This deserves a million views man. I am in awe watching this. This is a dream to do this hike, not sure I would do it even with a helmet on at that crux. I would probably be the one turning around at that spot.
I was binging all your videos yesterday, then saw this came out today!!! Awesome content man. Not only are these fun things to watch, but you are able to show the true difficulty of these hikes which helps anyone considering doing them. Thanks for everything! Keep it up!
You are a fine UA-cam host. I don't climb or hike, but this area of the Coast Mountains always fascinated me. So many more glaciers than in the North Cascades. So beautiful. I like that unlike most hosts you address the descent. For me that would be 2x as terrifying as going up!!!! I love that you showed Aloette Lake. So gorgeous!!!!
Great videos, I went up to the meadows one year with friends on their second attempt only to be thwarted by weather...seriously steep “forest goat” territory...it took my friends 2 more attempts to finally summit...so neat to have inspiring videos of my local mountains! My aim is to do MacFarlane and Golden Ears this year (with a Gloria’s Lookout to Elk traverse as pre-training in mid May...) keep up the great footage! 👍
Yes, Robie Reid isn't really a hike considering the Class 4+- stuff. You need to rock climb. If you fall you will probably die. Not surprised it took your friends many attempts, I hear the same story from others. I was skilled/fortunate to get it done in one. Best of luck with your trip plans, stay safe out there and see you on the trails. 🙏
Wow, what a trip eh? Love everything on the video! Photography and video footage is amazing! Robie Reid is my dream hike on lower mainland, to bad I am not up to the challenge yet. Thanks for the amazing video!
Thanks for the awesome video. Very informative and detailed. I noticed you seemed to be alone so I guess you didnt bring a rope. I am an avid rock climber and never bring ropes to a scramble but just wondering about your take on that? I guess esp if I bring some non climbers.
I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a rock climber, but after going up Robie Reid, in the eyes of most people, I am one. That mountain is beyond the scramble category. Some like carrying rope with them, some pics and video I've seen people have used them up there. Some like wearing helmets too. All personal preference I think. I had the whole mountain to myself and wasn't too worried about debris getting kicked loose. I had a great time climbing my way up that class 4! Thanks Greg and stay safe out there!
@@gregdavidd No just 2 major sections are, and there is no way around it. I show both towards the end of the video on my return trip. The crack in the mountain is the crux of the trip, you have to climb that entire section and it leads into the saddle. The second section of class 4 is much shorter; the final summit block off the ridge.
Thanks for taking the time to make, produce and share this awesome video. How far can you go on this trail on a 'hiking' level and is the hiking part to the cairns steeper than Golden Ears? Thanks.
That's a good question, and tough to answer without giving you a life story. So I'll just say practice makes perfect. Also exercise and determination. Stay safe out there and see you on the trails.
How do you manage to hike with cameras, drone plus camping gear at those heights? Are you trained in hiking steep mountains? Can any novice hike this mountain Robie Reid?
You manage by being physically fit. You get trained by doing it gradually and carefully and studying authoritative books on the subject. This is an EXPERT hike.
A very beautiful view, what a reward to have that video footage and those memories. Thanks for sharing!
I'll never forget that summit!
Awesome video! Some epic shots up top.
Thanks so much 🙏
Wow!!! The drone videos are insane!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😄🙏
Great Video Mike. Glad you brought out your new Drone. Stunning views there.
Thanks for the compliments man. I'm having a great time with the new drone, as you can see! I'll never forget this adventure.
Mountain Man Mike I’ve always wanted to go there. I need to train a bit before I could do it.
We will have to do some flying sometime.
@@TheBackCountryExplorers Yes! It will happen someday.
@@TheBackCountryExplorers It's a tough one, go easy on yourself!
Nice summit footage! I'm eyeing this one late summer
Hope you enjoy it! Stay safe up there man. 🙏

Thanks so much man. Kindness and positive comments like this go a long way!!!!!
Keep going its just great. Better than a lot of hiking vlogs out there.

Thanks Joshua. I'm always trying to add new camera equipment and ideas to my work. Having a drone on this trip was amazing!

Good work, what time a year did you do it ?
Late August. This hike is best Aug-Sep. You could try July, but during a big snow year you may run into some problems.
I just found you today while researching for my own trip to EC Manning! Amazing content, Mike. You've got a new subscriber outta me (:
Cool, I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Stay safe out there and see you on the trails. ☺
Where is your hat from?
Browning. I don't think they make them anymore, as I could never find a replacement. Shame, it was my favourite..

Did you see the bird fly by your camera at 20:16 min. right when you said "...but a..." Great production. Thank you.
I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out!
Wow!! I need to be in better shape, this is inspiring...
Thanks for the kind words 🙏
I am so inspired by your amazing hiking videos! Hope I can conquer these summits one day :)
Thanks Ruihan

Thanks for sharing, what a great hike that looks like!! I will have to put that on my todo list once I'm in shape lol. Nice camera work too!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks man!

@@mountain_man_mike Thanks Mike. So you are saying it is all class 4?

All I can say is that Golden Ears is beginner and Robie Reid is expert.
Great video, congrats! Did you rappel your way down after or you downclimbed? Thank you for sharing.
I free handed everything, no rope. Stay safe out there and see you on the trails!
Great video and information on the hike, Mike! Makes me really want to buy a drone for those insane shots... haha
How did you get to the point/ level of expertise where you were able to do Mount Robie Reid?
That's a good question, and tough to answer without giving you a life story. So I'll just say practice makes perfect. Also exercise and determination. Stay safe out there and see you on the trails.
That is an incredible one.

Exercise and determination! Mount Robie Reid is for experts only... don't go there unless you know what it entails.
