Uhh lets see, The fastest way to kill it is to strike at angles that make all of your pellets land. Before breaking the horns, I make sure to land only headshots. Since slime tolerance builds up, it's easier to break the horns if you focus on them purely in the beginning. Afterwards I angled my shots up before I released them so that all of the pellets would hit the body. Aside from that make sure you eat for felyne pyro to increase your slime even further. A sleep bomb can also go a long way.
If you must use the Kelbi Deershot, then I recommend using the Gigginox X armor if you find yourself getting hit by his dragon attacks a lot, or the Helios/Selene X armor otherwise. Gemming in Bombardier and eating for Felyne Pyro are a must. I find evade extender to also be rather useful against him if you can work that in.
His charm is godly and probably un-attainable to all of us. He must have twinked his charm table to get that or got incredibly lucky landing on that table when he made his hunter. Most ppl don't even know what a charm table is.
No, his head just takes slightly more damage than the rest of his body. It was just a habit I had of shooting the weakspots :-x. It's not necessary on Alatreon since he takes pitiful shot damage.
Lol don't be fooled, the elemental resistances are bad enough that I'm in constant fear of getting 1-shot. His fireball and lightning claw both 1-shot me, and the lightning claw comes out fast.
Any advice on what armor I should use as a Rank 40 hunter against this thing? (I just switched from the Dios LS to the Deershot and need gunner advice :/)
how the heck did you get awaken on that set? =x I've got a evade +1 bombardier awaken focus tenderizer set but it's completely different, it depends much more on Lagia X =/

Thanks, Alatreon is one of my favorite monsters. I've killed him 130 times in MH3U, and about 100 in MH3.

Thanks, the bow is my second favorite weapon in MH3U ^_^ The first being the SnS, but it's not particularly good in fights like these.

ChaCha has the idol mask, it doesn't really last long but it's a free farcaster which I sometimes use. Kayamba has the ultimate mask.

I'm using the Armor Skill Focus. It allows you to charge your bow 20% faster.

i just tried it for the 3rd time (not using any g equipment) and cut off its tail and got 2 azure dragon gems... not quite certain how
