I was there! I am so grateful to have been born in the same era as John Farnham. He IS The Voice! Every concert of his was amazing (I’ve been to about 15), but this one was extra special.

This concert is from 1989, which made John 40 at the time; in August 2022, John underwent urge surgery for oral cancer. John had a section of his jaw removed, and reconstructed; a year later he was declared cancer-free, and went through rehabilitation. John is getting better, apparently even singing in the shower; John celebrated his 75th birthday on the 1st of July, and still jokes around with his family and friends. John lost his longtime manager and friend Glenn Wheatley, in February 2022 ; then prior toJohn's surgery, he lost his great friend Olivia Newton John in early August.

I just love your reactions Welder, to our phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham! Yes John has recently turned 75 years old. xo ..I have been a devoted fan of John's since the early 1970's and have been so fortunate to have attended many of his awesome concerts over the past 4 decades. Please watch many more of his great hit songs and live performances, for example: 'Age of Reason', 'That's Freedom', 'Reasons', 'Pressure Down', 'Touch of Paradise', 'See the Banners Fall', 'Two Strong Hearts', 'Seemed like a good idea at the Time', 'Chain Reaction', ...just to name a few xoxo Deb🐝🌺🎶🎵🎸🎹

John is still alive. He has had oral cancer and jaw surgery which must be devastating to a singer, but he's strong and stubborn. He was declared cancer-free in 2023 and I believe he is in good health now. he turned 75 this past July.

He is so great. We’ve had the pleasure in Australia to have had John’s majestic voice for over 50 years and it is so wonderful that people are just now discovering his magical music. John is such a great performer, all aspects of his epic voice, the love for his fellow musicians and the love for his fans, John is just there for the fans and the music. Great reaction and please do more of John’s music, there’s 50 years of it out there.

The entire 'Classic Jack' concert was brilliant. Contrary to popular belief in UA-cam comments sections, this was NOT the last song of a 3 hour concert. It's almost like an urban legend where people are continuing the misinformation! It was the last song of this (1st) encore that night (he was known to mix things up). He came back and sang another encore after Help where he sang Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top in this 2 hour (of singing) concert.

I think at least 90% of all Aussies know ALL the words to ALL of John's songs. Most of us oldies have been loving his music and him since 1967 when he first sang Sadie (the cleaning lady). We heard John speak last week, for the first time since his surgery, it was absolutely fantastic to hear his voice again. Keep getting well John ❤💚💙💜.

If it were 2009 you'd be correct because this concert was in 1989. I didn't see him at this gig but did see him in Canberra in the Summer of 1987/88 and it truly was a moving experience even without a symphony orchestra - his voice and stage presence was more than enough.

Thanks Welder Reactor 😊 I am late to the party as this video just popped up for me... odd 🤔 Never mind, I am here now!
John's version of this song really takes you on a journey, and if it does not get you a little emotional, you may not be human 😅
I regretfully have not been to a Farnsey concert but I know from the comments of those who have, and watching countless performances, interviews and award acceptance speaches that he is one of the most genuine, humble and talented people out there. He really is all about the love and connection with his fellow man ❤
Thanks again for listening to John. Now onto the next video 😊❤

This is John's version of The Beatles classic song Help(1965), John sings it as a rock ballad rather than the original pop style; John first sang his version in 1980, in front of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Sydney Opera House. John Lennon was given a copy of Farnham's version, and Lennon was heard to say "This is how the song was meant to be sung!"; John Lennon had intended to release his own rock ballad of the song, but he was unfortunately killed later that year.

Another song I would recommend you react to is The Reason Why, written by Richard Marx and Phil Buckle; l would recommend watching the live performance from the 1994 ARIA(Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards.

@welderreactor Great news. Lots of updates on John's health and he has just released his book of memoirs and there's an audio version with John narrating. He is singing around the house and he wants to perform again but he just has to see how rehab progresses. His voice is still great but because of the mouth cancer and jaw reconstruction, he can't open his mouth wide enough. He is 75 now and hasn't lost any of his sense of humour, cheekiness and spirit, and the spark is back in his eyes. Soooo good. He is so loved and we just miss him ❤️💖💗
