    I watched a lot of reviews on these before buying mine, and this review is easily one of the best. Well done!

    Paul's sizing advice in this video was spot on for me. He said he normally wears a UK size 9 and also wears a UK size 9 in this shoe. The size chart on the Arc'teryx website suggested UK 8.5 for my foot length of 27.0 cm but I normally wear 9 or 9.5 so I purchased a size 9 (from Trekitt) due to this very helpful video.
    My forefoot is wider (10.3 cm) than the standard UK F medium width and I usually struggle to fit that width. However, this shoe is a US/Canada standard D medium width, which seems to be wider than a UK F. I had to loosen the laces at the forefoot, but after that the fit was perfect and they are incredibly comfortable. I also had to replace the footbeds with my Formthotic footbeds to provide extra support for my high arches and prevent pronation of my knees.
    Edit Sep 2022: After using these shoes in the UK for nearly two years I am am impressed enough with them that I would readily buy the same again. They are so light, comfortable and breathable that they quickly became my everyday shoes. If you don't need or want rigid ankle support, these are superb.

    Great in-depth review. I've had a pair of these for over a year - they do everything. Expensive, but I will definitely get another pair once mine are done. Fantastic shoe.

    I just got a pair of these in. Defo a snug fit in my true US size, which is .5 up from my UK size in these. I would say another .5 up would result in heel slip.

    Can never seem to get footwear that are comfortable without rubbing on the heels. Got a pair of Mammut hueco low gtx which feel narrow and have a very stiff and uncomfortable heel. Might give these a go, mainly for everyday winter use.

      Sounds like you need a proper footwear fitting! Buying footwear is pretty difficult; even more so online. Need to try a few pairs on in person ideally.

    Met you many times Paul. You’re staff are always knowledgeable and courteous. Good luck to you in this difficult time. On the shoes themselves - would you say they are tough enough for Lakeland walks.? Our hills are notoriously touch in footwear, as you are well aware. 👍

      Hi Dominic, thanks for your kind comments and we are so glad to get the Hereford shop back open. The Aerios Mid is a lightweight boot, but they are deceptively strong thanks to the tough nylon uppers. However, if you were venturing more off the beaten track and perhaps doing a bit of scrambling, Jacks Rake for instance, I'd advise a "tougher" boot, something like this - www.trekitt.co.uk/35482/products/la-sportiva-mens-tx5-gtx-chocolateavocado.aspx
      All the very best. Paul.

    Lovely in depth review. I'm looking at getting the std version around Christmas. Hard to see what they do different from my Salomon xa collider gore Tex but they are a beautiful design so I'll treat myself. Hope the fit is accurate as I needed a size up on my terrex eastrail goretex. Hope they last a while aswell 👍

    I'd like to hear more from users.
    I'm a toss-up between these and Lowa zephyr.
    Could you tell me how your experience with these has been so far?
    What can you tell me about its durability and long-term use experience?
    Do you think it being not so high is a problem?
    Thank you so much.

    How do these compare to the Salomon X Ultra Mid 3? I've had my Salomon's for over 5 years and they're just starting to break apart, pretty good since I've covered close to 3000km with them. Looking for a new boot now, I own a few arctery'x pieces and really happy with their quality, but i'm just a little sceptical since they haven't really been in the boot making business for long.

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 роки тому +5

      They feel more stable and planted underfoot, but aren't immediately as 'slipper like' as the X Ultra's. The sole unit on the X-Ultra will be better suited to thick mud and wet grass, however the Aerios' will perform better on wet rock/roots/hardpacked surfaces. The Aerios' are arguably more versatile and can be used for general hiking as well as scrambling, via ferrata, etc, but the X Ultra's will make a better winter walking boot. Hope that helps. Kind regards, Harry.

    Are these good for winter hiking? Or just hiking in the snow in general?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 роки тому +2

      Hi, the Arerios FL Mid GTX are not insulated, but are waterproof. You could use them in snowy conditions as they will keep you dry, but as for warmth, you'd have to wear a good pair of warm socks.

      I run these in snow and they are very similar to the cross shoes from salomon. So it varies kn yiur terrain but from 0 to minus 5 celcius im pretty good

    Do use have a review of the Salewa mens mountain trainer lite ?. Can see it in the video there with the green laces and i have been wondering if this would be a good all round walk/hike shoe or if its more of a scrambling shoe

    I would love to buy these shoes, but my only concern is the sizing. My feet are between a UK 11.5 and UK 12. These shoes come in US sizes. Which US size best correlates to UK 11.5 to UK 12 ? (My feet are probably shorter than a UK 12, but I usually get UK 12 owing to a wide forefoot. )

    • @trekitt

      Hi Thomas, my best advice would be to visit your local outdoor specialist retailer and get a proper boot fit. The Trekitt Service Centre re-opens on the 13th of April, so book an appointment and treat your feet! www.trekitt.co.uk/pages/appointments/

    What is the name of the (military) boots, next to it? Right side?

    • @trekitt

      It's not a military boot I'm afraid, it's the Mammut Ducan. www.trekitt.co.uk/footwear/boots/mammut-mens-ducan-high-gtx-black__37283

    The upper “superfabric”material is not durable, any edges of creased areas will wear out fast and turn into holes.
    I had two holes in difference places in under 4 months/500 miles. It may have abrasion resistance but that’s pointless because it does not have any flex durability.

    meindl bhutan or these ?

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  4 роки тому +2

      They're both very different creatures, so it largely depends what you're doing in them. The Aerios FL's are much lighter and more flexible, making them great for fast and light hiking, scrambling, etc. The Bhutan's are aimed at those moving a little slower for a longer period of time, most likely with a heavier pack. Kind regards, Harry.

      I think I’ll

      Or even step up to the full boot

    They’re so narrow though

    • @RichardADastardly
      @RichardADastardly 2 роки тому

      @David Robertson: They are roomier than they look.
      I have a wider than average forefoot and many shoes in the UK don't fit me well. My wife calls them Hobbit feet, although they are probably only a little wider than a standard UK F fitting. I bought mine online from Trekitt and was sceptical about the fit before purchase, but simply loosening the laces at the forefoot resulted in a very comfortable fit.
      The only times they have felt slightly narrow is when my feet have swelled after a day spent in 35 degrees Celsius heat. In more usual UK temperatures they have been excellent.
