If you have more aircraft types, its best to let high-level bombers attack first (bow-stern or vice versa), then dive bombers (any angle), and torpedo bombers as last (chance is they will attack damaged ships whose speed is low or even stationery, ofcourse from 90deg angle against their side(s))...
That 100m attack of B17 against battleships was a complete murder... theyre damn big and attacking from such low altitude, they draw every flak around to them and are so big that it's hard to miss them... And dividing them between 3 battleships is way way overly optimistic, they MAYBE (if used properly) could have sunk one of them, with luck. Scratching 3 of them is worth nearly nothing.
