***** is the 100 a book series, sorry if I sound ignorant. Also, its like the insurgent book cover, or the TFIOS book covers, they annoy me to no end, not because the movie is bad or anything, but just because if it ain't broke don't fix it
Omg yes thank you. I hate that soooo much, and I hate when I can't find the original cover like no I want the original cover not the movie cover. +Alisha Lauritsen I agree with you! Though sometimes, and this depends where in the world you live, you don't have a choice. I've had to buy a few movie covered books because that's the only way they were brought here TT (though I did buy the movie cover Hobbit book for the last movie because Bilbo kneeling down all solemn and stuff is just so awesome! ^^)

My biggest pet peeve in books is the constant unnecessary love triangles. You know, the ones that make you strongly dislike a main character cause she/he is ridiculously indecisive and is dragging along these two poor ass people for three books. Also, the story is usually full enough that you don't need this extra side plot that takes away all the badass -ery of the protagonist cause they "just can't decide what their heart wants." Like, cool. Go back to stabbing ogres in the face and maybe that'll help you figure it out cause, you know, you likely have a lot bigger fish to fry.
Yes, yes, yes and YES. HOLY SHIT. You've awoken my rage. I thought I was just being extremely picky by avoiding books with those stickers that are actually PART OF THE COVER. Like wtf mate, you're telling me I can't peel that sucker off? My book is permanently vandalised? Oh, cool, yeah, no problem. This won't bug me at all.
I think I am weird because if I read a book on my kindle or other electronic device, I have to go out and buy the physical copy and pit it with my other books even if I don't touch it for the next two years, same thing when I read a library book. I have to own the book or else I just feel weird
What I hate is similies. I do not mean just one or two but a shitload of similies shoved into a frickin paragraph. One time I read this book and it had countless metephor/simile things like this: The impatient boy with the short precisely-cut brown hair that glistened like saturated iron in the pale moonlight in space moved his swift smoothly structed hands to the lovely brown strong scented candle. LIKE WTF DO I REALLY CARE?!?!?
My pet peeve is when you have 2 out of 3 books in a series that are softcover and normal sized, and then the last one comes out and its HUGE and hardcover.
I don't know if this counts but I have a wierd feeling where I don't have the complete series I can't read it. Ugh I wanna finish the series but I can't then when I finish the book Im like NOOOOOO MORE!!
That's how I am too. It's mostly because I fear that I'm going to "fall out" of the series and so I like having the complete series before starting it. It happened to me when I was reading the Vampire Academy series and the last book wasn't out yet but I had the first five. I read them all within a week and then had to wait four months for the last one and I haven't read it yet. And the last book came out four years ago...lol
It doesn't really bother me that paperbacks aren't the same size, but I hate it when they print the same book in different sizes especially with series. I have a problem getting the last book in the Inheritance series in the same size as the other ones. I find it in the right cover, just not the same size.
Dear God. I just read a book where the main character said "I let out the breath I didn't know I had even been holding." Geez... A story pet peeve for me is love triangles and best friend relationships. I don't mind some love triangles especially if they're done well or the story revolves more around romance. Best friend relationships just annoy the crap out of me because (for the most part) they don't work out in real life! The "best friend relationship" usually happens in middle school or high school. You date for a while, realize how awkward it is, mutually break up, then go back to being besties. I see this type of couple mostly on TV, but when it happens in a book I can't stand it (with some exceptions).
That first pet peeve, the book covers' thematic artwork change in a series, really hit home with me. I take a lot of geek pride in my long relationship with the A Song Of Ice & Fire series. The first run publication editions of the 1st three books had painted scenes on them. The best being Stephen Youell's wraparound cover of Jon Snow riding through the woods, Longclaw on his hip and Ghost running behind him. But after the 3rd book (A Storm Of Swords) and the loooong 5 year wait for A Feast For Crows, the cover that it had been advertised with(with Jaime Lannister on it) was replaced by the glossy, single color, generic book jackets that all the series are published with today! It was like an added barb to my then 5 year old Red Wedding Trauma!
Kinda late to the party, but I figured I could maybe help with something. I used to work in a used bookstore and we'd get books with stickers on them ALL. THE. TIME. I hate it. For those extra-pesky stickers that just don't want to leave, go out and buy a bottle of Goo Gone. Apply it to the top of the sticker, wait a minute, then peel the sticker off (taking care not to get the Goo Gone on the pages, as it is oil-based-- not a friend to paper). They usually come off relatively easy and then just rub the remaining Goo Gone off with a kleenex. It makes them nice and smooth and even gets rid of sticker residue! Hope that helps, maybe!
what about when a book is cut/printed badly so that the words are to close to the spine so that you have to actually use force to read the book. I get hand cramps from it.........
I hate it when I can't figure out how to pronounce a character name. It distracts me from the story ever time their name comes up. Which is a lot usually
Yes I hate it! They're so rare and expensive here. Grab some from the book depository, it ships free from England and most of their hard covers are like $20-$25 :)
Thought i was the only one with these pet peeves. Also the binding of the paperbacks is'nt strong enough so if planning on re-reading your favorite book (in my case it is the sherlock holmes volumes) the pages slip out. It is really frustrating, but hardcovers in my country are way too expensive ;-;
I know this is an old video but you can get most stickers off with an alcohol wipe (you get them usually in drug department). Just gently start lifting the edge and you rub to dissolve the gummy stuff, it may take several wipes. You can guess I don't like stickers either and this works with glassware to get stickers off them too.
No dear it doesn't alcohol evaporates in a few seconds. You don't dunk them you lightly use a wipe or two. Works every time, you just don't rush it or rub too hard. By the way you should watch how you speak it makes you looks like a jerk.
I shelve books in a library as my job. Some days I feel like all I did that day was fight paperbacks that fell over. And spines that don't list the book book number in a series is the worst. Or some books in the series are labeled and others aren't. How do I even shelve that? In my personal collection, not having standard book sizes annoys me too. Or when I have a series, or books by the same author, and some are paperbacks and some are hardbacks. The fact that I know it's my own fault usually makes it worse.
6:51 Because most of the time the violence piece is more important to the plot than one swear line is. And for the sex and romance, a majority of people will get annoyed if there is too much of it that it takes over the plot . That's probably why
One thing I started doing for when books don't have the number is I check the year it was copyrighted. The older the copyright year, the earlier it is in the series. Or look it up online.
Barnes & Noble's evil security stickers that leave that horrible goopy residue. Luckily both the sticker and residue are easily removed but hair dryer for the sticker and an eraser for the goop.
My biggest pet peeve to date is that my City of Bones copy says to check out the other books in the Mortal Instruments TRILOGY. Haha, yeah, ok, that trilogy turned into a six book mess of a saga. It still frustrates me.
i just read city of glass and it said final book in the trilogy and i was like wait am i trippin i thought the next book was city of fallen angels...i wasnt trippin haha
Mine is kind of an odd one, and considering no one can seem to write a decent book without one these days, it also makes for buying books really, really difficult, I HATE love triangles, or love squares as they make them sometimes, with a passion. I just can not stand it when a book is meant to be about the eternal love and fight for love of two people, but all of a sudden something goes wrong and she ends up sharing siliva or more with some dude thats been drooling over her the whole book..WTF?! I know love is a complicated and sometimes painful shitpile of emotion and its hard to understand or control..but christ pick one and stick with them for fuck sakes. Its like nothing can exist now adays without there being two (or more) completely hot guys fighting over this whiny, selfish little child who thinks she looks like the back end of homer simpson's asshole. Ugh they just get me so annoyed.
hiya kat :) i just wanted to comment to say that your videos really helped me feel a sense of belonging when i was a lonely and insecure teenager. i turned 23 last week, and to cope with the way the world is changing, i like to watch videos that remind me of simpler times. this one included! i found so much solace in books and in people who talked about them. i read a lot less now- i don’t need as much escape as i did back then (a good thing). all this to say, i hope life is treating you well and that you’re on exciting new paths :) i’ll always be grateful for the time you spent making videos and if you decide to again, we’ll be here to watch. lots of love
The one I hate the most is the height! But mostly because, at least in Argentina, they change the height of books from the same saga!! They just suddenly change them and it looks HORRIBLE and AWFUL and I just want to pull my hair out! (same as when they change the direction -from top to bottom to bottom to top- of the tittle on the joint)
I dislike the fact paperbacks can't stand on their own. Every time i'm re-organizing or just taking a series out to look at and all my other books just fall over and then i have to waste time to get they to stand up so i can put back the books and it's just annoying, especially if you own mostly paperbacks like i do.
PS the swearing thing could just be the author's preferences, like if i were to ever write a book i wouldn't have swearing simply because i don't swear, so maybe it's something like that..
4:24 - Oh I know this SOOOOO well! I reorganize my books like 3 times a week, offten late at night, and everytime at least one book falls and it makes loud noise, or I want to put many books at the spot and while I do it one of the books that is allready standing there is falling on the place where I want to put the books, so I have to put the books somewhere, fix the book that fell, and try again...
I hate paperbacks so much. I went to the store to get cinder in hardback and they only had it in paper back!! That wasn't even the worst part the front cover was shorter width wise then the rest of the book pages so you could see part of the first page sticking out like what the actual fuck!!! It bugged me so much I don't even know why and I hate when you buy a book that is supposed to be brand new or you get it delivered and is already damaged or bend up! Like no that is not okay with me.
The one about the I let out the breath I didn't know I had been holding is in the book legend by Marie Lu. And I watched this video before and I can't stop seeing this when I read books. It's absolutely hilarious.
ME! I let someone borrow a goosebumps book for a few days and a few days later they say they will give it to me tomorrow. Next day they say they'll give it to me tomorrow. The next day they say this..."I'm so sorry but I lost your book a few days ago".. (wait for it)...AHHHHHH!! You have got to be kidding me!
Yes exactly.. Or the dust jacket has a huge bend on it.. That's why I lend books without the dust jacket. Also less incentive for the "friend" to not give it back. Last year I lent my The Infinite Sea to my "friend" and she kept "forgetting it" at home so after 2 months I just said fuck it and let her keep it lol.
My biggest physical pet peeve is when, what could easily be a sticker, is printed on the cover. I recently bought the TMI books and all of them have a big oval on them telling me there's a City of Bones movie. Also, for some reason, the Clockwork Princess paperback book in TID is the same size as a hardback :/
Just a Bookaholic And then when you peel them off, some of the cover rips off too and there's a big white mark at the side of the cover AAAAAAHHHH! I have three books like that, and I refuse to read them because of it lol.
Lucy Fangirl Walker oh my gosh, yes I hate that! I have a system now though, I can get the stickers and price tags off now without damaging the cover. lol
Usually there is a list of other books in the series in order on one of the first few pages- that makes it easier to put them in order when re-organising your shelves. However, I’ve ruined a few books when in bookstores, picking up a later book in a series I’ve not started yet by mistake.
Story pet peeves: Main character falls for the cliched "bad boy." HNNNNGGGGGGH WHY NOT THE BOY THAT'S BEEN YOUR BEST FRIEND FOR LIKE EVER AND TREATS YOU LIKE YOU'RE HUMAN?????!!!!!! City of Bones is a GREAT example. If there's a love triangle, please make smart choices. Gawsh.
For stickers, steaming the spot where the sticker is on the dust jacket can melt the adhesive without damaging the ink on the jacket. Be careful not to steam too long with paperbacks. Any other ideas for paperbacks?
Omg! I have all these pet peeves 😀 changing the covers half way through a series totally pisses me off, especially when they change it again! Totally throws my ocd over the edge
I do hate when they're not labeled in order but instead of reading the back and ruining it for yourself, just google "'series X' in order" and I guarantee there will be a list. Yes to the stickers! I hate when there are stickers on my books and they're always the stickers that don't peel easily!! Argh! Most annoyingly horrible book name: Renesmee. Gross.
I just look at the back and usually it will say "Praise for (First Book in the Series)" if its not the first book, or in the first few pages they will list the order the books go in
Some of my pet peeves are: 1) When there are always love triangles! Always!!! Just please stop why can't it just be two lovers just two!!!! 2) When one book is too small or a different size than the others! Just no! 3) When a book doesn't have the number like book 2 or 4 and I have to open and look for the year of release and look for the oldest book! I ain't got time for that crap!!! 4) Stickers just no please stop it I can't take them off! 5) When the main characters best friend is in love with them or vice versa and they always tell them once they've fallen in love with someone else like in THE most inopportune time!! Jesus
My bookish pet peve: When the book is being made into a movie (I bet you know this) and they don't follow the book corectly. Like brah I've been waiting for this movie for ever and you just change the whole book.. Ahhh!!
Dude, preach! I hate how our culture is so snooty about swearing and sex (which generally speaking are just healthy parts of human nature), but horrendous violence is a-okay
I actually hate the book falling because i have seires on each shekf and when the seires isnt finished and theres a space there and the books fall over and its really annoying
#2 - *coughPRETTYLITTLELIARScough* seriously that series has freaking sixteen books but no numbers??? And go to goodreads, don't look at the synopsises!!!
katy when you talked about the numbers to be on the cobers of the books i remembered that i boght 3 books (they only haved those 3) of a 4 book series and they did not have the numbers on the covers so i ended up geting the second, third and forth book not the first book but the rest of the series
cover changes bums me out too coz i wanna what cover will they come up next. for anna and the french kiss series/companion i wanna know what the third cover would be like. i'm not crazy with the front covers but i just love how the book spines for it :) although i'm loving the paperback covers too since they all match i'll surely purchase all 3. i usually dont have a problem with cover changes that much since i buy them all and start reading when they are complete so yeah.
i get frustrated with books falling too haha. i organise my shelves by genre and obviously sometimes the genre doesnt fill the whole shelf. so now i have a space and the paperback on the end always falls over -.- whyyy
I absolutely understand your frustration with soft cover books falling. I work at a library and it's awful to be moving books on a shelf (especially a top shelf) and have half of the books come tumbling down on you.
The not labeling of which book in a series is which got me once. For my english class a few years ago we had required reading days, and had to go to the school library to pick out a book. I was looking at Pandemonium, from the Deliruim series, and nothing on the cover gave the hint that it was the second book in the series so I got it, and as I was reading I slowly started figuring out that it was the second book and I was so upset because I had ruined the series. I did go back and read Deliruim though, but I never went on with the series.
God, I never noticed 'I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding' but now that you have mentioned it. I notice it in like every book I read >.< lol
For e stickers that you can peel off if you just kind of breath on the stickers while slowly peeling them off most of the time it won't leave any residue behind
The City of Bones movie stickers actually peel off pretty easy. I took mine off my copy of CoB and it didn't even leave that sticky residue that sometimes get left behind.
OMG The book number thing is a huge one for me. I discovered the Iron Druid Chronicles awhile back. The books are amazing, but the titles are all one word and the covers are super similar. Even now, when I go back through the series, I have to look up which books come before which ones. UGH!
I recently orderd the third book of the Chaos walking series by Patrick Ness, and once deliverd i was stumped to find it was completely diffrent in size and appearance to the first and second. I will admit it was a georgious copy but when looking at my shelve it is odded out by it's neighbors. Better example is it's the size of a small Game of thrones paperback. Shipped from the UK. I'm quite tempted to just order the first and second again but in UK version. It's irritating seeing it umatched! Ah the horror!
I have this problem of reading the first book to a series then reading another first book to another series up until I am left with a million first books and then having to read all of their sequels and so on. It get's confusing and frustrating because I sometimes don't know where to start off.
the cover thing annoys me to. When I bought Mistborn they had a special edition for the first one but not for the others. So now I have one book with a different cover
“It looks shit on my shelves and it pisses me off” was the line that spoke to me the most. Like it just resonated with me so well because it’s how I constantly feel inside with cover changes.
I agree with you on most of these especially the one on cover changes. I also hate it when I have every book so far in the series in paperback and then a new one is released only in hardback. What's really annoying about that is they are usually different sizes. I hate that.
I have to agree with the sticker pet peeve because oh my god it is so annoying. I recently went on book depository and ordered the rest of the TMI and TID series (6 books in total). All of them came with the huge sticker in the most awkward places. I now own Clockwork Princess with a sticker right on Tessa's neck. So annoyed!
I got the first 3 books in the Jaz Parks saga (or what ever it is called) and I couldn't figure out which one goes first. Long story short I sat them down and was just glimpsed over and noticed they are numbered on the spine......
As someone working in a bookstore, one of my biggest book pet peeves is die cut covers! (When there's a cut-out section of the cover/dustjacket.) Aaarrgh! Sure, it looks good in concept. But books live on shelves! With other books! And inevitable a book catches on that cut out and tears the cover/dustjacket. Whhyyyy
i seriously love you. and i TOTALLY agree with you! on every single thing. especially the matching covers thing, the numbering the books thing, and the glossing over sex & swearing thing. those piss me off! A lot. haha
I also hate dust jackets on hard covers. They half slip off, the edges get bent, they are too big and fall off... They're the reason I pretty much only buy paperbacks (and because they're cheaper...)
Paperback books falling over fills me with rage too!! I was moving my books around the other day, and it kept doing it and I did the same as you and basically insulted the book for it. But it just creates a domino effect on the rest of them.
Yeah, I know the feeling of not seeing the books marked on which number it is. In fact, I actually read the third book of one series and the second book of another series. I was so lost. That's why I use Goodreads. It helps.
another cliché phrase: My heart was beating so loud I wondered if s/he could hear it.
YES! FINALLY SOMEONE WHO CAN SEE THAT TOO!!!
OH MY GOSH
OKAY OKAY OKAY BUT WHAT ABOUT WHEN YOU HAVE A NUMBERED SERIES BUT ONE OF THE BOOKS' NUMBERING ISN'T ON THE SAME SPOT ON THE SPINE???
YES!!!!
yES
yes
Berwald Oxenstierna sweden yes

I absolutely hate the movie poster as the book's cover. Why? You had beautiful artwork already there and you decide to replace it to a movie poster that's not even good?
I lent my friend a book once and said "if you wreck it you're buying me a new one" guess who got a new book ;)
Why does no one ever mention movie covers on books?! I won't buy them. Ever.

Anybody else hate when you're reading a paperback... and the cover bends back... AND WON'T GO BACK!!! Or when the spine breaks!! WHEN IT BREAKS IT'S LIKE IT'S BREAKING ME!!! #teamhardback
Macey Johnson I have to agree with that. BOOK YOU ARE EVIL!
Macey Johnson well you should watch Ariel Bissets new vid ANOTATING IN YOUR BOOKS.
OR WHEN A PAPER BACK GETS TO BENT AND IT HAS WHITE LINES WHERE U BENT IT #teamhardcoverftw
+Macey Johnson So true I always put a heavy book on top of the paperback I'm reading so it goes back to normal lol
+Jeannie Weasly Oh, yes, that happens all the time. Why do hardcovers have to be so expensive?
LIFE HACK: To get stickers off books, USE A BLOW DRYER TO HEAT THE STICKER THEN PEEL IT OFF. yay!
THANK YOU
OF COURSE FELLOW BOOK NERD
YOU'RE AMAZING
I have been told
YOU ARE THE BEST HUMAN BEING EVER!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!
I HATE when they don't mark what number the book is in the series. But I will NEVER read the synopsis, I just look it up online lol.

Sounds like my life lul. I just love everyone.

Yes, yes, yes and YES. HOLY SHIT. You've awoken my rage. I thought I was just being extremely picky by avoiding books with those stickers that are actually PART OF THE COVER. Nicole Drees read it! you're missing out
It's even worse when you don't realise you haven't got the first book, after buying 2or 3 at once,.... because they aren't numbered!
Am I the only one who actually prefers paperback books instead of hard cover?
+Overly Obsessed I definitely prefer paperbacks.
Same
I just like paperback cuz its easier to travel with
+Overly Obsessed Just about every book I receive or buy is paperback, mainly because I don't see the need to pay more for a harder cover.
+Overly Obsessed No!
It doesn't really bother me that paperbacks aren't the same size, but I hate it when they print the same book in different sizes especially with series.
'It looks like shit on my shelves and it pisses me off'
Totally unrelated, but you REALLY remind me of Alyson Hannigan (Lily from How I Met Your Mother/Willow from Buffy)
YES especially with that hair
Everything about her reminds me of Alyson. Of course the red hair but also also her eyes, facial expressions, voice, the way she talks, etc.
yes!! definitely, i thought the lily one too
Me too!!
That's the first thing I thought when I clicked on this video, and I'm so glad it wasn't just me
"go home, you're drunk. BOOK!"
I'm laughing so hard oh my god
When book characters fall in love way to fast
Or when The author decides that to suddenly throw a love intrest in
I hate the stickers one too, especially when you try to rip it off, and you can't even rip all of it off. making it worse.
In Australia it is so hard to find hardcovers. they are literally so rare. And when you do find one, they are like $30-$40
Move to America!
Yes I hate it! They're so rare and expensive here. Grab some from the book depository, it ships free from England and most of their hard covers are like $20-$25 :)
yeah I know but even then its still expensive. Australia is so expensive
+vicki love yeah very true, everything here is expensive
Thought i was the only one with these pet peeves. Also the binding of the paperbacks is'nt strong enough so if planning on re-reading your favorite book (in my case it is the sherlock holmes volumes) the pages slip out. It is really frustrating, but hardcovers in my country are way too expensive ;-;
Lmao I love you! 😂😂 "Thats not coming off without a fight!"
Then you're fucking book smells like alcohol. Thanks publishing companies, your ruin readers lives... and books.
No dear it doesn't alcohol evaporates in a few seconds. You don't dunk them you lightly use a wipe or two. Works every time, you just don't rush it or rub too hard. By the way you should watch how you speak it makes you looks like a jerk.
I always hate when paper back covers bend or how the edges start to peel off
I shelve books in a library as my job.
I am literally in love with your book shelf. :O All the books...its like a beautiful rainbow...
6:51 Because most of the time the violence piece is more important to the plot than one swear line is.
And for the sex and romance, a majority of people will get annoyed if there is too much of it that it takes over the plot . That's probably why
But when the romance part is a big part in the story, it will get as much detail as the fighting
One thing I started doing for when books don't have the number is I check the year it was copyrighted. The older the copyright year, the earlier it is in the series. Or look it up online.
good idea!!
That's such a good idea :) you've saved me xD
+Ariza Romero There is something called google or goodreads.
+kittyyourock I'm pretty sure I included that in my original comment tho...
Do booksellers every think of putting sticks on the inside cover?? *mind blown*
FRICKIN STICKERS MAN I HATE THOSE
I can see that on ur face.
*****
he is amazing
Barnes & Noble's evil security stickers that leave that horrible goopy residue. Luckily both the sticker and residue are easily removed but hair dryer for the sticker and an eraser for the goop.
Or things that looks like a sticker printed on the book😡😡
One I have is buying books only in their original cover (not the movie one) I physically can't buy a book with the movie cover on it.
Nice to have an agreed opinion :)
Sinead O'Reilly
Haha, love square. I've never had a love square before. I don't plan to. That's sounds dreadful
I despise love triangles. It's always obvious who will be the chosen biatch
A) i completely agree with everything you just said. and B) I WANT YOUR BOOK SHELF!!!
THANK YOU FOR THE STICKERS ONE! I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE IT PISSES ME OFF SO BADLY
hiya kat :) i just wanted to comment to say that your videos really helped me feel a sense of belonging when i was a lonely and insecure teenager. i turned 23 last week, and to cope with the way the world is changing, i like to watch videos that remind me of simpler times. this one included! i found so much solace in books and in people who talked about them. i read a lot less now- i don’t need as much escape as i did back then (a good thing).
all this to say, i hope life is treating you well and that you’re on exciting new paths :) i’ll always be grateful for the time you spent making videos and if you decide to again, we’ll be here to watch. lots of love
surprised you didn't mention the publishers annoying habit of not spell checking and having grammar errors
That one sentence in all YA books... It's sooooo true. Now I'm going to think of this every time I read that sentence.
I am so OCD about books. When I move out of my parents' house, I am rebuying ALL of my books so that they're all new and amazing and beautiful!!
PS the swearing thing could just be the author's preferences, like if i were to ever write a book i wouldn't have swearing simply because i don't swear, so maybe it's something like that..
happend to me but the whole series fell 😟
Does anyone else hate, when you lend a book to a friend and they destroy it and then say they "it was like that before you gave it to me"🤔"oh really😠
Hate stickers so much, I have to peel them off because they annoy me so bad.
STICKERS ARE EVIL!
I have a system now though, I can get the stickers and price tags off now without damaging the cover. lol
Just a Bookaholic Lucky haha. :)
You can get them off without damaging covers?! Please share omg I have the biggest struggle with the stickers
Usually there is a list of other books in the series in
order on one of the first few pages- that makes it easier to put them in order
when re-organising your shelves. However, I’ve ruined a few books when in
bookstores, picking up a later book in a series I’ve not started yet by
mistake.
Next time you organize an unfamiliar series, try using the original publication date.
Gross.
I just look at the back and usually it will say "Praise for (First Book in the Series)" if its not the first book, or in the first few pages they will list the order the books go in
Some of my pet peeves are:
1) When there are always love triangles!
Jesus
My bookish pet peve:
When the book is being made into a movie (I bet you know this) and they don't follow the book corectly. Like brah I've been waiting for this movie for ever and you just change the whole book.. Ahhh!!
Percy Jackson and Insurgent
Daniella Roque Maze Runner, Harry Potter, ect.
Goo gone can help with the stickers if you are careful about it. It gets the sticky junk off.
#2 - *coughPRETTYLITTLELIARScough*
seriously that series has freaking sixteen books but no numbers???
And go to goodreads, don't look at the synopsises!!!
katy when you talked about the numbers to be on the cobers of the books i remembered that i boght 3 books (they only haved those 3) of a 4 book series and they did not have the numbers on the covers so i ended up geting the second, third and forth book not the first book but the rest of the series
Ganzee? reminds me of a character from homestuck...
PFF I *knew* I wasn't the only one who thought that
That's what I thought, too! XD
+That one guy *Gansey. And thanks for that, now I won't be able to unsee it.
cover changes bums me out too coz i wanna what cover will they come up next. for anna and the french kiss series/companion i wanna know what the third cover would be like. i'm not crazy with the front covers but i just love how the book spines for it :) although i'm loving the paperback covers too since they all match i'll surely purchase all 3. i usually dont have a problem with cover changes that much since i buy them all and start reading when they are complete so yeah.
"I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding." I laughed so hard at how true this is XD
i get frustrated with books falling too haha. i organise my shelves by genre and obviously sometimes the genre doesnt fill the whole shelf. so now i have a space and the paperback on the end always falls over -.- whyyy
The numbering thing came into play when someone got me.the third and first of a series.
use a blowdryer to heat up the sticker for around 30 seconds and then take it off. it just slides off easily :)
OMG The book number thing is a huge one for me. I discovered the Iron Druid Chronicles awhile back. The books are amazing, but the titles are all one word and the covers are super similar. Even now, when I go back through the series, I have to look up which books come before which ones. UGH!
What i do with that sticky residue, use the same sticker and using a quick plucking like motion over it and it removes it quite easily
In the UK you can get the pretty Shades of Earth cover in paperback and hardback!! :)
It get's confusing and frustrating because I sometimes don't know where to start off.
yep I can relate to the sticker peeve. When I take it off, it leaves some of the sticky stuff behind
the cover thing annoys me to. When I bought Mistborn they had a special edition for the first one but not for the others. So now I have one book with a different cover
“It looks shit on my shelves and it pisses me off” was the line that spoke to me the most. Like it just resonated with me so well because it’s how I constantly feel inside with cover changes.
Those stickers tho. omg. A pet peeve of mine is dust jackets. they move and come off while i'm reading the book and ugh.
Whhyyyy
When I try to put my unmarked books together, I check the copywriter dates. If they were made within the same years of each other,it doesn't work
i seriously love you. and i TOTALLY agree with you! on every single thing. especially the matching covers thing, the numbering the books thing, and the glossing over sex & swearing thing. those piss me off! A lot.
It helps.
Those TMI movie stickers come off perfectly
