Wow - what a great video! Today is stitching day, as I have many crafty projects, which means I designate a day for stitching a day for card making etc. I am not a full on newbie to linen stitching yet all of the tutorials are so helpful. Your patterns are amazing, many are in my "stitch this" folder. Thank you so much for what joy you bring to the stitching world!
Thank you it makes sense to me now watching someone actually doing it. Thanks also for the detailed download for when it think I remember how you did it.
Thank you so much!!! I’ve been stitching on linen for years but never knew which hole to start in. I knew there was a particular spot you should start but never found a good explanation. I screen shotted the diagram and next new start I will be doing it correctly. Oh and apparently I have been doing the loop start wrong too! Thanks for setting me straight on that one as well! Enjoy the rest of summer 🏖️
Thank you for this video. I have been cross stitching for 30 years but have never tried my hand at stitching on linen. Your explanation of stitching on linen is excellent; you explained it so easily for a newbie. I did download the tutorial for reference and I ordered a pattern and fabric to stitch on 32 count linen and can't wait to start! Thanks again for the video. Peggy
Wow. Did not know that linen had an orientation. Oh well. Too many stitches in my project to change now, but will look to start the next one as you have described.
Thank you, Stephanie! Now that you mention it, I think you could zoom in that much with your phone when you're stitching. Just get something to hold it (I use a product called Canvas) and turn on the video recording feature--then zoom in with your fingers. You wouldn't have to hit record. You might need to tell your phone not to sleep in the settings then change it back after a session.
@@MistyPursel that’s a Greta idea! Thanks! Also, if you ever feel so inclined, would you show how you grid the linen? I’ve seen others but I’d love to see how you do it. I need to get back to my cross stitch projects. 😀
Great video! I think I understand it now. I will have to get me some fabric and give it a try. Now to pick a pattern that doesn't have too many color changes. Can you show how to pick up/start the next color thread in a pattern?
I'm so glad it was helpful to you! :) For a color change it would be the same as what you see in the video. You'd either start right next to a stitch you've already completed (above, below, or beside), or you'd count away from the stitches several spaces to start it if it isn't next to what you already stitched. I hope that makes sense! :)
Thank you so🙏 much for sharing and teaching about linen I have not purchased any charted because of fabric cloth and count. Many blessings to you and your family 🙏✌️
The only thing I find is that it can be a bit tricky to get the linen taut enough, so I start pinning in one corner, stretch the fabric diagonally to another corner and pin that, then pull taught across each way and pin. Then I pull the fabric taut at the center and pin at the center point between each pin and keep narrowing it down like that. Sometimes even with all my efforts, I still have to redo my pinning. :)
What a great video!! Anyone watching this should be able to successfully stitch on linen. ❤
Aww, thank you, Kim! :)
Thank you for taking the time to teach us how to stitch on linen. It's scary but you've inspired me to give it a try.
I'm so glad! I hope you'll give it a try! :)

Wonderful! I hope you'll love stitching on linen! :)
Thank you Misty for this excellent and thorough video!! I'm excited to give it a try!
You are so welcome! I hope you'll love stitching on linen!
Great tutorial. When I started stitching on linen I counted three holes in each direction and after all these years I still do that. 😊
That's awesome! You find a system that works and you keep doing it! :)
I count in 2’s even when going down… so if I need to stitch in the 6th space from a stitch I count 12 holes and stitch in the 12th hole

So glad this was helpful to you! Not sure there is a wrong way to start the loop method, so long as you get the floss secured. :) Happy stitching!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you!

Yes, I would not try to change it if you already have a project going! :)
Great explanation. Thank you!

So glad you liked the video! :)
Enjoyed this. Next time, please let us see the back side of your stitching; that would be so helpful. I’m going to order some linen today!
How exciting! I hope you'll love stitching on linen!
Great tutorial and great cameras work. If only I could zoom in like that when I stitch. lol. The magnifying glass helps, but this is great!

You are so welcome! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a kind comment!
My motto - count twice stitch once, picking stitches is not fun!
Ha ha! Truth!
Thank you Misty! Very nicely done. Do you have any tips for using stretcher bars for linen? I’ve only used them for needlepoint canvas in the past.
Thank you. I noticed how tight your linen is in the video. I might try that some time.

What would happen if you didn’t begin in the right hole?
When I have done that, I made more counting errors, so the whole project got off in multiple places.
