- Ever wonder how to make your rear apron removable? I had to do it over the weekend so I made a little video for you guys that may want to do it as well. It's pretty easy 👊
8/10/22 EDIT: Sorry I haven't gotten video #2 done yet, life has been busy over the last year!

Perfect timing, I plan on doing this same thing this next weekend! Thanks for the video!
Great video. To the point with no b.s. thanks!!
Thanks! Sorry I haven't made the follow up video yet. It turned into a very busy year.
Looking good and wearing the correct sweatshirt 👌
Just for you 😀
Very cool!!
Cool video
Excellent video.
Now to have my son do this to our bug.
Thanks! It's so worth it.
pretty cool
want to see the next part good video so far .... arghhhh can't wait :)
Unfortunately work have been crazy busy and I haven't had any time to work on my car again. So it still sits just link this 😭
Hell ya
Hey loved the video, was there ever a part 2?
When is part two coming? I want to make this as well but i want to know how you have made the quick release
I've got my 65' body off the chassis; I've gotta do this apron mod. Hopefully part 2 is coming soon!
It will be a couple weeks. I'm going on vacation soon! If you send me an email to mario@thedubshop.com I can forward a few pictures of what I did on my other car though :)
@@thedubshop Just checked back, still no part two. My son and I were really looking forward to part two. It's as if you don't make money on UA-cam...LOL.
@@ibrewster Hi John, nope, no money from UA-cam.. I actually haven't been able to do anything to my car since this video :( So I cry a little every time I walk by it working on everyone else's stuff.
@@thedubshop Well, you got me motivated anyway. My apron is now removed!
Water boxer ?
Yes sir! This is just a core for mock-up stuff.
Good to see the correct engine fitted lol.
Is a Marco Mansi kit destined for the bug I wonder?
@Marco is providing the power plant for this project ;)
Hey Mario, ever get around to putting together a part 2?
Did you ever get around to making a video on the quick remove apron?
Did you you just use a standard drill bit or a spot weld cutter?
3:00 Where did you buy this rear apron? I Can find it on ebay?
so I guess you aren't using a rear bumper? if you are going to install a bumper, it seems to me that it would be more work removing the bumper than it is to just pull the motor the regular way. as it stands, I can change a bug motor in 45 minutes
plenty of info on removing it available ... But nobody seems to bother posting a descent vid on how to make a quick release ... 😕
I haven't been able to work on this since the video. Hopefully, this winter I can finish this part at least. My projects always come last, unfortunately.
when are you gonna post the quick release one?
I have been busy in the shop and haven't had a chance to get any further on remounting the new apron. Hopefully soon though!
Ooooff 1:58 all those metal bits in and around the inlet manifolds.... You could have easily blocked them up
This is just a mockup core motor. It will never be used in real life :)
Hey um, still waiting for part 2 lol
Life got busy. That was the day I got to work on it 🙁 Coming soon though 👍
Where's the second part??
My shop is full, no time to work on my own stuff 😥
Still waiting for the quick release video. 😴😴😴
Put Curt to work on it!!!
Cut the water jackets off next 🤣
Nooooooo 😆
@@thedubshop been bugging you on Facebook too. Lol. Hey it would be cool to build a OxyBoxer.
