Excellent video! I read about this technique from one of my knitting reference books but it’s a greater pleasure to see how it’s done on video. Thank you for providing real, quality knitting instruction to us hardcore knitters, who are sick & tired of silly videos about, “how to make the knit stitch”, or, “ how to make a seed stitch headband”. This is real knitting for us knitters who are far beyond the basics. Thank you!
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! It's my first time knitting a Setesdal sweater and I was unsure about this step of the pattern because the instructions weren't clear but your video has made it so easy to understand. Thank you again, you're a fantastic teacher!
Hi! Great to hear that you like the videos =) One alternative is doing it like this: ua-cam.com/video/LtRjO2l9ZAM/v-deo.html About handstitching, I don't concider myself qualified to give a good answer, but if I were to guess it would be difficult to make the stitches tight enough to secure the yarn. I know some people crochet along the edge, but have never done it myself. Maybe that is a possibility. Before I got my own sewing machine, I used to go to to my grandmother to use hers, maybe you know someone who can lend you theirs for five minutes =)?
@@bergofnorway ok thanks! I think my Nan is gonna help me. With regards to the 3 stitch bind off do we turn our jumpers inside out and use an additional needle to bind the shoulders together?
Hi can I ask if I can use steeking to make a neckhole in a semicircle shawl so I can wear it like a cloak? Like I've already knitted it, but if I wanted to cut it to form a neckline can I use steeking or would it ruin the knit.
You can use steeking. Just be careful where you draw the neckline so that you get the shape and symmetri. As long as it is symmetrical you have a good chance the result will look good. And machinesew twice!

Hi! So happy that the video is helpful! Thank you!
thank you. I think I will use this to save a very poorly thought-out neckline
You are very welcome! So happy to hear that the video is helpful! Hope you managed to save your sweater =)
Thank you for such a clear easy to follow video. The yarn you are using looks really soft and must be a pleasure to knit with. Kindest regards.
Hi! Thank you for your comment! Happy to hear that you like the video =) You are spot on about the yarn. It is called Falk and is made by Dale.
This was a really helpful tutorial, thank you.
You are very welcome! Happy to hear that you like it =)
Wonderful demonstration. I will use this technique on the vest I am knitting.
How great to hear that you like the video =)
Excellent video! I haven't got a sewing machine, do you think hand stitching is sufficient? We need more knitting Instructionals like yours!

Great! Yes you turn it inside out and use an additional needle. I have a video for that too if you need to see example =)
Thank you
You are very welcome =)
The only trouble is, there is less stretch to get the garment over your head which will stress the steek..
That is right! Even though the back half is nice and stretchy one must make sure the neck opening is not made too small =)
I love this sweater. Is this pattern available?
Hi! How Nice to hear! It is available on ravelry, the Pattern is called frostnatt 😊
