Loved this video! I am 56 and have been stitching since I was 9. You can teach an old dog new tricks!!!! I just learned how to start and end a lone stitch with a pin( pinn) stitch! I have never been able to wrap my brain around that. Thank-you Cassandra!!!!!!! Can’t wait to try it out!!!!
Do you have a recommendation for a good cross stitch hoop? It seems like it's very hard to get the hoop on and secured, especially when it's new fabric. I've had the hoop pop off and nearly take out an eye!
I really enjoyed this. I have wondered about a lot of it for a while but your floss tube was the first to show it! You guys crack me up and I enjoy it a lot! #dogs #squirrelmoments #greatcontent
It is called a pin stitch/ or pinhead stitch. I love your videos. I have a hard time stitching on anything over 18 count. Thank you for making it easier.
Enjoyed your tutorial I'm not big on 28 count bc of the small holes hard to see, but this is very helpful and might give it a try. Thank you for sharing have a Happy Mother's day and stay safe 😊💖
cathy denison thank you for your kind comment!! And yeah, there are multiple counts of Aida. I was just using 14 for the purposes of this video. Happy Mother’s Day to you as well!
I’m new to Evenweave, I’m an Aida stitcher. I think stitching on Evenweave finally clicked. My question. Is Evenweave the same as Laguna are they just different names for the same fabric? Also, if the pattern says Belfast, would I just use the same count (that the Belfast is) as Evenweave?
Apparently, I have the sense of humor of a grade schooler, because I rewound and watched ‘the belch’ at least three times. Sooooo funny! 😂 😂 😂. Seriously, though, it was good to see something basic like this. While I’m not a newbie stitcher, I’ve always been intimidated by patterns with those stray, single stitches. In those instances, just that one pin stitch at the end would really be sufficient to anchor it? For starting, I can see it, but for ending, I think I’d be too paranoid. It really holds enough?
LOL. Girl I rewound it also a few times. Yes it is plenty to anchor it! if you pull it tight you can see why. Try using the pin stitch to start and you can see that it really is anchored well and will definitley hold for your ends.
I am in my seventies, and lock down has brought many of us back to x stitch after a long break. Cataracts and aging make it difficult. Do you use magnification, if so could you give some recommendations. You two are so well matched and fun. Luv from the UK.
You two are so stinkin cute. I just love your energy! Anyhow I want to order your geisha girl but I’m having trouble finding the fabric. Where can I order it from? And do they carry that color in like and even weave or aida. I’m a newish stitcher and I have not stitched on linen yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Hey Barbara! Thank you so much!!! You're amazing! You can order the fabric from a few places probably. The fabric is " memory" from picture this plus. IF you go to her website you should be able to find it. Or 123stitch should have it. Also, if you are in an area where you have a local needlework shop, they will be able to get it for you. I am pretty sure you should be able to get it in aida or even weave as well. I hope that helps. If you need any more help just let me know. I will be glad to assist any way I can.
Lugana is great and super soft! Jobelan is great also. I would do either though I want to say the jobelan has slightly larger holes than the lugana. I know that out of all the fabrics 32 ct lugana is the hardest for me to deal with because the holes are pretty closed up. So final answer 28ct which will give you the same stitch size as that 14ct aida if you are stitching over 2. (I'm sure you get that but just wanted to clarify).
I am very envious of the feelings of the two of you and yearning for your two lifestyles. Thank you for recording your beautiful life for us. I look forward to meeting and cooperating with you. May I know your mailbox?
Why do you not like aida ? I hear that all the time...what are the reasons? I’m working on 28 count evenweave for the first time...kinda freaking out cause I’m old and so are my eyes!! Ha!
I explain it in the video. It just doesn't look as natural to me. And the feel is just more rough to me. But again, I'm not hating on Aida. I don't like it personally, but cross stitching is a personal thing and if that's what you prefer, stick to that! I showed both Aida and evenweave on this video so that if anyone prefers to stitch on one or the other, I covered both of those!

Great video. Being in lock down, I use snack storage bags to hold my thread and a cosmetic bag to hold them with my scissors, needles, etc.
Very good tutorial. Thank you
Hi just starting to watch your video and would you tell me what brand/modelmagnifying light you have? It looks awesome!!❤
Loved this tutorial learned some stuff thanks Cassandra!!!🥰🥰

Welcome back Glenda! I do use magnification. I just use an ott light. The one I specifically use is a magnifier light combo.
Thank you.

How does Lugana compare? I can see 14 count Aida but don’t like it. Monaco I’m not a fan of either. What do you recommend?

The eye candy is now center stage ha ha .
Do you hold your q-snap or do you have a stand?
I have a stand. :0
Can you tell me how to use a 10 page pdf pattern? Do I tape the pattern together?
Whatever pattern you have should tell you what order they go in. I guess its personal preference. I usually tape my chart together.

Called Pinstitch to start.
Etsy shop not found .......thank you...
Thank you for mentioning that Jojo! Don't know what happened there, but it's all fixed now
Aaron is drawing more cats. LOL BTW, it's called a pin stitch.
So I was right then. LOL
I looked it up afterward and its a pin stitch or pinhead stitch.
Just get to the instruction

Disorganized and annoying with the different conversations going on.
