I'm finally beginning to pursue my dream in voice acting, and I must admit, I'm a little nervous to get into this career path. Currently trying to find the right equipment for recording and all that jazz, and practicing on some things that I'm a bit weak on for voice acting (such as doing a convincing laugh, or a fake cry)
I remember noticing, when I was a kid, that sometimes a character on one cartoon or movie had a voice that I recognized from some other show, and it would actually help me like the character and get an idea what kind of character they would be. Like some people played the 'good guys,' for instance, so I would know this is a hero character.

1. Can you do multiple different takes on a character and just send both to the director in the audition? 2. Is it important to listen to your own recordings, to improve your voice/ emotional aspects?
1.) Yes, most directors will ask for 2-3 takes for auditioning. You can do the first take how the director asked for out of the audition, and then the other two takes you can go ham and read the line however you wish. 2.) Very important to learn how to listen to your voice and becoming comfortable listening to it. Your voice sounds different in your head compared to outside of your head, so it's important to know where you need to compensate.

Ever since I saw my first film, deep down I've always wanted to be another character. Before I go to sleep, I play a role in a show that I've recently watched and play that character in my own way, or even make up my own character (idk why but it's usually a deranged character of some sort). When I play with my little brothers, I go into another character and chase them around the house. My personal favorite is the Australian chain smoker, even though my accent is shite. I only realized that I really liked voicing acting when I did this dumb Sonic parody with some classmates a few months back. It was honestly really fun, and since then I've had a dream of actually having a legit role for a character.
