I was so confused! I thought it was the Beatles song, then i didnt, then i did! He for sure made this his own...Fantastic performance!!!
He actually was sitting at his piano playing around with Help and came up with this arrangement in about 1979 and he sung it for the Queen in 1980 ❤ The lyrics suit John's arrangement the best and John Lennon said he wanted to sing it like this but the record company wanted the pop version. Celine Dion wants to sing it when she's back performing. John is her idol and she sang You're the Voice live with him here in Australia in 2018. Aussies favourite son and entertainer since 1967 ❤ He is also the kindest, humblest, funniest, lovely icon you will ever meet and can sing any genre and could have been a stand up comedian.
Also at the same concert, have a look at Its a Long Way to the Top, Blow by Blow and Reasons. Watch his mic and mic stand tricks and how he interacts with his band and the audience. He always introduces his band during his concerts and some of them have been with him for 40 years. Then All our Sons and Daughters and Loves In Need both live in 1990. That's just to start. He last performed live in 2020 with Brian May from Queen and had not lost any of his power or ability to sing those high belting notes. He's a chameleon. Enjoy our John ❤🎉😂
Thank you for reacting to our John ❤❤
As you stated above, you were right the first time. It’s such a different arrangement though that I got why you were confused. All of us in Australia could sing along to this version because it was released and played on the radio. Seeing your little smiles was so much fun to see.
The first band to bring out a slow version of this song was Deep Purple- although there is also footage of John Lennon singing the slow version in the back of a London taxi cab too! Farnham was a huge fan of the Beatles and took this idea and ran with it, creating such a brilliant rendition of this classic hit!
John Lennon said this is how the song should have been sung
Australian royalty and we LOVE him.
Please always John live he is the G.O.A.T so much for you to uncover of Johns work love from Australia ❤❤❤
A sublime live performance from our Aussie, the only John Farnham.
John Farnham was an amazing singer . It is so sad that he had to have a operation because he had mouth cancer . He said that one day he will sing again . He is determined to do so and I hope he will sing again .
I was at this concert… it was an absolutely fantastic evening…. And he sung this song after 2 hours… one of his 2 encores….. the best rabbit hole to fall in… enjoy the Farnham Show….
Our amazing Farnsey Simply the best ❤
Black dog. Best sound check ever
1000%. ❤ I found this several months ago.
@@houseofproctor absolutely agree…
John’s sound checks were sometimes better than his concerts…he just did random songs out of the blue here and there! 😂 I made a point of sitting outside and listening to the sound checks whenever he came to town before actually attending the concert. ❤
@@Cyannah117 He probably would have let you in 😍😍😍
Putting my hand up for Black Dog. Then Gethsemane. The guy can sing anything.
John Farnham live, always live!!
Please check out “When the war is over” from his “Last Time” concert tour. At 54 still an amazing voice. ❤
You should try to get your hands on the recent John Farnham-Finding the Voice documentary done in Australia. It’s an amazing look back on all the struggles and triumphs of Johns life because it wasn’t an easy journey for him to get companies to play his music. I love hearing people outside of Australia reacting to his videos because they end up loving it as much as we do here. I’m glad that the US was stupid enough not to take him away from us and I am glad they get to enjoy him now.
This IS THAT song ! John sings out pure joy. He is sooo charismatic and a consummate showman. Everything John sings is perfect .
Always live with this great man! The G.O.A.T!
John Farnham is the voice and the Beatles themselves said his version of their classic song took it to another level!!
One of my favourite songs that he wrote is Playing to Win. He wrote it when he did a stint as the lead singer of the Little River Band .
But the performance to watch from the chain reaction concert (live of course ) 😂😂
That's why we call him 'The Voice'.
You have no idea how much our wonderful John is adored here in Oz.💕🇦🇺
I have seen him live many times over the years and he is truly remarkable.
You both looked mesmorised by this performance. You can see now why we all told you that live performances
are the only way to watch John Farnham.
You know if John Farnham covers a song, it's going to be epic. He totally transformed this iconic Beatles classic into something so good, it might as well have been his own.
You know it's top notch when greats like Tina Turner have covered it and Celine Dion wants to cover it..
When John Farnham released his ‘come back’ album in the mid-eighties the Australian music gatekeepers tried their best to ignore it and kill off his career. He’d had a rocky time transitioning from being a highly successful teen pop idol to a contemporary artist and was considered very ‘uncool’ by the record labels and radio stations. But the Australian public made the album the most successful ever in Australia by a local artist, keeping it at number 1 for around 6 months and basically forcing radio to play it. I think his appreciation for his audience was very real and they loved him right back.
John Farnham - An Aussie battler, a great sense of humour, Top bloke and an incredible singer and entertainer ❤
John Farnham always try to listen to live. I grew up listening to John and, he’s brilliant in the studio and absolutely outstanding live! Always choose live performances where you can.
Brilliant performance! I will never get sick of watching and listening to John Farnham. It really is captivating. I'm in absolute awe of his talent and his personality. Loved this reaction. Thanks, ❤
This is a cover of the Beatles 'Help', with John's own arrangement.
In your own time re-listen to the original 'Help' by The Beatles, it's the same song.
John was learning to play the original on piano, and came up with this version himself.
Given you like heavier music, you should have a listen to John's song 'All our sons and daughters', live of course.
John Farnham singing with Jimmy Barnes the lead singer of Cold Chisel “ when something is wrong with my baby”, two of the greatest powerhouses in one song.
Goosebumps every time I watch this video of John Farnham. He is a legend here in Australia. His concerts were a treasure to remember. Yeah, that was the Beatles song "Help" but slowed down. Even John Lennon agreed it was a better version. A fine gentleman and a great friend to many including the late Olivia Newton John. You have to check out his other songs in this concert. "Pressure Down" is a good one. He has many hits along the years. A Touch of Paradise, That's Freedom, Burn For You, Burn Down, Two Strong Hearts and Listen to the Wind and many more. I would appreciate it if you both check them out. Thank you for the reaction and look forward to many more. Peace.🤞💛
Until I heard him live i. was like he's ok , but man the power in his voice goes through you.
Burn for u live will mesmerise u blokes also
Yes this is a cover of The Beatles song 'Help' which John slowed down to a slower more personal song of 'gratitude' it shows on his face the love he feels for his audience/fans.... Every song he sings should be viewed live...to capture the pure joy of his performance. Like and Subscribed. I'd recommend all the songs from this particular concert...they're 'Epic' Hi from Australia
John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes (two Australian legends) singing “Something is wrong with my baby” on Hey Hey it’s Saturday show 😊live performance will blow your socks off! You will go down a rabbit hole of amazing Australian performers. PS Don’t miss Kasey Chambers Emimen cover of Lose yourself. EPIC!
You will love his duet with Olivia Newton John, called Please dont ask me. Its on another level
Welcome to the John Farnham rabbit hole, you have a lot more to enjoy from this man, he has decades of hits.
Loved your reactions and how captivated you both were 🙂 I can't wait to see your next John Farnham reaction ❤
John's talents are more than just singing, if your lucky you might see a bit of his comic side; John has also done television and musical theatre. I would recommend you react to John Farnham singing Gethsemane from the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar the musical, check out the final night in Sydney.
Great reaction guys from Australia and yes watch any live performances from John as they are all Awesome.
Definitely add Playing to Win and Long way to the Top to your watch list - live of course 😃
John Farnham is our Aussie Treasure! Amazing voice, incredible stage presence and a fantastic guy. I have a play list of John that I listen to when driving 1.5 hours to see family. Recently I heard a UA-cam voice that blew me away and have added him to my playlist. So now I have John and Dan - it doesn’t get any better than those two!! Check out Dan Vasc - a metal singer that can sing anything from Amazing Grace to Toss a coin to Your Witcher and everything in between. Gethsemane, Highway to Hell, Burn butcher burn and My Heart will go on!
Thanks for listening to the comments! Everything from him & most Australian artists should be reacted to live❤
It is a cover of The Beatles song “Help”. Totally different arrangement. Spectacular. John is music royalty in Australia. We love him ❤
Great reaction to John. Looking forward to many more from you. John is the best...❤ Thanks heaps 😊
Paul McCartney said this is the way the song should always have been sung and that it was the best version of it. Watch this concert and the AC/DC “Long way to the top” John did 💜
actually it was John Lennon who said that.
@@iancremmins4727 thank you 💜
Staggeringly brilliant, more please ❤
Only ever listen to John LIVE!!! He is literally the GOAT!
John is always better live. You want to see his versatility? Searched for him doing Led Zeppelin’s Black Dog. Audio only. A live sound check from a concert in the 90’s. It only exists because one of the sound engineers hit record.
Now The Voice live from the same concert please! This is what people were talking about in your original reaction. It is on a whole new level to both Help and the studio version of the Voice.
You need to check out Cold chisel singing “ wild thing” from the last stand concert absolutely brilliant!! . Jimmy Barnes is the lead singer who also got Farnham to sing with him on “ when something is wrong with my baby”. Barnes has also had an amazing solo career after cold chisel. Huge rabbit hole for you to venture down into 👍
I loved seeing you guys getting captivated by this performance. Thankyou for checking John out. Please do more of him😊
Thank you for this wonderful reaction. We love John so much and are so happy when people discover this brilliant man with a phenomenal voice and a huge heart. Watching John perform live with his amazing band and fantastic BV’s always makes you feel good. His joy is contagious. Can’t wait to see more John.🫶🇦🇺✌️
Definitely needs to be live any time you watch him!
You can't go wrong with any performance of any song by John. His concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are the best. He has some great duets with other singers as well. I recommend "Please Don't Ask Me" with Olivia Newton John and "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" with Jimmy Barnes. He can sing any genre.
Yes please.... Olivia with John is fantastic "Please don';t ask me" ://ua-cam.com/video/2uV_tZODfK8/v-deo.html
You should check out Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham’s song “when something is wrong with my baby” live performance on hey hey it’s Saturday. Full of soul. You will enjoy. Cheers guys.
This was an encore performance at the end of a 2hr concert. I would recommend you react to John Farnham singing You're The Voice from this concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra; this was another encore performance. John Farnham is the only Australian artist to have a number-one record album or single in five consecutive decades; the only other artist to achieve this feat, was Cliff Richard.
6 consecutive decades actually - 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's
An encore with another one after this!
John wanted to learn the song on the piano and this is the only speed he could go without making mistakes. Paul McCartney said himself this was the way John Lennon intended it to sound but the record producers said it wasn’t “boppy” enough. Enjoy this rabbit hole! You keep reacting to John and the people will come! 😂
Yes, this is The Beatles classic song Help. John's version leaves off the first three lines of the song. John first performed his version in 1980, at a Royal Charity Concert in front of Queen Elizabeth II at the Sydney Opera House; John Lennon was given a copy of Farnham's version, and was heard saying "This is how the song was meant to be sung". Unfortunately, John Lennon was killed later that year; as he had intended to do his own recording of Farnham's version.
That performance is one of the encores at the end of a 2+ hour concert 1986. John F's version was released in 1980. John Lennon heard it before he passed and said that was the way the song was meant to sound. John Farnham started in 1967 and was still performing into his 70s until Covid shut the country down. He won "King of Pop" 5 consecutive years 69 -73, then faded a bit in the late 70s (due to poor management). John is the only Australian artist to have a number one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. He has received the admiration of many international artists, such as Richard Marx, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, Tom Jones, Freddie Mercury. Brian May, Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles, just to name a few. I'll drop a few links to give you a taste and warn you if you start reacting to John, the Aussie Army will flood your channel. LOL if you decide to go exploring, make sure you only watch "Live" performances, he loves his fans and millions of us love him back. He is the most down to earth person, humble, funny and extremely talented.
John is one of the most versatile vocalists you can find, he can sing just about any genre. He replaced Glen Sherrock as frontman for LRB for a time in the early eighties.
They put out a doco last year called "John Farnham - Finding The Voice" which broke the box office ("The Voice" is what he is affectionately known as here), he can sing anything and make it sound great, First the trailer...ua-cam.com/video/LocCfc5PKrE/v-deo.html

John Farnham is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Have you guys checked out John Farnham, Long way to the top, same concert with the MSO? His energy level is off the charts.😊❤️
I was third row dead center at this concert, it unbelievable night I still rank it as the best I've been to and I do try to all Aussie tours and most metal tours all of Iron Maiden.
You should listen to It’s a Long Way to the Top If You Want to Rock and Roll, an AC/DC cover by John, again with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, actually from this concert I think.
Yep. It was played in the encore after this one along with Sadie.
Always choose the live performances of John he is fantastic.
Wow, an original idea, never seen this done before.
Tina Turner was spending time in Australia during this time and absolutely loved Johns restructuring of the song, she followed suit and did her own slow take with her own vocal mannerisms.
If you like the energy and stage presence, you should catch his AC/DC cover "Long way to the top" from the same concert. Everybody in the arena is having an absolute blast.
You need too react to JOHN FARNHAM live. His cover of AC DC " Its a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll". Its better than the AC DC original with insane energy and positive vibe. to find it You tube search the following. >>>>>>. It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll)" [Live] from the 'Classic Jack Live!' DVD
Hey Guys, that is the Beatles song, but a slower ballad version and John made that his. Apparently When John Lennon heard this he said that was how they wanted to do it, but were convinced by their record company to do rocky pop version.
As Lennon said…this is the way the song was always meant to be sung. It wasn’t meant to be an upbeat ‘60’s pop song…it was meant to be a gritty plea for “Help”.
It is the Beatles’ song but started at a different point, slower, but more emotive in accordance with the meaning of the
lyrics. Farnham uses his voice to create the unique arrangement.
It’s a grown up version of the Beatles’ hit. I’m from the Boomer generation who heard all the Beatles hits when they were first released and went to the cinema to watch the Beatles’ movies. I prefer this version of Help.
Have subbed for our John, one of the greatest singers the world has never heard of. You should check out John with our other GOAT and master of Soul - Jimmy Barnes, singing When something is wrong with my baby 🥰
You got the dong right it’s just John’s interpretation. Glad you enjoyed the performance
Great to see another comment that John Lennon said this is how this song is meant to be sung. Paul McCartney has also said the same.
The Beatles wrote it and recorded it but John fixed it. John Lennon wanted to sing it this way but they didn’t have our John’s voice. You do know if you are reacting to John we just keep appearing. He is so loved, our legend and the Voice. John sold out that venue in Melbourne more than 90 times in his career and that is just one City here. The last time I saw him live was in Melbourne. Everything he sings is better live. Thank you.
Actually, they wanted to do it as a ballad, but the record co didn't allow it. Didn't fit the image they were trying to sell or something. The lyrics definitely have more power as a ballad.
Apparently this was a kinda accident. The legend goes that he was learning piano and playing it slowly and realised that it suited the song better.
Apparently Lennon said this version was how he had wanted the song to be sung - a slow ballad rather than the boppy tempo the Beatles released.
Ok so now react to the live You're The Voice from the same concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Yes I know you reacted to the studio version, never mind, just do it we Aussies won't care and you'll enjoy it more too. Australia will reward you with new subs guaranteed if you go down the John Farnham rabbit hole. Oh check out John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes doing When Something Is Wrong With My Baby after You're the Voice. It's the only studio version I prefer John doing. The atmosphere of the club, black and white, incredible chemistry of the guys and Jimmy's brother-in-law Diesel's magic guitar solo.
Same concert (with the MSO) - Cover of AC/DC It's a long way to the top, and again, same concert - Playing To Win
Please react toJohn Farnham and Jimmy Barnes - when something is wrong with my baby - live - these 2 artists are still so popular in Australia.
Its the same for INXS , they are better live as it gives great entertainers the chance to do their thing.
This is the way the Beatles wanted this song sung but they were pressured by management to make it more up beat and Poppy.
For more John Farnham check out his version of Black dog which was a sound check . Thank god a sound man hit record. Then there is all his duets . An opera with Anthony Warlow called Grenada, When Something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy barns, Please dont tell me with Olivia Newton John .
In Australia he is The voice , and one of the nicest and funniest human beings we have seen.
Most Aussies forget that Help is a Beatles song.
Inxs, Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham and Diesel are all from Australia and should be reacted to live!
If you love our John you will also love our Jimmy Barns. They are mates and sing some songs together
watch the entire concert....it'll blow you away!.....oh, n listen to him sing led zepplin's Black Dog, a song he used as a warm up!
Written by the Beatles and recording first but I think John’s vision is the best
It is the Beatles song. John just made it his own arrangement, slowing it down and turned into a completely different song
just listen to anything Australian mate. it will refresh you to hear quality music again.
Yes, it is a cover of The Beatles... John just owned it.
Check out "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" it will introduce you to another superb Aussie singer, Jimmy Barnes (lead vocalist of Cold Chisel) whilst continuing your John Farnham rabbit hole as he sings this as a duet. I am partial to the studio version and the official clip, there's also a Hey Hey It's Saturday appearance, it has live vocals and lead guitar, the rest is studio recorded (a lot of show both here and in the US seemed to want to do that, so a lot of artists just had to go along with it). I'm sure there's live versions that are amazing as Jimmy Barnes is as good if not better than Farnham in there own ways.
oh, ok.. you did the live lol. xo ^_^
His sings so many different styles: watch him and anthony warlow ' elevates to high art.' ua-cam.com/video/K6uxFKmCXB8/v-deo.htmlsi=fyaxp-a-dGAfwSoQ

It is his version of the Beatles song help
This is an INDOOR CONCERT
Better Farnham??? Gesthemane, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sydney the final night. Be awe struck
John had surgery for throat and jaw cancer. We may never hear him sing again.
I heard it didn't affect his vocal chords but I guess having his jaw changed his sound a lot. His son said he's singing around the house and whilst it would be wonderful to see him perform again I doubt it. Thank goodness for the internet where millions around the world are experiencing his amazing talent for the first time and loving
him.
@Reefsider-fq4sk I would love to see him performing again but we shall see.
At 75, and recovering from a 12 hour operation, followed by some bouts of pneumonia that sent him urgently back to hospital, sadly, I think that he may struggle to find enough energy to perform as he would want to 😢
@@LeanneAnderson-e5c I think if he could perform 1 song with others it's all anyone would ask. Even just appearing on stage and not singing would make many of us happy, he's family to all Aussies and much loved.
It is Help. McCartney said he told John that the song should have been a ballad. He was in talks to front Queen. John is just that good. But i suspect it was probably too much of a commitment for him. His nick name is whispering jack.
If you haven’t seen him doing Amazing Grace or When the War is Over, do yourself a favour.
It’s the Beatles Help redone!
This is how John Lennon wanted it to be.
This is THAT song. It’s a slower version. A better version than the original. Even John Lennon said so.
You would know the faster, original version done by the Beatles. John stripped this down & sung, what I think is a better version.
You've gotta do John singing Long way to the top (acdc). I hate to say it but he does it better.
what was the other song of his you watched
You have not started when it comes to John Farnham. I will give you a few songs that he has been singing for years if you don't love these it's then there's something wrong. John sings anything and everything and everything he sings is perfection you must always listen to him live it's the only way to hear shear magic
ACDC it's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll
Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar.
Please don't ask me with the late Olivia Newton John. When something is wrong with my baby with John Farnham and his mate Jimmy Barnes. The best version of that is one that was played on a program called Hey Hey it's Saturday That's freedom. When The war Is over.
Just a few..... Anne MacFadyen a John Can for 60 years .
