passing yards per game.... to be fair it was easy to say that then
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 yes thank you
Why did the Chiefs draft Mahomes? Because Alex Smith is not getting it done in the playoffs and the Chiefs want to win a Super Bowl.
Gary McKenzie pretty much lol... have a relatively young roster around him outside of a few long time vets... we've got a really talented young roster... perfect time to bring in a young QB with tremendous upside
Now? :)
Gary McKenzie LOOK WHERE MAHOMES AT NOW
And they just might...
Gary McKenzie and they just did🤣
They barely let Frelund talk, but the half second intervals she got if you could hear her were 100%. That's probably why it's 2020 and she is on tv, and they arent.
This popped up in my feed two days after the Chiefs and Mahomes just won their third Super Bowl. Crazy!
Mahomes will be a god amongst men.
A GOD AMONGST MEN
This is looking pretty good so far.
This would have looked nuts when you posted it. These days you see comments like this all the time haha
U are correct
@TheWhiteWhale I said it in 2016... Mahomes against DB U in a hero ball Aaron Rodgers style loss...that Should have sold more people than it did...
good call.....last year 50 tds and this year super bowl champion and the best is yet to come.
They keep interrupting the girl & she is making the most sense. The funny thing is that guy on the far right essentially thinks he knows more than a long time & successful NFL HC. But hey, it is good entertainment 6 years later.
There’s a reason why Cynthia Frelund is the one we see most on NFL network and these other clowns, especially Matt Smith aren’t.
Its embarrassing how much she is talked over!
Rewatched after what is now the third Super Bowl MVP. Doesn’t get old! 💪 💍 💍 💍
Damn could they cut her off anymore?
Nick at Nite everyone got cut off
Sad part is she was the only one making sense.
Let the girl speak!!!!
Brad Gb Cynthia Frelund isn’t exactly known for being a football expert.
They shouldn't let her talk at all.
The Chiefs weren’t close before Mahomes. The guy on the right was delusional.
Revisiting this video after Mahomes +5000yds 50 td year. Its time for these dudes to reevalute what they believe makes a good QB.
But his foot work is bad 😂😂😂😂
@@mattvanley7215so funny to see him throw a Super Bowl winning TD to hardman moving right, off one leg, Side arm

Only with a brain.
Who is that reasonable lady?
You mean the only person who made any sense, but got talked over by all the idiots in the room?🤣
Gruden thinks Mahomes is the best QB prospect in the draft. Reid and Gruden talk a lot, Reid did same with Eagles. Gruden with the Bucs. Both are QB junkies.
RoNīN GaiJiN
You meant whisperers
id say he was
I feel like he was kept secret for as long as possible even before the draft
Gruden was exactly right
Why is footwork important? To make accurate throws, right? Watch Mahomes play. What you'll see is bad footwork, but he puts the ball where it needs to be. That's something that can be fixed with coaching. Arm Strength, work ethic and leadership can't be taught. Mahomes has everything he needs in KC to be successful. Because he played in an "Air Raid" system, people want to just leave it at that. He's not like any other QB that has come out of that system. Evaluate people on their talent, not their system.
He has what I call "natural accuracy." There are a million guys with perfect footwork who cannot hit the broad side of a barn. You rarely have a clean pocket in the NFL. Making accurate throws on the run with awkward arm angles and so forth is an extremely important talent. Mahomes is one of the most talented in the world at this part of the game. He seems to prefer throwing on the run (even across his body) versus a more normal play in the pocket. Fascinating to watch. I think it comes from his baseball background playing shortstop.
Hmm looks like perfect footwork to me looking back at the season
PHENOMENAL take 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾

Mahomes isn't afraid to throw the ball down field. When you have one of the fastest guys in the league with Tyreek Hill and a RAC machine in Travis Kelce you can do wonders with the offense I think Pat can be good for the Chiefs.
I’m a time traveler. I think so too. This will be the perfect fit. 🤣

Can't wait for Mahomes to prove everyone wrong. Thank God for Jon Gruden and Chris Simms for seeing how much of a ceiling this guy has with the PERFECT environment to develop in Kansas City. Everyone is acting the other 2 QBs are Day 1 starters in the NFL. Mahomes will be ready when his number is called. Watson and Trubisky will be thrown into the fire fail
trubisky yes because of the pieces around him he'll most likely fail, but Watson no, his defense is too good and has a potent run game with reliable catchers.
Trey Bens yea I forget how much talent is on Houston's roster. They are literally a QB away from really competing in the playoffs. Let's just hope he's more than a game manager (Alex Smith). Game managers could only take you so far in the NFL
JS Shem yea if he makes the transition from college to the pros he'll be set up for a nice run in Houston. I didn't really get all the hype around Trubisky in the first place. This years QB class wasn't the best but I know that Mahomes is what we've been missing in KC. He literally can throw a 80 pass. He led College Football in yards for a reason and beat out two good QBs (who transferred to other good college programs and started) for the starting position at Texas tech. The only knock they have on him is footwork and decision making, which can be taught. His ceiling is way higher than the others. All of these QBs are projects in reality
Rvh Flvcko Correct.....Andy got a job for the next 10 years
Trey Bens I think all 4 of the QBs landed in very good spots.....If they fail its on them....The Pats lost there creditability with selling QBs so the Browns might be the new qb shop
The Chiefs are one of the youngest teams in the NFL... Look it up
Smith's window is closing- not the roster.
Urc Berry i believe the chargers now are even younger collectively than the chiefs. like on offense they only have 5 players over 25, Russell Okung, Matt Slauson, Travis Benjamin, Phillip Rivers, and Antonio Gates. On defense they are just as young like only 5 over 27.
Probably true at this point considering the Chiefs pretty much kept everyone worth a pile of spit outside of Poe; who was replaced by Logan. The Chiefs are going to reach a point financially next offseason where they don't have any key FA's leaving per se outside of Bennie Logan, but they have a lot of liquid money they can get from cutting at this point overpaid players such Hali, Johnson, and possibly Smith and convert that into better value. Could also go the route of extensions to guys like say Marcus Peters, Mitch Morse, Dee Ford or go to the FA market to make a splash. Some pretty respectable financial options to have as far as the cap goes- especially if Mahomes happens to be ready for the 2018 season. Pretty good spot so long as the drafts keep churning out talent.
Urc Berry you hit it right on point man!... i totally agree with everything u said. hali and johnson needs to take a pay cut or trade them. we got so many upcoming young star players who needs get paid and kept in the team. #peters #hill are one of the few who needs to stick around. those two keeper and need to make room in our budget! contract extention will not be easy or cheap with these two.
btw are you ERIC?? :) :)
Some things have already kinda sorta come true. Like for example they cut Maclin to create cap space; some for extensions either now or carried over to next season with the latter seeming more likely. As for the stuff you talked about in your post:
Well DJ already has taken a paycut (along with Sherman) just this offseason so I really doubt he'd do it twice. It's either a cut or keep deal with him. Tamba's situation is weird because he's productive when on the field but he's not on it much and you have a suddenly emerging Ford to make things awkward; Ford was widely seen as a bust prior to the new Hali contract. Seems to have it figured out and then had a hammy which is pretty much GG for a get who relies so much on an elite getoff to set up his moves.
Right now, the Chiefs are at 11.44M in cap which is about where you want plus a little extra just to make sure you can fill out the roster in the event of injuries.
Key FA's:
Bennie Logan is the only certified valuable player and a guy I would rather not lose as long as his pricetag isn't delusional
Other FA's:
Colquitt; Punter, will never convince me he deserves to be the highest paid punter ad infinitum in his late 30's. Not a guy I'd want.
Sherman: Meh, it's a FB. See Colquitt. It can't hurt THAT much.
Terrance Mitchell; if he carries the end of 2017 over, he might be a Bouye 2.0 situation but I kinda doubt it. He's a real sleeper to blow things up cap wise. Ok with losing this guy most likely, however.
Ramik Wilson; If he keeps improving this might be a guy you want to consider keeping around at the S-ILB spot opposite DJ's old spot.
The Rest of FA's for 2018 look mostly like roster filler to me. Can focus on roster filling and extensions from there if you cut Hali, DJ and preferably trade Smith (you don't want a team like Denver to get him; even if you were to only get a 7th back) which would put the Chiefs at 30.7M in cap space before carryover which in an idealized non-injury world would be around ~40m if they simply carry it over. I think they have enough liquid money to at least allow them to transition to the Mahomes era in reasonably good shape provided the drafts aren't ass. They tried hard to max out the Alex Smith era and fell short, but not for a lack of trying; even if it got the GM fired for a constipated cap. (seriously WTF?)
Probably won't be dabbling very much in FA until 2019, but Morse, Peters, and Ford would be among the top FA's at their positions if they made it to FA I am guessing so it'd be advisable to bite the bullet and extend them if you can after 2018.
Urc Berry i agree Colquit and sherman arent game changers. now that we have found an explosive and a well dynamic player especially in special team, and deep passes # 2PMandHILLduo.
Bennie Logan was a nice a little pick up for the team after losing Poe. Now, unless its a low reasonable price, Ramik Wilson, in my opinion is not worth resigning once that time comes. S- SS. Daniel Sorensen(spell check), is well worth the money if he continues to play like he did last season or keeps on improving.
Terrance Mitchell helps and compliments Marcus Peters. resign is needed unless theres a bettter FA or player in 2018 draft.
as much as i think about Chiefs i never actually thought about trading Alex Smith. that wont be a bad idea! although if 2PM become a starter after losing Smith then that will mean hes going to be asking for alot 3-4years whenever his rookie contract ends! And i dont want that to happen. Pat is going to be a hall of famer! mark my word. everyone say they remind them of Brett Farve. I see more of Aaron Rogers! my point is.. the less time Pat Mahomes play with the rookie contract he has the more likely we be able to afford him and other player in the future. its already for sure 2PM has it in him. i just dont want him to play until he got one or 2 years left of his rookie contract.

"Mahomes doesn't just have Bad footwork......He has NO FOOTWORK." IMO Mahomes has the best footwork out there. May look unorthodox but it works. Buys him time and allows him to escape pass rushers. Footwork may not look good but it got the job done, since he put up some records in college for a QB.
