For tags that listen to inbuilt consent signals additional setup is not needed in GTM. All Google products can listen to consent signals sent out from the plugin by default.

Well, 6 months ago, I installed the free version on my site with ease. However, for a new site I'm doing now, the free version looks different and the functionality is nowhere near that of the same free version I installed 6 months ago, and the Developer name is CookieYes, not WebToffee. What gives?
Hi Gerhard, WebToffee and CookieYes share the same parent company. The plugin's code and user interface have been completely updated in the revamped version. Almost all of the features that were available in the old version are also available in the new version. You can also connect to the CookieYes web app (optional) to access additional features such as a cookie scanner and consent log. The revamped version is only available for newer websites. Rolling out such a major modification to all of the websites could have impacted many of them. Therefore, we have kept the old plugin code and user interface for the benefit of current users. If you face any difficulty in setting up the plugin please contact the support and our team will guide your properly. I hope this is clear. We'll keep you informed

I really don't get cookie stuff. Does having this plugin in my website covers me for any law troubles? Or there's something else to it? I'm looking for a free solution
Using our plugin, you can make the site GDPR compliant by configuring plugin to block all non necessary cookies until user gives consent. Yes, the plugin is absolutely a free solution. You only need to go for the pro version for advanced features.
Bros, this is the world's biggest scam so far. $50 to $200 dollars a month for a plugin that says "Accept" "Decline" "Customize". Gaming industries work for 7-10 years to make a MMO game with hundreds of employees, millions of dollars invested, and they tax a player for $15/month, while this plugin that takes 2 hours to make, or 15 minutes with Chat GPT scams 1 website for $200 a month? WTF is this?
Hi, We want to inform you that our plugin is designed to assist in making your site compliant with the laws by preventing scripts from generating cookies without the consent of your site visitors. This is achieved by blocking scripts until users give their consent, which is recorded through the Accept or Decline buttons. There are certain other features that we provide that you can learn if you could go through our plugin documentation: www.webtoffee.com/gdpr-cookie-consent-plugin-user-guide/. We are continuously investing in building our team and infrastructure so that our cookie detection software and cookie dictionary continue to be the best in the market. Unlike our other plugins, the GDPR Cookie Consent plugin incurs additional cost per website whenever a website uses the cookie scanning feature. In regards to the pricing of our plugin, we understand that there may be some confusion. Please note that we do not charge a monthly fee, but rather offer a license subscription that is valid for one year. We also offer different bundles for customers who have multiple sites, which can save a significant amount of money. We believe the cost per website is still reasonable considering the value it provides.
@@WebToffee Thank you for trying to justify your pricing in such a detailed manner, but let me correct you on a couple of things. First of all, the morality of this law is questionable. By now, everyone knows that most, if not all websites use cookies. Clicking Accept or Decline, while most likely people instinctively click Accept since there are some scripts that block the User's access to the website if people decline to comply the Cookie Policy, makes no positive change towards people's privacy rights. This only costs the owners of online businesses, websites or blogs another amount of money they must pay per month or per year (in your case), for a simple script that I have mentioned can be written in no more than 15 minutes with the help of an AI (I gave Chat GPT as an example) without knowing ANY amount of programming at all, therefore this is a massive scam at a global level. It not only annoys people having to click a button to visit a website which they are by now aware it uses cookies, but the site owner is FORCED to pay BY LAW an amount of cash to private app developers who create plugins or scripts that display the message and personalizes the cookies. I know you understand very well what I'm talking about. I do hope people will get smarter and do something about this annoyance altogether so we can get rid of that extra click that we automatically agree upon visiting any public website. This law needs to go, at least when it comes to websites OR a solution with unlimited use should be developed by the government that people can use for FREE for commercial or personal purposes. This is almost like being taxed for the right to breathe. Knowing that you can't legally host a website publicly without GDPR compliance and that you NEED to PAY for that, is morally wrong. Is a scam.
We understand your concerns regarding the use of cookies and the associated costs for website owners. However, it is important to note that the GDPR regulation was put in place to protect the privacy rights of individuals, and compliance is mandatory for websites that collect personal data of EU citizens. While it may seem like an extra burden for website owners to comply with the regulation and implement cookie consent banners, it is important to prioritize the privacy of users. Cookie compliance companies provide a valuable service by ensuring that websites are GDPR compliant and helping website owners avoid costly fines for non-compliance. Moreover, the GDPR has brought about a cultural shift in the way businesses approach data protection and privacy. It has increased awareness of the importance of protecting personal data and has prompted businesses to take a proactive approach to data protection. This not only benefits individuals but also helps businesses to build trust and loyalty with their customers. Furthermore, while it may be possible to develop a cookie script in a short amount of time, it may not be sufficient to ensure GDPR compliance. Compliance requires a comprehensive approach that takes into account the specific needs and risks of each individual website. Cookie compliance companies have the expertise and resources to provide customized solutions that meet the unique needs of each client. In conclusion, while GDPR compliance may involve additional costs for website owners, it is a necessary step in protecting the privacy rights of individuals and building trust with customers. Cookie compliance companies provide a valuable service in ensuring that website owners are able to comply with the regulation and maintain the highest standards of data protection. Additionally, it's worth noting that cookie compliance companies not only help website owners with compliance but also provide ongoing support and updates to ensure continued compliance as regulations and best practices evolve. This helps website owners stay up-to-date with the latest data protection requirements and maintain the trust of their customers. Finally, it's important to acknowledge that the costs of non-compliance with GDPR can be significant, including fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover, whichever is higher. Cookie compliance companies provide a cost-effective solution to ensure compliance and avoid these potentially devastating penalties.
