What a fishing trip! That pile of chanterelles was like a pile of gold!! The woods in Alaska just look so dense and full of life. Salmon spawning in the creek was amazing.
The catch and cook was no less then amazing as well. No one does it like you Taku 👌👌

Hey Taku, I’ve cheffed for a few years. One recipe I like to make is glazed halibut with mayo crust. A generous layer of mayo 1/2 to 3/4 salt, pepper, garlic minced onions-hot peppers, (your choice) hot grill to sear move to lower heat to slow cook. Aluminum foil to make a dome not touching anything, cook to choice raw middle, medium, to well done. A sauce is choice. I like pepper milk gravy, garlic, salt-pepper, with shaved/shredded Parmesan cheese. Seasoning to taste, mild or hot.

I can't help myself, have to comment on the frickin insane fishing early on in this video. Them Cohos were FANTASTIC!!!! Nothing like a big Coho to brighten up your morning bite, they're just crazy. I sometimes get them here in The Great Lakes around the Toronto area. They're like greased lightening. No comparison fighting a Coho to a King. I've always said that catching a good sized Coho was like a big steelhead on steroids, just NUTS. Can't wait to see the rest of the video

My mom was born in Kake Alaska Tlingit Native American
one of her sisters lived in Petersburg Alaska, I went there back in 1981. The biggest salmon I’ve ever seen on a river was in Petersburg Alaskan
I’ve caught multiple Coho’s in the 20+ class! But I’ve seen big King Salmon well over 50lbs!
    This was back in 1981.
Every time I hooked into a big king it was like hooking up to a car. I couldn’t stop it! It just went up river like nothing!
I couldn’t stop any of them!
We didn’t have good fishing gear like what’s out nowadays!
I’ve also seen 70plus lbs King salmon in the salmon traps at the hatchery in Petersburg Alaska back in the day!
My personal best in Washington was a 37lb from the Skokomish River! They closed the river down to only Skokomish tribals.
That river was the best river I fish in Washington!
I use to hike down to the tidal waters and fish the in coming tide! And half the time I was all by myself with over 100 salmon sitting right in front me 😳
There was so many salmon coming up river the water would look it was boiling! Every cast was fish on! That river the best river I have ever fished!

I have a spot I usually like to get coho closer to Auke bay. I’m glad you got to experience some exceptional coho fishing here in juneau it’s so funny, everyone has there own way of filleting a salmon. I usually gut them and open up the belly flap and cut next to the collar and then cut along the spine and down to the tail flip and repeat. I always think of mushroom hunting here but i never have.
