Man I've loved that song forever! Thank you Anthony for breaking it down so perfectly. Your playing is great, never heard anyone attempt to cover it. Tone is spot on too.
Greetings from Sydney! Had a guitar teacher when I was 13 (44 years ago!) who was a huge JW nut. He taught me this tune and i still play it a lot! Love the tone from that LP
Man, I haven’t watched any of your instructional videos in a year or longer. I absolutely love the SRV videos in the past (and present?). I just happened upon this Johnny Winter song and absolutely fell in love. He is a monster, along with his brother. I look forward to trying out this lesson when I get home from vacation. Love you man!!!! From another Anthony, Anthony Phillips!
This is freakin excellent..! I was just sitting here and accidentally started playing this song… but you’ve given me all the nuances..! Gotta put em on the fretboard now. ! Yeah.! Thanks man..🔥👍🏼
Thanks! Terrific lesson. Been wanting to learn this for years. And it's just standard tuning, yeah? I always assumed Johnny had tuned to open A. Thanks again!
Love your stuff, I subscribed a while back, moved way down to Mexico past Belize. Love to hear your lesson on Jesus just left Chicago or Blue Jeans Blues. Any Gatemouth song
Yes. I was going to post this. There's a video of an extended version of this where he is defiantly in open A. It's from 1971, Tommy Shannon on bass, Turner on drums.
Johnny was a MONSTER PLAYER. His tune Memory Pain is a clinic in blues palying.
Love the lesson, love Johnny. More, please!
I can make that happen.

Greatest song Johnny written. The live version on Live And is just amazing slide guitar.
Long live Johnny Winter! Cheers from the Micronesia Blues Society on the island of Guam.
Johnny Winter was a genius. Great video. Thanks.
Wow excellent job teaching. I picked it right up. Thank you and without tab thats a first for me

Indeed he was.
OMG! I've wanted you to do a Johnny Winter lesson for SO LONG!
"OMG" 🤦🏻♂️
This is the coolest thing ever, many thanks.
This is amazing, thank you. It's sounds like you're using a slide but it's just your fingers. A musical magician.
Great lesson. He definitely had attitude and swagger. RIP Johnny
SO SUPER!!!!!!! My Favorite Song of his!!!!!
it's a nice way to play it in standard tunning. I'm working on it both tunning standard and Open A. Thx a lot Man !
Nice. Looking forward to checking out the lesson! I'm a big Johnny Winter fan.

A lesson with your Les Paul! Thank you!
Very nice! I've been looking for a good way to play this in standard tuning (I believe Johnny used Open A). Well done, sir.

Love this right here! Thank you!
Great stuff! Thanks!
Very well explained.

My favorite Johnny Winter tune. He played it at Woodstock.
Nice job Anthony
Thanks! Terrific lesson. Been wanting to learn this for years. And it's just standard tuning, yeah? I always assumed Johnny had tuned to open A. Thanks again!
He probably did, but I wasn't going to do that.
Love your stuff, I subscribed a while back, moved way down to Mexico past Belize. Love to hear your lesson on Jesus just left Chicago or Blue Jeans Blues. Any Gatemouth song
Excellent ! Merci
EXCELLENT.
your guitar sounds good bro
Amazing guitar wizardry. However, Johnny sings in counterpoint while playing this. Unreal!!!!
More Johnny the better.
Kinda reminds me of zz tops "beer drinkers and hell raisers" using the open A
Who is the most important Texas guitarist out of Johnny Winter, S.R.V. , ZZ Top ????????
Did Johnny Winter really play this in standard tuning?
This is reminiscent of Mississippi Hill Music
hypno-driven rhythm
Thanks good lesson. I play it in open G what is your tuning
Standard
I thought JW played this tune in Open A ?
He probably did. But I never play slide so I taught it in standard tuning.
You have the right notes but the song is in open A, you can hear the open strings in the main riff.
Great job man! Song tempo is a bit faster on the record though
I thought he played it in open A tuning.
He actually did.
Just have a look at the woodstock footage and it becomes clear.
Didn’t Johnny play this in Open A tuning because of his slide playing?
There’s a pretty good chance that he did, but most people don’t play slide.
Yes. I was going to post this. There's a video of an extended version of this where he is defiantly in open A. It's from 1971, Tommy Shannon on bass, Turner on drums.
🤙🤙
“structure” is called Arrangement
loses its balls in standard tuning.
sing it mo fo
This is actually played in open E. This allows for the slide work.
