    Recently I bought a new long run shoe for marathon training. I wanted one that would be versatile for some faster paced work, without sacrificing comfort. SC Trainer 2 felt like it has some bounce in the forefoot (V3 not in store then). Novablast 4 felt comfortable but no bounce. Mach X felt a lot like Novablast. I ended up going with the Novablast.

    The day before yesterday I did a 24 k double day and after that I felt so crushed but in a good way like you feel good after a sauna day 😁 That kind of tiredness I felt in the evening 😄😄😄
    You‘re seeming pretty fresh after your 20 mile double day 😃😃
    But between my two runs I’ve was at work at got there plenty of steps in 😅 At the end of the day I had like 43.000 steps and think that‘s the reason of my crushness 😅 That must be reason for it.
    But it doesn’t matter 💪

    Loving this channel. Was thinking of grabbing these for my first marathon in the fall (4-430 likely) as something not overly aggressive for my pace yet comfy. Primarily mid/forefoot striker. I have AP3 but I feel beat up after long runs more than I do with my Superblasts (and I hate the ap3 upper) Basically trying to find a comfy and not overly aggressive first marathon shoe. Choices.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому +3

      I think you'll like this shoe for that! so far it seems like a solid shoe for spending long time on feet without being too aggressive. Ride isn't anything crazy but it will protect the legs and make it easier to be out there for a long time. I didn't love the superblast but so far this is a little more comfortable for me than that

    • @fecardona
      @fecardona Місяць тому +1

      You could also give the SC Elite 4 a try. Similar forgiving formula for a long run, spacious toebox and the assistance of the plate after 4 hrs will be helpful. Very comfortable too. Platform is on the wide side for a racer, not too thin and not too heavy either.

    One thing yowanna doesn't address is what these kicks are GOOD at. First of all they are labled trainers. Basically a shoe that is a tool to help and progress running. These things absolutely slay on down hills. If you love hill work we all know we gotta go back down and that can feel really bad in most shoes. This shoe is like a downhill mountain bike and allowas you to chill and let your normal posture take precedence. I love hills but hate the downs because it usually feels like ur knees wanna eat your body. Also this shoe is so easy that it feels like its has guide rails and you can basically turn your brain off and stride. It reminds me of the very very old nb's with roll bar. It feels like your shoes are a coach getting you theu the run. You definitely can pick up pace and go to your toes for sprint sections. We should be so happy these companies gove us these tools to regulate different runs and aspirations.

    An interesting review today..I never warmed up to trainer V2..V1 was almost perfect except the heel was too high..had they cut 3mm off the heel the upper and the foam was great..actually the elite V3 has become my favorite racing shoe for 5k to 15k and the trainer V-1 would have been the perfect long distance run shoe..same with the rebel V3/V2 being great a shorter distance training shoes..IMO NB ruined the fuel cell shoes by changing uppers and the shape of the midsole/outsole..all of them are slappy and don't roll smoothly..fortunately for me I anticipated they would change the best line they had so I bought 3to4 of each..hopefully they will get back on track by the time I need a new stock..great videos on your trip out west and looked like a fun trip..😊

    The comparison with the SC Elite V4 is pretty spot on - very similar in both feel and ride, with the former being slightly more aggressive. I actually enjoyed the V4 so don't particularly mind this ride, but it does sorta feel like I bought another V4 (ain't nobody got the money for that 😩).
    Didn't run in the V1 or V2 so can't compare, but as a competitor in the super trainer arena, NB has a ways to go to make this a more decently cushioned and overall versatile option.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому

    • @supwell

    I have 230 miles on my SC Trainer V2's and they are showing abnormal wear. The left shoe in particular has a divet (sizeable chunk) up near the outside toes. Never had this happen with any shoe over my 42-43 years running. Could I get away with the Pacer V2, given my size (63" & 110lbs)? I would rather stay with New Balance and am not concerned about the Pacer V2 price.

  • @marcelasilva7208
    @marcelasilva7208 Місяць тому +1

    I'm going to get the Superblast 2 for long runs and i would like a shoe for speed training, what would you recommend Trainer v3 or Rebel v4? I'm afraid the Rebel won't last and the Trainer v3 will be too similar to the Superblast 2. What do you think?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому +2

      Yeah sc trainer v3 will be way too similar to have both. I'd recommend the hoka mach 6 or Adizero sl 2 - SL2 will be a lot more durable than the rebel v4 but still fun and fast. Mach 6 has a nice bouncy and cushioned ride that's good for speed - it has more of a rocker than the SL2 which makes it a little more aggressive and less versatile

  • @mississippimotoman
    @mississippimotoman Місяць тому +1

    I love how you describe this shoe. Would this shoe come alive sooner in your opinion for heavier runners ?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому +3

      Yeah it definitely took some breakin for this to soften up and get more bounce for me - also I think bigger runners will benefit more from the extra cushion underfoot. Felt a bit like overkill for me at times especially a half a size big, but similar to the SC elite v4 should work better for people who can activate the foam with more force. The Mach x is another good option to consider - ride is a bit smoother than this one but nice and bouncy and supportive with high marks from bigger runners

  • @shanedorrian8192
    @shanedorrian8192 Місяць тому +1

    Had been thinking about this one too but after seeing the review I might enjoy the Balos more and looks like it would work well for those steady/recovery days, as I’m only 55kgs might not wear the Eva foam as quick as yourself, picked up the SC Pacer V2 though after your review of it. Any chance you might do a longer review of the Topo Specter 2 ?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому +2

      Yes more coverage of the specter 2 coming soon! And balos will be much better than the sc trainer v3 for those recovery miles. So much more comfortable and a great option if you like soft. The specter 2 will likely slot in for you as more of a speed training shoe. It's non plated like the balos but much firmer and comes alive with speed

    • @supwell

      Great question! 860 is better value for me due to the price - $60 cheaper at $140 and handles any type of run. Balos is up there for the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn though. So you're getting what you pay for at $200 but it's still super expensive and a little less versatile than the 860

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому +1

      Skyward X is a lot bouncier and more fun. I'd take the Skyward X over this for most types of runs. The SC Trainer v3 is a little lighter but the additional comfort and bounce in the Skyward X make it worth it for me. Bro. Adding sub notes at the bottom is helpful. Or even doing a video breaking down what all these paces are you talk about. Im only a couple months in, and i have no idea what you mean when you say "marathon pace." Is that a relative term? Whats your marathon pace? Adding that type of stuff.. TO ME.. would be cool!

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Місяць тому +2

      Great idea - I'll think about how to add that. And for me, marathon pace is comfortably hard. It's faster than my everyday running pace but still feels relatively relaxed. For newer runners, your marathon pace will likely be the same as your everyday running pace - so when I say marathon pace, you can think about it as a faster everyday running pace. In terms of the training itself though I wouldn't worry about hitting specific pace ranges - getting some nice time on feet and building up to hour long and 90 minute runs is all you need to get faster. That's basically how I train - and then I'll mix in a faster run every week to so

      @@supwell i guess for heavy runners? Im only 150 lbs so i suppose it wont bottom out on me until i reach 300kms lol. Seriously, was eyeing the rebel coz its light but I want it to last too so i may have to go for the more v5 then. Waiting for the price to bottom out. Pun intended.

    You should’ve gone with your true size rather than half-size up. Ill-fitting shoe results in a different running experience.

      @@albertobiaritz7360 SB2 is the same as SB1 from real reviewers... only thing is the SB2 theres no breakin time and SB1 take 50-100km to get super smooth. not worth the upgrade beyond aesthetics
