    Father died before 25th birthday. Knew him my whole 24 years. Good guy. Mom had custody of me and my sister but we stayed in contact a lot up until he died. Never hated him.

    I’ve never seen Omar in this light before. Let me correct myself, I’ve never “seen” him ever. I know the characters he plays but I never knew “him”. I’m so glad he turned out well regardless of how he started out 🙌🏾

    I loved my father to pieces and am grateful that he was in my life the years that he was alive. Fathers are soooo instrumental to the development of their kids...thats a topic that I hope more people in our community continue to speak about. That void is unexplainable. Ive seen what it can do to people. Sometimes though... its not always easy. They can be pushed away to the point of no return, as crazy as that sounds. I love conversations like these, this is real life.

    Deep deep deep. This is why I never gave up on my pops. Living in the same house, but from age 13-26 we didn’t really have a relationship. Sure if I got caught doing something of course he’d chime in, but I didn’t respect it because any other time I didn’t feel no love. Now we’re both older and close.

    I can relate. I found out at 28 my father wasn’t my birth dad, and my sister was the one who told me. She just had a conversation with a cousin on my dads side that thought we all knew. Just blew me away. I was devastated as the man was on his way to my house for Thanksgiving dinner. Him and my mom had just divorced and even at 28 that hit me hard. Now to find out he wasn’t my birth dad… I was crushed. My sister begged me not to say anything, to my mom or my dad… and I’m 60 this July and still haven’t said anything. The older I get the harder it is to ask my mom.. the man who raised me passed away at 59, the same age I am now, my mom is 76.. I want to ask but I feel like I’d hurt her by asking, she’s hid it all these years. I just want to know, just because deep down inside everybody wants to know where they come from. Won’t hurt if I never ask, but my heart has a pain there that’s dull, but it’s their still. I’ve had a great life overall, can’t complain.. I just related to this video, I was all ears. I’m proud to be a black man, struggles and all.

      There is nothing wrong with wanting to ask Mommy about your birth father...she may be more than willing to finally break her silence and talk to you about it. This is definitely not an easy subject to talk about but you have the right to know. Transparency, love and forgiveness is needed here family. Neither you or Mommy need to leave this world not having that conversation. One Love.

      You gotta realize back then it wasn’t spoken about, also any man that comes and feels that void is your father. They probably understood he wasn’t a good look in your life. But don’t wait to ask those questions time is short and you have to be complete when it’s your time. Respect and blessing on to you.

    This is nice how he moved forward regarding his father…
    *Ive seen fathers live in the same town / neighborhood and not be in their child lives* ! In this day and age there are lots of advocacy programs for men regarding all things “their children” . Learning this I now know and understand there’s no excuse for a parent to not have a relationship with their children.

    Real talk, I felt where everything and everyone was going with this fatherhood topic. My pops passed away really young, for myself could not remember him because I was an infant when my mom and pops divorced. As a young man I desperately wanted to know more about my father. My mother would frequently tell me just how much I resembled my father. I have A older sister and brother, in which I located online. I ask them questions about my father, to learn more about him.Before I met them online, felt like I was always fantasizing what things would have been like knowing him.As a young Black man I felt a large void in my life, spiritually and emotionally I was back wreck. Many of our Black fathers aren't present in the lives of our sons and sisters. Being present for as many precious moments makes a large difference in the upbringing of our lives. We need to do better than financially provide for our children. Tech about Love, the Bible,birds and the bees and education.

      Some times it's the mothers of the children and not the fathers. I didn't understand until I had my own child. The mother of your child and your baby's mama are two different things. Unfortunately for me I have a baby mama

    • @Watchingvideoslikeu
      @Watchingvideoslikeu 2 роки тому +4

      Stop the excuses. A baby mom can’t stop you from seeing your child. You can get visitation through the court system. There are so many legal protections for non custodial parents. The truth of the matter that no one wants to say out loud is a lot of non custodial parents just don’t feel like it. Which is fine to admit but don’t be adding all this salt and pepper to that word soup you wrote.

    This broke me! This helped me to really start the healing! This was an important conversation. It's funny in life when you get sat down and your health is not what you wanted to be that you realize you had it good. Because you have that open space in your heart a void more or less that you have not come to terms with and you didn't get the send or the goodbye that you needed you can wallow in sorrow and pain for years! When you face your own mortality there is an opening in your heart and your mind that you can fill with love and you can begin to heal! The way I grew up my brothers/ homeboys we were like fathers to each other! This may seem very random but Will Smith and that slap woke me up!¡! It woke me up to the reality that I've lived both of their lives but I also remember living like an Immortal! Never worry about physical death that's going to happen, your spirit / soul is eternal get back to your foundation! I hope that this message helps somebody! I know it helped me.. now it's time to stand strong! Peace! Thank you math, Omar, and my man Big Daddy Kane always been a favorite of mine it's fitting that he would be present at a revival! Peace to the fearless fantastic foursome!
