    I'm so glad to see you doing cross stitch, I got burned out on diamond painting for a while and went back into cross stitch after several years of not stitching. Enjoy your videos.

    I haven’t cross stitched, but I used to embroider and the last time I did it was when I lost my first born & only boy, I made him a blanket I sewed a soft flannel cloth to the back of little puppies & kitties etc I made the blanket yellow I didn’t know for sure (I knew somehow) what gender (there used to be only 2 genders that God created its even explained in the Bible) but moving right along, when I didn’t even get to see him except in photos which one small one would’ve been more than enough, I sent it along to be buried in…. I was 20 and I just ordered some embroidery supplies and I’m 62 now and Danielle it’s time to let that boy Rest In Peace and begin again you’ve been cathartic for me with the reminds me of past to begin something again

    I just want you to know you covered everthing. You need to stop being so hard on yourself. You do a great job. Relax and have a good time. You have made me want to try to do cross stitching again. I have very bad arthritis in my hands and stopped doing ccs because it hurt to bad to hold the needle for very long. I just might have to give it a go. I miss it. I love dp but its not the same. Its close but not the same. I just feel such an acomplishment after a counted cross stitch that I dont feel in a dp.

    Thanks for this! I will go back and view your other videos. Then when you talk about fractional and so on I will know. I have NEVER cross stitched in my life. In my Mom's things I found a big bundle of old CS patterns and threads. I was going to throw them out. And told myself..no... no you bird brain. LOL You do NOT throw out this type of thing. So I will re-dig them out and look at them. :)

    Thanks for the great information and guide. I have a question on a pattern I am trying to follow. In my project a symbol is set between 2 different colored floss numbers and the thread count is 1 strand. I don't know what color to use---OR do I use one strand of each floss to create a combined color with a total of 2 strands? All other floss in the project is 2 strands with the exception of 1 strand for backstitch. I hope you can help me. In any case, thanks for the easy to follow video.

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  2 роки тому +1

      I'm thinking in this case it is supposed to be one strand of each of the two colors listed for that symbol, to make up the two strands. It is called a blended stitch.

    Thank you sweet lady for your review of reading patterns. I am new to cross-stitching and I have been having a heck of a time reading the patterns. For instance, I thought "h" and "w" meant inches instead of stitches. God, I thought "That is a lot of fabric." I have been working on this project I have and well it did not go well. I used scissors to cut some of my cross-stitch mistakes and shit I rubbed too hard on my fabric and torn a hole in it. Any tips on how not to cut stitches out with scissors? I love your videos. Thank you for your time.

    I'm bamboozled by the Legend on a preprinted crosstich patter.nThere may be a circle or a slash or an X or a half triangle or some other shape. Are these just the reference symbols for the color thread, or do the markings indicate a special stitch?

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  3 роки тому

      They are just the reference symbols for the key.

    I am doing a precious moment bride and groom wedding and am a little confused as the pattern comes in a book but in order to do the pattern you have to tape the pages together and 1 of the threads that it is calling for is STRANDSHEEN OR MARLETT and no body knows what it is if you can help me out with that

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  4 роки тому

      It is a thread that is not made anymore, I think. I would try to find a substitute.

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  4 роки тому

      You would have to add stitches to it. If that makes sense.

    Hi! Just wanna ask regarding the design measurements. If I used the 14 count how did you come up with the number of 4.5x 5.4, is it by inches? And how many inches will be the allowance in each side? Thanks.

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  3 роки тому +1

      You take the stitch count and divide each of those numbers by 14. If it is not an even number I will round up to the nearest half inch or inch.

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  3 роки тому +1

      The margin all around the outside is up to you. Most people add an extra 2 inches or 3 inches in each side for framing.

    I am new. I bought a chart the uses 36 count linen. I stitch 2 over 2. That means one cross stitch over two threads, right? (I am still learning the lingo)So lets say we want to stitch the F in fireflies. In aida I know you count the holes. What do you count on the 36 count linen? Do you count two threads for every square on the chart? So at the bottom of the capital F there are 4 squares between the f and the I. So would I count over 8 threads which would equal 4 squares on chart? I have no idea if I am correct. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Also,, should I iron the linen before I start stitching? Thank you!!!

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  4 роки тому

      The easiest way for me to explain it is to have you watch this video I did. This video shows how to stitch on evenweave, but it is the same process to stitch on linen. ua-cam.com/video/F5Kpc2u18uA/v-deo.html

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  4 роки тому

      Also, I always iron my fabric before stitching, but that is all personal preference.

  • @JericaKimber

    How do I find the center of my fabric? Do I fold it in half and then in half again? I guess I could count it but that may be a bit much if it's a really big piece. Thank you!

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  5 років тому +1

      I am going to do a future video on that but yes just fold your fabric in half and then half again. When you unfold your fabric there will be light creases and where the four creases meet in the middle is the middle of your fabric.

    Question. I ordered Ho Ho Ho Jingles Lizzie Kate pattern. The model was done on 30 ct linen. If I stitch it on a 16ct Aida would you recommend 2 over 2 or 2 over 1 stitches. This is all new to me as I have only stitched in 14ct Aida

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  5 років тому

      On aida it is 2 strands of thread over 1 square.

    Hi I'm about to start a big project ( for me ) and having trouble understating what count means.
    T
    Below is how it reads on the chart and I know it's not the count of the fabric, can you possibly make it clearer for me to understand please.
    'Symbol, colour, count, colour description.'
    ¥. 3841. 18. Pale baby blue
    This is an example as to how it reads please help

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  4 роки тому

      The symbol is obviously the symbol, the color is the DMC color code. The count is the count of fabric the model was stitched on, so, yes, it was stitched on 18 count, probably Aida. But you can stitch a project on any count fabric you want. You just need to calculate how much fabric you need according to the stitch count.

    • @gloriathomas9873
      @gloriathomas9873 4 роки тому

      Stitcherista M thanks but it can't be the count of fabric as other colours are 345 for count and white is over 1000 so all I can think is it may be number of stitches
      I'll let you know when I find out different countries I'm in uk so may be phrased differently
      Interesting though but thank you anyway 😻

    • @Stitcherista
      @Stitcherista  4 роки тому +1

      Oh, yeah it probably is number of stitches per color. Didn't even think of that.

    • @Stitcherista

      I have other videos on that. But it means one strand of thread over one fabric thread. Two over two means two strands of thread over two fabric threads.

    Anyway - you once mentioned a flosstuber that you enjoy and I can't seem to find that video. I've been getting into watching some of them and would love a good recommendation. I enjoy bendy stitchy and sequins and shots or something like that :)
