    Andy Reid said in his interview after the draft that they drafted Mahomes because he blew them away at the white board. He had perfect recall of plays, recognition of defense and incredible vision.

      @@loganleroy8622true lol that story is really funny, but Sean Payton also said Mahomes was the smartest QB he ever interviewed pre draft and the Saints were going to take him at pick 11 if the Chiefs didn’t jump them and get him at pick 10. and Mahomes has proven in the NFL he’s not just physically talented but also mentally superior.

      Well Brett Veach had been scouting him for some time and said he's the greatest talent he's ever seen, so you combine that with those intangibles you want out of a QB, that explains why they absolutely had to trade up to get him and do something the Chiefs pretty much never do, which is draft a QB for the expectation of sitting him for a year before he starts ahead of a veteran QB who'd been winning in the regular season but had a clear ceiling.

    The best thing to ever happen was let PM sit behind Alex Smith for a year and just learn. Build his NFL IQ and just absorb everything before being out out to the lions. It defined his career moving forward. Biggest chess move Andy ever made.

      With this, and seeing how Jordan Love played this year, I don't understand why teams will still rush a QB on the field, when we clearly see the benefits of letting them sit.

    I was texting with my buddy during OT. When the whiners kicked a field goal I said it’s over. Mahomes is the biggest competitor I’ve ever seen. He’s money.

      On 4th down, you could see Kyle Shanahan start to signal going for the TD on the sideline, then he second- guessed and went FG. It cost him a shot at winning.

    Such a good point and a unique take from Jeremiah. I don't see anyone else talking about a "memory bank" being a key indicator of current or future success, but it makes a damn lot of sense. Right or wrong on Mahomes, Jeremiah's perspective is valuable in my opinion.

      To process information faster you have to have a form of data in placed already to draw from. The speed of processing information is the same trait in all great quarterbacks.

    Any other coach especially in another time in the NFL. A team might have drafted mahomas but the first thing they would try to do is fix him they would break him down and try to change everything about him. Andy Reid said no just let him set one year and turn him lose. How many great QBs have we missed out on seeing over the years. Because a coach said we gotta fix this guy? I would say a lot.

      @@JohnnyCdz dude that's what I'm saying. There was only 2 HC looking at mahomas Reid and Payton. The only 2 that didn't want to change him because they could see his talent. I didn't know who he was until I watched him play Oklahoma. He had 700 yards in a game against Baker Mayfield.

    I remember watching Gruden's QB Camp with Mahomes and thought he had it. There was one particular moment that sticks out and it is when he made this stupidly insane throw and Gruden asked him why he made that throw. Mahomes response? Because he could. Then his official debut against Denver as a rookie showed a ton of promise. I also remember saying after the Chiefs signed Sammy that we were going to find out quickly if he was THE guy. He was.

      The first pass he ever threw in the NFL was against the 49ers….now has 2 rings by defeating them along with another against Philadelphia which is where I believe the draft was in 2017🤔 not to mention that the last one was won on their arch rivals field in SB 58 which happens to be Derrick Thomas’s retired number 🤩

      Or this - the only QB PM15 had trouble beating was TB12. TB12 is now in the booth. If PM15 stays healthy with an OL to provide protection and remains humble, a three-peat may be just the beginning (especially with Coach Andy Reid & GM Brett Veach).

    DJ's "Top 50 Prospects for the 2017 NFL Draft" has DeShone Kizer as the highest rated QB (@ #15!), Mitch Trubisky ahead of Deshaun Watson and doesn't include Pat Mahomes AT ALL?! I know scouting isn't an exact science, but that one is unforgiveable. These "experts"/talking heads need to held more accountable. If Daniel Jeremiah tells you the sky is blue, go outside and double check.

    I still remember Shannon Sharpe saying he didn’t get it, Stephen A going off because he was drafted ahead of Watson…

      Well yeah. All they get access to is the tape. Mahomes stood out because of his private interviews, which obviously were kept private by the saints and chiefs and other organizations as he was someone everyone hoped would stay under the radar.

    Mahomes' football IQ actually unleashed Andy Reid to make crazier and crazier players, more and more complex schemes
    He didnt have this dense of a playbook for Mike Vick, or even Alex Smith.

    Lots of guys have work ethic some have insane talent some have specific tools like size some can remember any play some can run some.....but mahomes managed to combine all of that into one and add new elements to the way to play the position we never seen before.....

    Anyone that called him a boom or bust prospect was a very lazy scout. He was the best qb in college football when he was at Texas Tech.

    My prediction is that 30 years from now were going to be debating if Patrick is the GOAT, only the debate is not going to be about being the GOAT qb because he'll have retired with that undeniably locked up. No we'll be debating if he's the greatest COACH of all time or if Andy Reid still holds the title.

    Great situation which has been stable, amazing talent, smart, hard worker, and he lives a simple life. I mean he seems like all he does is football and rest. He is annoying because he has zero weaknesses and he evaluates his WRs and people want to play with him.

    I compare and contrast Mahomes to Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray is an amazing athlete, but he doesn't have the work ethic that Patrick Mahomes does, not even close. He also the smartest, and hardest working qb in the NFL. Maybe, MAYBE Peyton and Brady were in the same league for work ethic, but I'm not sure.

    Why are we acting like the Chiefs talking 3 peat “openly” is so omg 😱 they’re so bold. It’s every teams goal to win a Super Bowl… every season right? It just so happens if they win next year it will be a 3 peat…. Of course they are talking 3 peat. They can’t talk about winning a SB (like every other contender) without talking 3 peat.     I think the only reason mahomes wasn't seen as the future of the position is cause he was not a stand still qb and he played baseball so his focus wasn't all on football even as he turned age 20...had he waited a year to come put at age 22 he is the 1st pick of 2018....no doubt....he was just raw and young

    Daniel Jeremiah always makes bad mocks & bad scouting reports on players. The only time or moment he gets a mock correct is 8hrs before the start of the draft. He gets insider info from some teams' 1st pick. In other words, ignore everything he says in Jan thru mid April (cuz he is awful at it) & listen to his tweets immediately before the draft.
