agreed. the fact that Dan went the extra mile to actually make captions, and decided to have fun with it just reminds me why I have been watching his channel for well over a decade
I wish we could see more troll programs like these deployed in nowadays systems. I feel like it would've been fun to see the reaction of people with that. Not destructive, just a silly virus that temporarily messes with visuals and that's it.
Imagine if all of these videos were just part of some insanely elaborate ARG, and we've all been so focused on the virus and what it does that we've missed all of those clues along the way.
Agree with your closing comments. It's nice to see some viruses which were meant for a bit of (near!) harmless fun. Doesn't have to be CIH or frustrating adware.
The best viruses are always the ones that just mess things in a fun way rather than just deleting your stuff. Almost like devious demoscenes rather than combusting code.
You Bless This planet with ANOTHER upload, and just when we think it could not get any better you give us an encore with an unnecessary seek test? You spoil us so much!
i've been watching your videos for YEARS and years and just remembered your channel after having forgotten due to work/my own projects. Thankfully you are still around.
I do have to agree about your statement about non-destructive viruses. There is something quite fun watching these payloads. To this day, my personal favorite is TECHNO. That's my JAM!
YO HABLO ESPAÑOL, pero igual te dejo un comentario- este es el tipo de videos que me gusta de tu canal. Un virus que no destruye nada y solo decide moverse y engañar jaja definitvamente va un like.
there's multiple ways to do that, such as a killswitch, or saving backups of every infected file in a hidden location and restoring them later or in this case, it seems that it modifies the executable in a reversible way, and just reverse the modification when ran
These viruses were coded in ASM. You have full hardware and memory control at that level, you can hook memory in real time, instruct tasks from memory and delete sections of files from memory.
love your videos man. really cool to see someone passionate about something like you are. youve got great technical knowledge and its cool to see you work.
I agree with everything here... we need more fun malware these days. Instead people are too interested in ill-gotten gains. I doubt those folks have any feelings at all. The authors of old clearly had more than the all-mighty dollar in mind.
This is hilarious! is there any way to find out who wrote it - if anyone ever claimed the honour? It reminds me of a Discordian prank, in the vein of the classic "release three pigs with 1, 2 and 4 written on them, so everyone wastes time looking for 3."
Against all the evil that Hell could conjure, all the wickedness that mankind can produce, we will send unto them, only you. Rip and tear, until it is done.
no, it means that whoever baited the virus into infecting this executable had their date set to 1-1-1980, which was the default date set by IBM PCs if there was no real time clock installed. This particular virus is from around 1991
He blesses us with an unnecessary reboot just to hear the holy ol' seek test. Thank you, Master Danooct1
He even raised the volume 😎
Song of our ancestors
America grew up listening to us. It still does
the best sound ever. i get the greatest dopamine hit
You rebooted just so we could hear the seek test? You are SPOILING us.
rebooting just for the seek test
we have been blessed
@mr nobody THESE BOTS AGAIN?! NOT ON DANOOCT'S CANNEL NO NO NO.
We have gathered here now to watch a virus remove itself from itself
I used the virus to destroy the virus
I love the innocent dB increase right before the seek test 😇

No one codes in assembly anymore so good luck.
@@chancellor170 who said it had to be assembly?
@@lily__r I did.
i tried but windows 10 always detects it an will stop it before it even finishes downloading on a system
@@nekomata_aero you need to compress / encode it.
It would've been hilarious if the internal error code was something stupid like "ICUP" so people would read it out over the phone
Now you reminded me of that one Beavis and Butthead episode...
Or ICATT

Damn that last sentence was the cringiest shit I've ever heard.
WAADRGVRLLLDL
I don't know why but I've just been staring at that after you ran dir and then executed power (4:26) and it amuses me to no end.
I actually find the blinking monitor to be quite charming, but I do understand the accessibility concerns with flashing lights.
**Homer Simpson impression** Mmm.. seek test.
im not even joking, this is legit my fave channel. looking forward to each video

I was just rewatching some of your old videos just to see that you uploaded a new one. What timing!
Happy to see you type out your own subtitles, glad to see you have fun with them too!

Our ears have been blessed by our old pal, the Seek Test. Unfortunately, we had to leave our good friend GRAPHICS alone.
Good to see you're still uploading, bud. Love your content!
dan, you are absolutely spoiling us again, so happy to see some new videos
Dan the man is on an upload rampage.
Lovely to see you uploading again, I love your stuff
Always love to see new videos from you!
i appreciate the subtitles u always put on ur videos :D
Neat! Hey, thanks for uploading lately. I really enjoy watching your videos.
You boosted the volume of the seek test. What a guy.
Ayyy, new danooct1 video, with subtitles!! Happy days are back :D
I like the clicks of old hard drives like that
This virus definitely partakes in a miniscule amount of mischief.

i love viruses like these, why cant we have non-destructive modern viruses
Ironically, modern viruses aren't (technically) destructive either. About the worst ones are ransomware. All the rest are either spyware or adware.
Watching this during my lunch break at work is a treat lol
Everyday is a good day when danooct01 uploads.
More like Dos.Eternal
coming home from school for a new video, there isn't a better feeling

Hell yeah.

Does that pc have a 106mb seagate drive? Believe we had that pc with the same CPU, or a 486. It had Windows 3.11
it's a Maxtor drive, actually. It is indeed 106MB though.

So does that mean that if the date is 1980 it was created then? If so it’s fascinating how long viruses have been around
