Deviate nitro 2 is a TOP TIER cruiser in my opinion especially after it broke in! It does great on trails too. Highly recommend the DN2 on sale if you can get it for easy/steady/long runs

Last week took a pair of DN2 for sub-2 hour half and they were nice and easy on my feet. The plate is very subtle so doesn't feel like it's pushing you to go faster.

If you're undecided between these two options, consider purchasing both; you won't regret it.
Both shoes are great on rainy conditions.
Best all around trainers, The only training session I won't include with these shoes are the Sunday long runs.

Coming from a quite rough winter here in Scandinavia. The Deviate Nitro 2 has been great for snowy and icy conditions with its grippy outsole. Also good upper hold. Have used mostly for uptempo work and intervals.
Now after 200+ miles I will try to rotate in the Boston 12 as successor. Not loving the feel after the first couple of runs. Upper is quite difficult to like, either gets it too tight or too loose. Midsole a bit clunky. But hopefully it will become better after some more miles. Only have around 10 miles this far on them.
Keep up the great work with your channel!

I have both. DN2 much comfortable, especially for easy running but you can do intervals in it. B12 is not good at all for slower paces, upper is stiff, uncomfortable, ticker socks are mandatory. If you are forefoot striker B12 would work wonders for you. B12 is just not a good long run shoe for me and i use it for fast stuff.

Love the devaite such a good shoe . I've put 150 miles on mine, and there's no visible wear at all . I've run in the snow and rain and had no issues with traction, and they always seem to be on sale, so there deffo a bargain really good shoe

I recently got a pair of DN2's and really like them. I do very poorly with big rocker designs, as my calfs activate very late and with more focus than most runners. One look at the Boston 12 with very little foam under the toe and I know it wouldn't work for me. While the plate isn't very noticeable in the DN2, the forefoot cushioning and rocker design works very well.

  • @haroholic

Quite different experience for me as a forefoot/midfoot/depends on the shoe type striker, puma just a bit firm for relaxed running, fine but not great, very nice for uptempo work, also like sprinting in it. Boston feel similar in description but a bit different on foot, definitely makes me want to go harder like I can't wait to take off when I wear the bostons. Pretty great for something that walks normal, I love the design as well, casual Boston has been rocked in the past.

I bought a pair of Deviate Nitro 2s and Velocity Nitros 2s for $40 each. Amazing deal. I have over 30 miles on the Velocity 2s and they show wear on the lateral heel side too. And no treadmill runs. The rest of the outsole looks brand new.

In fairness to the lateral heel wear on Pumas… it seems like Adidas didn’t put any tread on that same spot. I know my Adizero SLs are smooth in that place.

These are my two go to training shoes. I alternate between them and occasionally throw in the endorphin 3s for longer runs. I run 30 to 40 per week 3 to for days as part of my triathlon training. Both shoes go well over 300 miles. I haven’t run in the nitro 2s….just the 1s because pumas are impossible to find in running stores in the USA where you can try them on against other training shoes. That’s how I got into the 12s (trying them on at running store) because I was looking for a good alternative to the 1s which used to be carried by the Boulder Running Company where I was able to actually try them on.

Agree with the DN2 assessment. I think the grip is also the rubber compound because even at 600 miles, it still grips pretty well on wet ground. I used it for my first solo 1/2 Marathon and it's not quite as cushioned as I'd like for that distance. Also, I agree about plated vs. non-plated in that the DN2 doesn't feel more snappy than the Novablast 3. I think Novablast 3 was a little faster for 10K paces for me.
I was looking at the outsole on my original Energy Boost shoes with Continental rubber and the outsole is not done after about 1,000 miles. I think durability has to go to Continental.
I'm curious to see you get more miles on the Craft Pacer. That shoe is $135 on RW.

I really fall in Love with both Puma DN2 and DNE2 design esthetics, and have tried very hard to make (either of) them work as my tempo/interval training shoes. However I failed, due for some reason both my heels seem to always “fallen off” the medial side of these lovely looking shoes inward. Same thing happen when I tried to test run with Adizero Takumi Sen 10, which would’ve been another awesome tempo/interval training shoes, had it not been for the same heel fallen inward thing.

After reading your post, I also weighed mine. The regular vs WTR is 235 vs 251 gram in my women's EU 40. I do have to say that my WTR version looks completely different than Yowana's pair. Mine are black with a kind of triangle pattern (similar to the gore-tex version of the velocity 2), and the Nitro Elite foam is covered with some kind of fabric.

As an older runner with tons of mileage, a few years ago ... I started experiencing a sharp pain in the balls of one of my feet. I decided to switch exclusively to carbon-plated running shoes. The pain has been nonexistent ever since ...
For some reason, non-carbon-plated running shoes ...with great cushion ... do not seem as protective. Before making the switch, I was a huge fan of New Balance ... ASICS ... Mizuno
I am pain-free now ... for some carbarn-plates are worth it ... even if the science says there is a downside

What would u recommend for long +2hrs run, marathon distance, with some support for pronation when leg is feeling weaker closer to end of the run, and for hot weather. 3 criterias :) is Boston 12 the answer? See a lot in YT saying nimbus or triumph..?
