    Tony, I’m another one of your viewers who is glad to see you posting again. I actually own this lens. I got super lucky. I purchased it from a retired photographer who sold it to me about 5 years ago at a very reasonable price. I love this lens. It’s big and heavy but well worth the weight in my bag! Some of my own favorite images have also been made with this lens. I actually used this very lens this morning, and seeing your review of it was a great way to end this evening.

    Hello Tony,
    First of all, I want to thank you for all the information in all your videos. I was looking to buy the Nikon Nikkor 150mm SW but it is really expensive, instead I got the Schneider Super Angulon 165mm f8 with an image circle of 395mm @f22 and 100 degree angle of view. It is a bit narrow than the Nikkor SW 150. I was also looking to get the Schneider 150mm f/5.6 Super-Symmar XL but it is very expensive and difficult to get. I also found the Rodenstock 155mm f6.8 with image circle of 382mm @f22 and 102 degrees angle view, very expensive and hard to come by.
    Thank you again!

    Great and informative video Tony, really enjoyed it. I use the Nikkor 120/8 SW lens, great optics, just covers 8x10, I crop the image if I apply movements, 7"x9" still better than 4x5. I have the Rodensock 155/6.8, beautiful lens, coverage 370mm at f11 and over 380mm at f22, plenty room for movements, no feel the need for central filters.

    Great video, Tony! I never considered that it needed a Sinar board rather than a Linhof board. That thing is huge!

    I used to own the Schneider 150 XL which was much, much lighter and compact but with a huge falloff, unbearable on Velvia.
    After a few years an internal element started to fog by itself (element separation?) but Schneider refused to fix it under warranty .
    I decided to sell it "as is" and started to look for the only real alternative: the Nikkor 150 SW. I was very lucky to get one online for more or less the same you paid!
    Great lens!

    Hello Tony, thanks for sharing your experience. SW 150 is out of my price range, but I am currently considering SW 120 or even SA 120, slightly cheaper than SW. I am still hoping for larger image circle of those when stopped down beyond f22.

    Good video. I have the Nikon W 180 and the SW 90 and SW 75. On a Sinar X. I only shoot 4x5 though. Thanks for the review.

    thanks Tony, I have a 4x5" sinar F2 with the Fuji 90SW f5.6 acting as a wide (21-28mm in 135 format); so get your filter issues, thanks for explaining that, especially the vignetting part, as most filter systems top out at 82mm filter thread dia. even the 100mm square systems, however Kase, Lee, and others do circular polarisers, ND's etc for this 95/105mm filter size which is the main option here, esp. for those doing Architecture, Car and street photography where glare and overexposure are problems we face regularly.
    PS this is also an issue for Hasselblad H users (the HCD 35/300 lenses use a 95mm size to).

    Only the price would put me off this lens, my heaviest lens is 8kg (17.6 lbs). I’ll have to stick with 5x7 for wide angle photography.

    So just camera and lens for Tony $10k. Awesome😂! Great stuff. I have meager 360mm Rodenstock that only weighs 3.5 lb.

    It’s s-eye-nar, not sea-nar, right?

    • @tonysantophotography
      @tonysantophotography  8 місяців тому

      From my understanding, people have pronounced it both ways. Not 100% sure. 😮

    • @c.augustin
      @c.augustin 8 місяців тому +1

      "sea-nar" - it's a Swiss company, so the German pronunciation is the "correct" one. Maybe rather with a smooth S (more like "zea-nar"), but I'm not sure, even as a German … ;-)

      @@hautehussey Couldn't find any. If you mean a short "i" in German, than it makes (some) sense.
