For real!! They need to take it up with Gavin. It sucks for the employees and I feel bad for them losing their jobs. The State of California is putting the squeeze on employers by doing this, clearly. Stuff like this is going to be happening more and more in California thanks to people passing laws who are not business owners.

The law applies to businesses that have more than 60 locations . There are special considerations aswell , a business that can show that it cannot operate if they have increased wages , then that business can be exempt , they must prove that increasing prices will not benefit the business in that location . Once the cost of the employee is greater than the return they provide the business, or if the new minimum wage is simply unaffordable and causes the business as a whole to become unprofitable, there is no incentive for the business to retain the employees or stay open. The price of products skyrocketed, we had to raise the price of our items.
Then taxes went up (which not many noticed) so we had to raise the price again.
    We file taxes and everything.
We employ three workers, and one day the we got a letter from the county notifying us there would be a pay raise.
My aunt which does all the paper work looked at me and said 'if this effects us ,we would have to shut down. Five years of hard work, struggles,,out the window. (X) (x) (x) and we won't have a job anymore'

Oh my, this is basic economics. Minimum wage is a price floor. If the equilibrium is above it does nothing. If below you have a surplus which in labor is unemployment. Have no minimum wage and those that provide $20/hr value will get paid that. If they provide $1/he of value, that's what they will be paid. Price floor it and get nothing.
It is actually racist as blacks tend to be unskilled labor due to the failed department of Ed, a Dem program. Illegal immigration also prevents black market under the table bypassing these effects. All Dem policies, almost like they are still the party of Jim Crow gun control and eugenics abortion. Yikes.

If that means you take a pay cut to ensure you have money to pay for your costs to operate you do it. If you cant afford to pay your employees a livable wage and you have one then your not doing it right. That’s not why the business owner is in business. He is in business to pay his employees, but he’s mainly in business to make money. If he’s not going to make money, what the fuck is the the point in him being in business in the first place? Let's assume they went from $15 to $20/hr, so $5/hr per employee, per hour increase. No idea what their staffing is, but most fast food I interact with run with 4 at any given time, minimum.
Add in 6.2% SSI, 1.8% Medicare, 1.1% state disability (Cali), and 3.8% UI - all of these paid by the employer and don't appear on your paycheck - and the total increased cost per employee per hour is $5.65 per hour, or $22.58 for four employees.
So for $1 extra per ice cream, they need to sell a minimum of 23 an hour to break even, only considering this cost increase. That's not likely unless the place is stupid busy. And if it is stupid busy, that's more employees you need, which raises the cost. Now this is over-simplifying it a bit because there's more menu items you can spread it out on, but if you raise each customer's total bill by 25% as a result of this, people are going to stop buying, especially families.
